Sung Cha-hyeon
S-Class Esper – Republic of Korea
Real Name: Sung Cha-hyeon (成此賢, Seong Chahyeon)
Date of Birth: January 11, 19XX
Place of Birth: Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province
Current Residence: Yongsan-gu, Seoul
Nationality: South Korean
Family: Deceased parents[1], grandmother Jeong Soon-ae[2], pair guide Ji Se-min[3]
Nicknames: Sex God[4], Sexy Charisma, That Esper[5], Mr. Sung[6], Tsar Bomba[7], Cha-Cha, Cha-kitty[8], Sung Ddoji[9], SSS-Ranked Teen Esper[10], and more.
[1] Died during the Third Gate Flood.
[2] Not related by blood. After the flood, she became the legal guardian of Sung Cha-hyeon, who had been her neighbor. (As discussed in section 4.1, she took in the emotionally lost Cha-hyeon after his parents’ death. She was the one who ultimately helped straighten him out. That’s what “rehabilitation” meant, apparently…)
[3] Pair guide with a 97% matching rate. After the loss of his parents, Cha-hyeon grew up under his grandmother’s care. And so the two of them… entered into that not-so-secret relationship everyone already knew about.
[4] A shortened version of “Sexy Charisma”—though let’s be honest, everyone knows what it really means: Sex (Sung) Car (Cha-hyeon).
[5] Emerged after news of his relationship with pair guide Ji Se-min broke, used in headlines and social media with phrasing like “That Esper finally confirms dating rumors.”
[6] Used mockingly by fans, often when referring to his alleged sexual activities in cars. Usually said in a scolding or teasing tone.

Slender fingers scrolled intermittently across the phone screen. Still flushed, Se-min lay on the bed, reading through the carefully compiled profile on Sung Cha-hyeon—assembled by some anonymous netizen.
It didn’t feel the same as the first time he’d searched his and Cha-hyeon’s names on YouTube. Back then, it was just fascinating—surreal, even. Now, it felt strangely personal… like it should be about him, yet also wasn’t. A confusing mix of familiarity and detachment.
Seeing himself and his grandmother mentioned in Cha-hyeon’s profile still made his stomach turn. After he’d told Cha-hyeon how afraid he was of the blackout in his memory, the feeling had subsided a little—but not enough to truly move past it.
Still, after somehow finishing a meal he couldn’t even remember eating, Se-min had stumbled back into this unfamiliar room and resolved to face that unease head-on.
He couldn’t keep running from it. Right now, all of his memories of Cha-hyeon were gone. That’s why this all felt like stepping onto a massive, unfamiliar movie set.
But as the saying goes: knowledge is power.
The more he could learn about himself and Cha-hyeon—about who they were—the more he could fill in the blanks left by the blackout. Maybe something would trigger a memory. Maybe something would click.
And just in case… just in case he never managed to reach full Favorability—wouldn’t it be better to at least know the world he was living in?
Current Favorability: 21%
“Never reach it?”
As if in response to the doubt, a blue shimmer fluttered shyly across the edge of his vision.
…To be honest, part of him was just plain curious. If he was supposed to seduce this guy, he wanted to know exactly what kind of person he was dealing with—down to the smallest detail.
“Yeah, you’re right, Se-min.”
“Hngh…”
Se-min let out a weird little noise and swatted at the air, banishing both the Favorability window and the whisper of Cha-hyeon’s voice echoing in his ears.
His cheeks now even redder than before, Se-min focused again on reading. A basic overview of Cha-hyeon’s life, his background, powers, achievements, and then…
Finally, he reached the name of his grandmother.
As he read the line, he pictured the back of that family photo—To my beloved Cha-hyeon—and, tense with emotion, began to read the part about a relationship he didn’t remember.
4.1 Madam Jeong Soon-ae
S-Class Guide Ji Se-min’s grandmother. One of the most influential figures in Sung Cha-hyeon’s life.
After losing his parents right before his eyes during the Third Gate Flood, Sung Cha-hyeon spiraled emotionally and began to drift. Madam Jeong, who had been close to his parents, took him in. (She had already taken on the burden of raising her four-year-old grandson after her own child’s death—yet still chose to take in a troubled teenage boy. That kind of compassion isn’t something you see every day.)
There were even rumors that the group Cha-hyeon hung around with during his rebellious phase wasn’t just your typical gang of delinquents, but was tied to the criminal underworld.
If Madam Jeong hadn’t stepped in, the S-Class Esper we now know as Sung Cha-hyeon might never have existed.
Cha-hyeon has said that he was able to overcome his past and find peace through this new form of family. For him, family is—and always has been—his top priority.
Fun Fact:
Back in the day, Cha-hyeon was a famously devoted son raised by warm, loving parents. Wait, what? A model student, too?? The literal definition of a “Mother’s friend’s son”??? Are you serious???
Reading the snarky, crossed-out editor’s note, Se-min forgot his nervousness and clenched his teeth.
There was no one else in the room, but he still felt like he’d get caught if he laughed.
Looking at the current Cha-hyeon, even he had to admit—“devoted son” and “model student” didn’t exactly fit.
Not that “underground mobster” was more accurate, but still.
Cha-hyeon just gave off this aura—like he’d been born into the world saying, “Mother, thank you for your hard work. You may go now.”
But once the giggles passed, the unease returned.
Staring at his grandmother’s name for a moment longer, Se-min lowered his hand and let the phone drop onto the bed.
He lay there in silence, eyes fixed on the unfamiliar ceiling, murmuring to himself like he was trying to memorize a script.
“Hyung’s parents died, and when he lost his way, Grandma took him in. That’s how we became family.”
He rubbed at the tightness in his chest. Though he was saying the words aloud in his own voice, it still felt like reciting a backstory—something fictional.
Still determined to face the dissonance head-on, Se-min turned toward the desk.
He stared at the spot where the photo frame would be—hidden from view due to how it was laid down—and let out another sigh.
Yeah, maybe this was the real world after all.
Se-min tried to accept the version of himself and his grandmother that existed in Cha-hyeon’s story.
He squeezed his eyes shut, as if sheer willpower could make it real. His whole body trembled. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t work.
“…Fine, whatever…”
Even if he couldn’t fully accept that the three of them were family, he at least braced himself with determination and picked the phone back up.
As he continued reading, his name and his grandmother’s popped up several more times in Cha-hyeon’s profile.
Each time, he wrestled with that strange, disorienting feeling, until finally—he reached the end of the Wiki page.
“Phew…”
All he’d done was lie in bed and read something someone else had written…
But it felt like he’d just fought a battle.
At least he hadn’t lost.
Exhausted, Se-min let his arm fall. The hand holding the phone was hot to the touch.
Staring blankly at the ceiling, he muttered under his breath.
“…So this is the world I live in.”
Sung Cha-hyeon’s life.
And in that life, the roles he and his grandmother had played.
These were the memories he’d lost.
He hadn’t fully accepted it yet—but he was starting to understand.
Now that he had something to fill the empty spaces in his memory, it didn’t feel quite as frightening.
To fully embrace this world again, he’d have to raise Cha-hyeon’s Favorability.
With a faint, conflicted smile, Se-min wiggled his toes.
Could he really bring that Favorability all the way to 100%…?
His thoughts flowed naturally, drifting toward his Linked Reward partner.
Cha-hyeon was… honestly, a lot more decent than he’d expected. Not that it had anything to do with the Favorability score going up—he was speaking objectively.
…Of course, Cha-hyeon was the kind of person people misunderstood easily.
That unapologetic arrogance of someone who had nothing to prove, combined with looks that seemed far too inhuman—that only made it worse.
Hadn’t he been rubbed the wrong way at first, too?
But back then, their Favorability had been in the negatives, and Hyung had been nervous too.
And besides… his type was…
“UWAAAH!!”
Se-min let out a loud yelp— Partly because his thoughts were veering into dangerous territory, And partly because his phone suddenly buzzed—ziiing—in his hand.
Startled by the sudden vibration, Se-min jolted upright. His heart thudded wildly in his chest.
Instinctively, his gaze dropped to his phone.
At some point, the screen had gone dark and returned to the lock screen. A new message lit up the display.
Cha-hyeon Hyung
What are you up to? ^^
