Extra Chapter 2-4
“Sitting in a car is a drive. What else would a drive be?”
I noisily sucked the straw stuck in my drink. It’s been over two hours since I’ve been in the car. The purpose of coming out was to go for a drive.
These days, I’m deliberately not scheduling anything and resting, but that’s only bearable for a day or two. Staying only at home was getting unbearably boring. There wasn’t anyone or anything I wanted at home.
While out for a drive, I happened to stop by a filming location quite by chance. It wasn’t my filming, but a movie shoot of colleagues I’m friendly with.
Mitchell was there too. I knew Mitchell would be there, but I certainly didn’t come to see Mitchell. It really was just a drive…
Even though I had declared that I wouldn’t meet Mitchell anymore, realistically, it was impossible to not meet him at all. Isn’t Mitchell the president of my agency? I wouldn’t have known if my manager hadn’t told me.
The contract period is as long as 10 years, but I don’t know why I made such an unreasonable long-term contract. It would be difficult to not encounter each other even once in 10 years.
If Mitchell deliberately tries not to meet, business communications can be resolved with the employees. But for me, I couldn’t completely cut off or ignore the president of my agency.
So I stopped by while out for a drive. Just while out for a drive, that is.
Of course, I didn’t see any colleagues at all, and I barely saw Mitchell’s back, but it was a satisfying drive. I’m not sure if this can be called a drive, though.
The problem came after that. Like a stalker, I hid in the car for a long time, afraid of being caught by Mitchell… no, by other people. I pretended not to see even when someone I knew passed by.
Then suddenly, I became newly aware of my appearance, trapped in the car waiting for Mitchell. I finally admitted it. I had come to see Mitchell. I deceived myself by talking about a drive, but it wasn’t possible.
I don’t know why I’m acting like this.
I’ve always shown considerable obsession with things I’ve set as my goal, and recently, was that target Mitchell? There was no way to confirm.
Even if that were the case, I probably wouldn’t have told Mitchell about my obsession.
‘I want to be obsessed with you. Let me follow you around.’
Instead of saying something like this outright, I probably just secretly watched from behind. I wouldn’t have had the courage to expose to Mitchell what kind of person I am. Unless something dramatic happened between Mitchell and me.
“I came to see other colleagues, not Mitchell.”
Even though I know it’s not true, I try to brainwash myself forcibly.
“I just happened to stop by while out for a drive.”
I piled up excuses shamelessly, but I wasn’t convinced at all.
Where I parked my car was in the parking area where the actors’ trailers were lined up. The security at this filming location is so tight that you can’t enter with the excuse of meeting a fellow actor. Entry is prohibited for anyone not related to the movie.
Nevertheless, I came thinking I’d just try with nothing to lose, and that attempt worked. The guard standing at the entrance to the set recognized me and called somewhere. There was a brief conversation mentioning my name, and the guard immediately let me in. It was easier to pass through than I thought.
Of course, I was only allowed up to the parking lot and the area where the actors’ trailers were gathered. I didn’t even dare to enter the set where filming was in progress. I didn’t intend to go into the filming area anyway, so the parking lot was perfect for me. That’s how I was able to park my car in this spot.
“Have I also entered the ranks of top actors?”
I indulged in some shameless self-reflection. In the past, I would have been turned away, but now that I’ve reached the top of the field, the treatment has changed. It was a moment when I newly realized that I had become a well-known actor in America.
“I guess it makes sense if I’ve topped the box office.”
Although I say things like top actor and whatnot, I don’t completely understand the current situation. No matter how famous I’ve become, it didn’t seem likely that principle-oriented guards would let me in so easily, so the answer was likely Mitchell.
Because of my acquaintance with Mitchell from co-starring in Mirror Match, my credibility probably increased with Mitchell as collateral.
It’s Mitchell again. It seems my life in America can’t be discussed without Mitchell.
It was strange that only the memories of Mitchell had disappeared. I can only guess that he might have given me an enormous shock in my life. If that’s true, I’m curious about what kind of shock it was.
What could that person have done to me?
“Is it over?”
It was just about an hour after I had parked at the end of the parking lot and gone into hiding. I caught glimpses of a few recognizable actors entering their respective trailers. People carrying lunch boxes passed by frequently. It seemed the filming had paused briefly for mealtime.
My eyes darted around quickly, looking for someone who might come at any moment. And then I saw him. Mitchell, wearing a black suit that fit him perfectly.
I hurriedly put down my empty drink and huddled as close to the steering wheel as possible. It wasn’t a conscious attempt to hide, and my large body couldn’t be hidden anyway. It was a reflexive action that came out when I saw Mitchell.
“Oh?”
At that moment, Mitchell’s gaze turned towards my car.
It wasn’t directly at me, so the probability that he saw me was extremely low. The time his gaze was in this direction was just a fraction of a second. It wasn’t a position where he could check my license plate either. Of course, this is assuming he had memorized my car number.
I remained crouched down until I confirmed that Mitchell had entered his trailer and the door had closed. Even after that, the observation didn’t stop.
Meanwhile, I swallowed as I watched a staff member passing by with a hamburger bag. I was regretting not preparing food in advance. However, I had no intention of returning home.
At that time, I didn’t know that my hunger would continue for several hours.
“Damn… I’m hungry.”
About an hour after the afternoon filming started, my hunger reached its peak. I could go outside the filming location to eat, but Mitchell might finish filming and leave in the meantime.
The thought that I had to watch Mitchell’s movements was so intense that I didn’t even consider going out.
Luckily, I had a decent idea to satisfy my hunger. It was a bit risky, but if I was going to follow Mitchell, I needed to be in good physical condition. I absolutely had to eat.
“Rather than following Mitchell, I need to see what this guy is doing. I don’t know what he might do behind my back, always bothering me. I need to be prepared.”
I rambled on with excuses as if someone was listening in the empty car. After taking a few deep breaths and confirming that there was no one around, I got out of the car. The place I quickly ran to was Mitchell’s trailer.
Thanks to my diligent observation, I knew that the last person who came out of the trailer didn’t lock the door. The vehicle is a model that uses a key without automatic locking. It seemed like I’d be fine as long as I wasn’t caught entering like this.
So, I had decided to steal and eat the meal provided for Mitchell.
I had seen staff members bringing a large amount of food to Mitchell’s trailer, and Mitchell didn’t seem like the type to eat it all.
He wouldn’t, right…?
It just didn’t seem like he would. That was the vague thought that occurred to me. Maybe in the past, I knew about Mitchell’s meal portions.
After looking around, I jumped into the trailer like a nimble squirrel. If I get caught, it’s terrible, but if I don’t get caught, that’s all that matters. I took the risk to satisfy my increasingly severe hunger, and fortunately, I succeeded.
“Whoa.”
As soon as I closed the trailer door, I let out an exclamation and pressed down on my wildly beating heart. I sometimes deliberately did crazy things. Maybe that’s why Mitchell got attached to me. Because similar types of people recognize each other.
“Alright.”
In case I might have been caught, I looked outside through the window. Slightly pulling back the curtain and looking around, there was no one nearby except for people gathered at a distance.
Just in case, I also checked my car. I could see the side of the car from this position, but due to the sunlight reflection, it seemed difficult to discern if anyone was sitting in the driver’s seat.
Of course. I’m a person skilled in hiding. Me.
“Phew-.”
Breathing a sigh of relief, I looked around the empty trailer. I saw various foods placed on the table. Suppressing a smile that was about to break out, I picked up a cookie. With a crunching sound, I tasted it, and this place became heaven.
