Chi Zhan paused to think for a moment, then chose Yan—the crimson fire mage—for Seven.
Seven, in turn, gave Ice King to Chi Zhan.
This game now had 340 characters in total—even someone like Seven couldn’t be a master of them all. What’s more, elemental counters were part of the gameplay: water beat fire, fire beat metal, and the side being countered would suffer a 50% reduction in both attack and defense.
Ice King countered Yan.
Chi Zhan blinked, momentarily stunned, before realizing—Seven was going easy on him.
The stream was still live. Everyone was eagerly waiting for Seven to completely crush this noob opponent. Chen Che had even stopped eating his chips, shaking his head and muttering, “Sure, the element matchup favors Secretary Chi, but that kind of disadvantage doesn’t even matter to Qi-ge. Poor guy’s probably gonna get so wrecked he’ll rage-quit and never talk to Qi-ge again.”
“Do you think Seven’s you?”
“What?”
“Brain-dead.”
“……”
The game began. Chi Zhan followed the safe strategy of slow development early on, staying firmly inside his tower’s range. Still, he couldn’t shake the sense of unease—
The image of Seven charging into the enemy’s tower earlier and pulling off a reckless triple kill was still fresh in his mind. Towers were no longer safe. He stayed hidden in the back, clearing minions. The icy-blue prince looked pitiful and helpless, a tragic little figure barely clinging to life.
Seven, seemingly aware he wouldn’t venture out, blatantly stood just outside his safe zone and cleared waves there.
Chi Zhan almost wanted to ask if something was bothering him—but then remembered they were on stream, so he said nothing. They both quietly focused on farming minions. The battlefield was calm.
Until Seven began inching closer to Chi Zhan’s tower.
Chi Zhan flicked a basic attack at him—just a quick poke. Seven didn’t move, clearly not planning to dive under tower. One stood outside, the other inside. The two of them stared at each other from a distance.
[This is hilarious. Seven’s probably thinking, ‘Why is this guy so damn good at hiding? Looks like he’s ready to retreat home at any second.’]
[This is exactly how you beat Seven—don’t feed him, and you’re already winning!]
Seven came over, cleared another wave, then walked off. His dot disappeared from the minimap. Chi Zhan kept farming. Three whole minutes passed—and still no sign of Seven.
With his cooldowns now reset, Chi Zhan finally ventured out. He tossed a small vortex into the bush as a probe.
The moment the skill landed, a fiery red ribbon wrapped around him—complete with a 0.2-second stun—and dragged him straight to Seven.
Seven had actually been camping him!
Chi Zhan instantly knew he was in trouble. The moment the stun ended, he launched his ultimate at Seven in a flurry. Seven countered with his own fire-based ult.
Ice and fire collided, triggering a dual-character animation and exclusive voice lines.
Glacial blue lily petals blossomed layer by layer, gleaming with silver light, while Yan transformed into a rose of pure crimson, each petal edged with a flickering burn effect. The moment their auras clashed, the petals intertwined—ice freezing fire, fire melting ice.
Petals swirled across the screen.
“You owe me. It’s time to pay up.”
“Even if you resent it, you’ll fall by my hand. Unwilling? Too bad.”
Chi Zhan’s HP bar plummeted. The rose petals wrapped around Ice King’s staff-wielding arm, triggering a burn effect—most of his outfit was scorched away. His HP dropped sharply, nearly hitting zero. But Seven didn’t go in for the kill. Instead, the lily’s ice effect froze half of Yan’s arm solid.
Once the ribbon faded, Chi Zhan blinked away in a panic. His HP was hanging by a thread—one more hit, and he’d be headed back to the spawn point. But Seven didn’t follow up. He just stood there, as if still under the effects of Chi Zhan’s abilities.
That was close.
A second later and he’d be dead.
Chi Zhan’s heart was pounding. When he’d been dragged in front of Seven, he really thought it was over. But Seven’s ult hadn’t finished him. Somehow, with a sliver of health left, he’d survived.
It was genuinely dangerous. But also exhilarating.
The chat started buzzing with suspicion.
[Why isn’t Ice King dead? Yan’s ultimate should have finished him. Did I miss something?]
[I know this! These two are a classic enemies-to-lovers CP. Yan was always in love with Ice King, but then found out he was only getting close to restore his fallen kingdom. They ended up at odds. When either of them uses their ult, it triggers those voice lines—but there’s a hidden effect too!]
[Yan’s ult normally deals true damage. But against Ice King, it applies a hidden ‘Divine Blessing’ status—Ice King’s HP can’t drop below 10%. You have to follow up with normal attacks to kill him.]
[Seven didn’t follow up. He’s so gentle with fans T_T.]
[He went from dark, brooding Seven to boyfriend-material Seven in like, 0.2 seconds.]
Chi Zhan had no clue about any of this. He was the type of player who skipped storylines and focused solely on the fight. To him, surviving Seven’s deadly combo felt like pure luck.
All he vaguely remembered was that both characters were technically princes in the lore, and had some kind of falling-out. He wasn’t sure why they hated each other.
Seven started clearing minions again. Chi Zhan, still recovering from the near-death experience, began clearing his wave on autopilot. Seeing Seven wasn’t reacting, he tossed a small ability at him, testing the waters.
No response?
He threw another.
Still no reaction? One more.
Chi Zhan began poking Seven with basic attacks from behind, thoroughly entertained. Whenever Seven turned around, Chi Zhan would immediately blink three meters away.
Watching the stream, Chen Che’s chips fell from his hands.
“This is really Qi-ge playing right now?” he said, stunned. “That was the gentlest fight I’ve ever seen! Is this even a 1v1 or are they flirting?! And earlier—did Qi-ge deliberately bait Secretary Chi into chasing him?”
Yan’s red ribbon, once latched onto a target, couldn’t be broken unless the user canceled it or died. The victim basically had zero counterplay.
But Seven had released him after a single ult.
It was obvious—he’d gone easy on him.
