It was his second visit to this room, but the feeling was the same as when he first entered. It was still cold and sparse. The room contained only a bed, a small drawer, a standing lamp, and a few items filling the built-in shelves.
Jae-young got up and lay down on the floor. After visually checking under the bed frame, he inserted his hand into the narrow space.
As he swept the floor and felt along the ceiling of the frame, he quickly hit solid wood. It wasn’t a position where something could be stored.
Though not a speck of dust was caught, he rubbed the tips of his index and middle fingers with his thumb as he stood up. There was nothing special on the bed headboard either.
He immediately examined the drawer beside the bed. Glancing at the firmly closed door, he opened the first drawer. Jae-young, who was casually looking inside the drawer, picked up an object wrapped in black cloth.
“…”
For a moment, his eyes twitched, and his mouth began to dry up. Judging by the heavy weight and the shape in his grip, what was wrapped in the cloth was a gun.
Is it okay to store it like this? Are there bullets too? Jae-young unwrapped the cloth tightly bundled around the handgun. The gun was crude and had scratches here and there.
Why the hell would he keep this by the bed? He thought it wouldn’t be difficult to get a bullet hole in the head if he made a careless move while sleeping. Jae-young shuddered and trembled violently.
Jae-young wrapped the cloth back in its original direction and put the gun back in its place. There was also a metal pill container in the drawer. He took out one pill and held it up to the light. Usually, pills have abbreviated letters marked on the surface, but this one didn’t.
“…What kind of pill is this, anyway?”
Since it was in the bedroom, it seemed like a sleeping pill. After confirming that quite a few pills remained, Jae-young put one in the pocket of his pants that were strewn on the floor.
If this pill was a drug, it wouldn’t hurt to know. At the very least, he could use it as leverage. For hair evidence, he could search the bed later.
It certainly didn’t seem like an officially approved prescription drug. He put the pill container back in its place and carefully closed the drawer. Then, opening the drawer below, Jae-young searched the room with busy but careful movements.
In the end, there was no result. There was no ledger in the drawers, on the shelves, or even in the bed.
It wasn’t in the bedroom. He sat comfortably on the bed and tilted his body slightly. Supporting his body with his arm, he tilted his head back.
But where has this guy gone? Jae-young exhaled deeply while shaking his legs. He turned his gaze from the ceiling to the door.
His fingertips, which had been intermittently tapping the bed sheet, stopped moving. Jae-young got up and opened the door.
Only after leaving the room did he realize that darkness had fallen outside. His field of vision revealed a quiet house. Conscious of the cameras, he immediately went down the stairs.
He wondered if Sa Gong-hyun might be sleeping in the first-floor bedroom. But before heading to the first-floor bedroom, he was caught in his line of sight.
Sa Gong-hyun was sitting on the terrace. Pale smoke scattered above his head. He seemed to be smoking.
Jae-young opened the terrace door, moving with quiet steps. Despite the sound of the sliding door, Sa Gong-hyun continued to smoke while staring straight ahead.
“Why are you out here?”
He approached Sa Gong-hyun slowly. Ver was lying down at the bottom of the stairs. At Jae-young’s presence, he lifted his head briefly before putting it back down on the floor.
As he approached Sa Gong-hyun, the man finally moved his head. With his lower body exposed, Jae-young felt the cold.
“I’m getting some air. I remembered someone suggesting it.”
The gaze that had been fixed on Jae-young for a moment casually turned forward.
“Go inside, get properly dressed, and come back out. You seem to be quite sensitive to cold.”
Sa Gong-hyun had already dropped his nearly-burnt cigarette on the ground. About five or six cigarette butts were piled up at his feet.
Smiling faintly at this, Jae-young sat down on Sa Gong-hyun’s lap. Though the strong smell of cigarettes pricked his nose, he didn’t mind and wrapped his hand around Sa Gong-hyun’s nape.
“I’ll probably be less cold if Hyun-ssi touches me.”
He placed Sa Gong-hyun’s hand directly on his thigh. Sa Gong-hyun, who had been staring at Jae-young’s actions, burst into laughter. At the same time, he caressed Jae-young’s leg with a gentle movement. Due to his naturally rough hands, his touch wasn’t exactly gentle.
“I wonder if I can interpret the intention behind you crawling out looking like that.”
“No more. After having sex with Hyun-ssi, my waist hurts so much that I always have to lie down without moving.”
“Then why did you get up instead of staying in bed?”
“Because Hyun-ssi wasn’t next to me.”
Sa Gong-hyun’s touch became a bit more intense. The rough sensation felt even more ticklish.
“I think it might be easier to raise a child. At least they wouldn’t wake up and whine like Do Jae-young-ssi.”
Upon hearing those words, he barely held back a snort that almost escaped. He looked like someone who would avoid children, but he didn’t expect him to lack such basic common sense.
Coming from an orphanage, he should know raising a child isn’t a simple task. If Sa Gong-hyun’s own child woke up every night, he might lose his temper and kill the child.
He also wondered if a day would come when Sa Gong-hyun, being gay, would have a child. So instead of pointing that out, he calmly smiled.
“I guarantee I’m better than children. Kids are so disobedient.”
“You seem to think you’re obedient.”
Was I that bad? Jae-young’s focus shifted away from Sa Gong-hyun. He rolled his eyes, but nothing appropriate came to mind.
“Was I that disobedient?”
“It gives me a headache just looking at you. You want a lot, you’re stubborn, and you’re troublesome. It’s also quite irritating how you appear whenever I’m about to forget about you and get in the way.”
He really has a way with words. Jae-young narrowed his eyes and pouted his lips. Then the hand that had been caressing his thigh lightly touched Jae-young’s lips.
“And your manners seem to be getting worse.”
As he already knew, Sa Gong-hyun was heavily influenced by rotten old-fashioned thinking. Making a fuss about manners just because he was born 6 years earlier was exactly that.
How well does he respect the elderly? Eventually, when they get to a certain age, they’ll all be friends anyway.
Jae-young suppressed his true feelings that were about to burst forth as he looked at Sa Gong-hyun, who was lazily smiling at him. Instead of unleashing his impulse, he gently bit Sa Gong-hyun’s finger.
“Still, let me stay by your side. It’s too irresponsible to make me like this and then pretend you don’t know.”
“Your skill at shifting responsibility is top-notch.”
“If you didn’t like it, you shouldn’t have accepted it from the beginning. It’s all Hyun-ssi’s fault.”
Hmm, he heard Sa Gong-hyun make a small sound. Sa Gong-hyun put the finger that had been bitten by Jae-young directly into his mouth.
“You should wish for the right things. How much do you really know to be this stubborn?”
He bent his knuckle and firmly pressed against Jae-young’s inner teeth. Sa Gong-hyun’s mouth moved continuously.
“Haven’t you considered that I might be more vicious than you imagine?”
“……”
Even a passing dog would know you’re the kind of scum that can’t be recycled. Unconsciously, his tongue touched Sa Gong-hyun’s finger.
Jae-young moved his tongue without concern. He sucked hard on the fingers in his mouth and then bit Sa Gong-hyun’s hand. Sa Gong-hyun’s eyes rose leisurely. Their eyes met.
“That’s right. Among all the people I’ve encountered, you’re the worst person, Sa Gong-hyun-ssi.”
Your words are sharp and your actions ruthless. Why would anyone fall for someone who treats people worse than dogs?
“You constantly try to hurt me, and you keep drawing lines that sometimes make me feel miserable when I’m with you.”
Despite hearing criticism to his face, Sa Gong-hyun showed no particular reaction. He just smiled quietly as if daring Jae-young to say more.
“But sometimes I think that might not be your true nature. You might find this presumptuous, but I believe you weren’t a bad person from the beginning.”
Jae-young examined his face carefully. Though he didn’t seem displeased, the faint smile that had bloomed at the corners of his mouth slowly faded.
“They say sincerity can sometimes change someone.”
“……”
“Maybe it’s because I’ve never been hurt by someone before. I want to believe that’s possible.”
As if waiting for Jae-young to finish speaking, Sa Gong-hyun exhaled an empty breath that resembled a sigh.
His fingers, which had been outside, suddenly forced their way between Jae-young’s lips. Since the intention was quite explicit, Jae-young slowly rolled his tongue.
“It’s not even funny anymore.”
“……”
