Prologue
A pitch-black night, with even the moon hidden from sight.
Among countless windows of the ancient castle, only a single one glowed faintly. Inside that room, flickering candlelight threw large shadows onto the wall, forming the silhouettes of two people. At first glance, they looked like affectionate lovers gently embracing, but the reality was far different.
“Let me go!”
“Just stop struggling already. I promise I won’t hurt you.”
Those words practically announced an imminent crime—forced, coercive mischief, no doubt.
The pair struggling against each other were both men, yet the difference in their builds was striking. Compared to the lion-like giant of a man, the other was more akin to a small puppy.
Remarkably, even the larger man’s face bore a striking resemblance to a lion. He let out a low, warning growl, revealing sharp, gleaming fangs.
“Please… let go of me.”
Strangely enough, it was the lion who was begging.
“I don’t think I will.”
The one forcibly pinning him down—the puppy-like one—was actually a slender, blond beauty.
“If you just hold still for a moment, it’ll all be over soon. You’re being unnecessarily difficult.”
“You try holding still in this kind of situation! Fine, if you stop now, I’ll pretend nothing happened.”
“Pretend? Nothing’s even happened yet. Well, not yet anyway.”
“…I’m begging you, please, come back to your senses.”
Come to my senses? Does that mean I’m not in my right mind right now?
Perhaps he wasn’t.
The beauty readily accepted that possibility. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so desperately pursuing the beast before him—the beast gripping his wrists as if holding on for dear life.
Still, his intentions were purely benevolent. True, every word from the damned master’s mouth was so annoyingly provocative that punching him squarely in the muzzle once would feel incredibly satisfying. Yet, even so, he couldn’t turn a blind eye to a situation where someone’s life hung in the balance.
This was, without a doubt, an act of humanitarian mercy—a hand offered purely out of compassion.
“Stop resisting and just accept it.”
The beauty closed his eyes and slowly leaned down, his lips gradually nearing the lion’s muzzle.
