Finally, the long-awaited day of Kang Dojun’s birthday had arrived.
Perhaps Yeonwoo had been waiting for it even more than Kang Dojun, the birthday boy himself.
The day before his birthday, Kang Dojun had gone alone to visit his parents and had dinner with them. In the meantime, Yeonwoo had secretly gone out to buy a cake. Everything was proceeding smoothly according to plan.
Now all that was left was to set everything up.
Yeonwoo took out the wine he had hidden deep in the refrigerator for this day.
He held it safely with both hands and looked at Kang Dojun with desperate eyes. He firmly shook his head.
“No. When did you buy that again?”
“I secretly went when hyung was out for schedules.”
“Alone? To the department store?”
“Yes.”
Dangerously. Kang Dojun clicked his tongue lowly. It seemed like he had also purchased wine when he went out to buy his birthday present.
‘Still, we should have gone together.’
Right now he was going along with Yeonwoo’s rhythm, but surprise birthday parties and such were all meaningless. Being together with someone special on a special day was the best gift.
Yeonwoo approached Kang Dojun and placed the wine in his arms.
“Hyung, please drink all of this today. I won’t drink any.”
“…All by myself?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll get drunk if I drink it all.”
‘That’s why I bought it.’
Yeonwoo swallowed his unspoken words.
“What about snacks?”
He hadn’t thought that far ahead. At Kang Dojun’s question, Yeonwoo hurriedly rummaged through the refrigerator, looking with eagle eyes for any food that could serve as drinking snacks.
‘I can’t let our hyung get an upset stomach.’
He could see the side dishes Kang Dojun’s parents had given them, but those were meal side dishes, not drinking snacks.
More than anything, he wanted to make something himself.
Cheese and scrambled eggs would be appropriate. Cheese didn’t even need cooking, and when it came to egg dishes, Yeonwoo had now reached enlightenment.
Yeonwoo shrugged his shoulders and spoke confidently as if he was going to treat him grandly on his birthday. He had now mastered almost all egg dishes.
“I’ll make snacks too. Go sit down.”
Even at those words, Kang Dojun hovered around him wondering if there was anything to help with. He couldn’t easily leave Yeonwoo alone in front of the fire.
Eventually he had no choice but to quietly go out to the living room after getting a sharp look.
The sound of pots falling over came from the kitchen.
Forget about the cooking being completed, there would be a pile of cleaning to do tomorrow.
Still, lately he seemed to have taken an interest in cooking and the results were quite good, so Kang Dojun soon felt relieved and turned his attention elsewhere. More than anything, when Yeonwoo was cooking for him, he couldn’t ignore his sincerity.
Kang Dojun took out his phone and went to the green search window.
🔍 My lover is encouraging me to drink
No search results came up. Was there no one with the same situation as him? At best, related search terms like “excuses for drinking secretly from your lover” appeared.
He turned off the search window and checked the messages that had come in. Park Daeho, Shin Gihyeon, Grace, Kim Haseon, fellow actors – everyone had sent him birthday congratulations without fail.
While he was spending time replying to each one, Yeonwoo came carrying the dishes he’d made himself on pretty plates.
Cheese was placed on top of the scrambled eggs, and sliced cheese was cut into small pieces, rolled up, and neatly stuck on toothpicks.
A carefully drawn ketchup heart was also visible. It was a slightly crooked heart, as if he’d failed to control his strength in the middle.
It was cute cooking filled with sincerity and a bit of clumsiness.
“How is it?”
Yeonwoo, who had brought wine glasses, wiped the sweat beading on his forehead and asked. Even though midsummer had passed, he seemed hot from standing in front of the fire.
“Thank you. It’s too precious to eat.”
“No. You must eat it.”
Yeonwoo said while pouring wine generously into the wine glass. The bright red wine swayed up to the rim of the glass, about to overflow.
“…You’re not drinking?”
“No, just watching hyung drink fills me up.”
Kang Dojun became curious about what scheme Yeonwoo was plotting again. For now, to go along with his thoughts, he sipped the wine while glancing sideways at Yeonwoo.
Black pupils followed the wine’s movement and stopped at Kang Dojun’s red lips. Then he watched his Adam’s apple move.
“Is it delicious?”
“It’s not good.”
“Have this.”
Yeonwoo scooped up scrambled eggs with a spoon and brought it to his lips.
Kang Dojun accepted and ate it. It was an easy dish, and since he’d been enjoying cooking lately, the food was successful.
“Is it delicious?”
“It’s delicious.”
“Have this.”
Yeonwoo held out the wine. He seemed to plan to make Kang Dojun drink without giving him a chance to rest. If he kept drinking wine, it would be the same as eliminating Yeonwoo’s chance to drink.
He took the glass without complaint and sipped. The wine was sweet and had deep flavor. However, he refrained from saying it was delicious, worried that Yeonwoo might want to taste it.
When he put down the glass, Yeonwoo immediately offered the food he’d cooked to Kang Dojun’s lips.
Kang Dojun couldn’t refuse anything Yeonwoo gave him and silently accepted and ate it. Before he knew it, his face had become hot.
When he put the back of his hand to his face, he felt coolness on his cheek.
“Are you hot?”
“A little.”
Yeonwoo personally fanned Kang Dojun’s shirt. His firm abs briefly appeared and disappeared.
“I’ll cool you down, so hyung keep drinking.”
‘…Is this kid trying to devour me?’
He remembered Yeonwoo’s words from before, shouting about trying to lead coolly. After getting him drunk…
Kang Dojun thought foolish thoughts even though he knew that couldn’t be it. Looking at this, he seemed to be getting tipsy.
He noticed Yeonwoo pouring wine into the empty glass. Before he knew it, the angle of tilting the bottle to pour wine into the glass had grown larger.
‘One or two more glasses?’
After one or two more glasses, the wine would be gone. Kang Dojun gulped it down again and emptied the glass. It was better to get hit first, so he thought to drink it quickly and get rid of it.
However, his drinking pace was too fast. It would be better if he drank slowly, but finishing a whole bottle of wine in less than an hour made his head dizzy.
Kang Dojun lightly leaned his head on Yeonwoo’s shoulder.
“Are you drunk?”
Yeonwoo asked with subtle excitement showing. When he picked up cheese rolled and stuck on a toothpick and brought it to Kang Dojun’s mouth, now he reflexively opened his mouth.
Kang Dojun chewed slowly and carefully as if he was trying to melt the cheese.
“Are you drunk?”
When Yeonwoo asked once more but got no answer, he grabbed Kang Dojun’s face to make eye contact. His pupils were drooping downward with no focus.
‘He’s drunk!’
“Hyung.”
“……”
“Hyung.”
“……”
His eyes were open but his mind seemed asleep – no matter how much he called, there was no response. What, this is boring. People with gentle personalities remain gentle even when drunk.
Yeonwoo knew very well how much stomach pain you get from drinking on an empty stomach. When he gave the leftover snacks to Kang Dojun, he obediently chewed them.
Looking at this, it doesn’t seem like he’s sleeping either.
‘I should just give him his birthday present and put him to bed quickly.’
Yeonwoo got up from where he was sitting to leave Kang Dojun for a moment and get the present he had carefully stored in his room.
Then he fell backward weakly as if he’d caught on something. Fortunately, it was Kang Dojun’s arms rather than the hard floor.
It would be nice to think of it that way, but the cause of Yeonwoo’s fall was none other than Kang Dojun. He was holding Yeonwoo’s waist tightly and wouldn’t let go.
“Where are you going?”
Kang Dojun spoke slowly and clearly in low syllables.
“To get a present.”
“Whose present?”
“Hyung’s present.”
Only then did he release the strength from the arm wrapped around Yeonwoo’s waist.
Yeonwoo made a displeased expression and once again got up to bring the present. And fell backward again.
“Where are you going?”
“To get a present.”
“Whose present?”
“…Hyung’s present.”
The strength left the arm wrapped around Yeonwoo. The same situation as before repeated. This time he would really get up…
“Where are you going.”
“……”
“Where are you going.”
When there was no answer, Kang Dojun asked once more.
Yeonwoo quietly looked up at Kang Dojun. If he was drunk and repeating the same situation, the fun idea occurred to him to try a different answer to elicit a different response.
“I’m going to hyung.”
“Whose hyung?”
“Dojun hyung.”
“Come here.”
Yeonwoo pressed their soft lips together firmly and pulled away. Kang Dojun clung closer, saying it wasn’t enough.
‘Ah, so cute.’
He wanted to record this on video. He turned on his phone to find the camera.
“What are you doing?”
“Trying to film a video.”
“Whose video.”
“Dojun hyung’s video.”
Kang Dojun slowly focused his gaze on the camera lens.
“Hyung, say anything.”
“…Yeonwoo.”
After thinking for a bit, the word he spoke was his own name.
Yeonwoo felt a bit mischievous.
“Dojun, hand.”
Kang Dojun’s hot hand came up to the hand he extended.
“Wow. He really gives it.”
Yeonwoo muttered quietly and fixed his phone camera on the table. It was to record on video the scene of giving Kang Dojun his present too.
Yeonwoo made eye contact with Kang Dojun and carefully backed away and stood up as if there was a wild beast in front of him.
“Where…”
“Wait!”
Kang Dojun’s arm that was reaching toward Yeonwoo lost its way and wandered at the command-like word.
“Wait!”
Yeonwoo said once more and ran like lightning to his room. Then he crawled under his bed.
Thanks to Kang Dojun thoroughly cleaning everywhere, there wasn’t a speck of dust. He crawled like going through a jungle forest and grabbed the gift box he’d secretly hidden in a corner.
Now he just had to back out.
“Uh… uhuh…”
At that moment, someone grabbed Yeonwoo’s legs and dragged him out from under the bed.
Yeonwoo instinctively used his strength to avoid being dragged, but under the bed there was nothing to grab and hold onto except the gift box. Even the floor was smooth.
In this house, there were only Yeonwoo and Kang Dojun.
Yeonwoo realized that the only person who could drag him out from under the bed was Kang Dojun and stopped resisting.
He was dragged out like luggage. The gift box was in his hand.
‘I was going to give it to him after going to the living room.’
When things didn’t go according to plan, he pouted.
“I told you to wait.”
“I waited.”
“How long?”
By his perception, it was less than a minute. Yeonwoo perked up his ears as if to hear his excuse, rolling the small gift box on his palm.
Kang Dojun grabbed and held both of Yeonwoo’s hands that were playing with the box so he could focus on him.
Yeonwoo had no choice but to look at him. The unfocused black pupils were sunk low.
Kang Dojun spoke slowly and clearly in a locked voice.
“Until you disappeared from before my eyes.”
I really held back a lot.
