After playing several more games, night had already crept up outside the window.
Yeonwoo grabbed his hungry stomach and muttered:
“…Aren’t you hungry?”
“What do you want to order? Is there anything you want to eat?”
“Anything.”
He picked up his phone to check the time. He had been playing games the whole time and hadn’t contacted Kang Dojun even once.
It was funny to contact each other religiously once a day, but it had already become such a habit that not doing it would feel awkward instead.
Yeonwoo naturally found his number and pressed it.
* * *
Kang Dojun was spending quiet time at his family home.
“Are you still in contact with that kid?”
“Who?”
“The countryside kid who appeared on the show with you.”
“Ah… Yeonwoo.”
He picked up a well-cut apple in front of him with a fork. Kang Dojun’s mother asked with eyes sparkling with curiosity:
“Right, right. Oh my. I watch it every week and the kid is so sweet and cute.”
“Dojun must find it burdensome.”
Unlike his energetic and bright mother, his father, who was a bit timid but had a serious voice, stopped her.
Kang Dojun, an only child, was embarrassed that his parents watched the dramas, movies, and shows he appeared in.
“No, it’s okay. Yeonwoo is staying with me now. He came up to Seoul last time.”
“Oh my! He’s in Seoul now? Bring him over once. Mom will make lots of delicious food for him. No! Should I pack some side dishes?”
“Are you living together now? Then he must be alone at home… bring him over…”
“He’s playing at a friend’s house. He said he’d sleep over for one night, so it’s okay.”
At Kang Dojun’s words, his parents looked a bit disappointed. They seemed to want to see Yeonwoo somehow.
His mother continued with praise:
“These days I live for the joy of watching Rural Conquest every week, you know? You should appear on variety shows more often. After always seeing you act, it was refreshing and nice to see you on variety shows.”
His parents had already purchased all the VOD episodes.
“Oh right, it’s on today, right? Perfect. We can all watch it together!”
His mother clapped and smiled brightly. Kang Dojun chewed his apple silently with a displeased expression.
Watching shows he appeared in with his family was awkward. Having to listen to real-time evaluations about his actions – “how was this, how was that” – was quite difficult.
Then Kang Dojun’s phone vibrated. After checking the caller on the screen, he glanced at his parents and escaped to his room.
“Hello.”
Hyung!
He could see Yeonwoo on the other side of the screen. Without realizing it, he drew a smile on his lips.
“What are you doing?”
We’re about to eat dinner now. We ordered delivery.
At this time? He had already eaten dinner long ago and was eating fruit for dessert.
“You’re eating now?”
I was busy playing games.
Hey, is that Kang Dojun? The actor? Are you talking to him right now?
Ah, move away a bit.
Not eating dinner on time because of games, the screen shaking constantly, and bickering with his friend looked quite enjoyable.
“Are you having fun?”
Hello, Kang Dojun-ssi! I’m Yeonwoo’s friend Kim Haseon.
“…Hello, I’m watching your YouTube well.”
Huk… did, did you see that?
“Yes, I watched it enjoyably.”
He had watched every single part of the deep-sea fishing period when Yeonwoo appeared without missing anything.
‘Aren’t they sticking too close together?’
The two were stuck right together to get both faces on the small screen. Yeonwoo must have felt uncomfortable too as he pushed Kim Haseon to the side.
Ah, move away a bit. It’s hot.
Oh, sorry.
Soon Kim Haseon disappeared from the screen. Yeonwoo asked with sparkling eyes:
Hyung, do you know there’s a broadcast today? We’re planning to watch while eating dinner.
“Yeah, I probably won’t be able to watch.”
He felt too embarrassed to watch with his parents. Yeonwoo looked disappointed.
Again?
Somehow he hadn’t been able to watch a single episode that had aired so far. He kept saying he’d watch, he’d watch, but only time had passed.
“I’ll definitely binge-watch them later. Did you take your medicine?”
Yes, I’ll take it again after dinner later.
“You don’t feel tired or stuffy?”
Yeonwoo showed him the inside of the room.
Yes, it’s quite spacious.
Then he brought his lips to the speaker and whispered so Kim Haseon wouldn’t hear:
Still, hyung’s house is much better.
Yeonwoo’s fair skin appeared enlarged on the screen. Kang Dojun swallowed his laughter at his cuteness.
They continued talking about trivial things after that. The conversation style was Yeonwoo telling him about various things that happened while gaming, and Kang Dojun nodding along.
What are you doing, hyung?
“Just talking with family. I’m going to wash up and sleep now.”
Hey, the bossam came!
Oh, I’m coming now. Hyung, I’ll hang up now. Sleep well.
Yeonwoo said hurriedly.
“Yeah, eat well.”
Yes, I’ll contact you tomorrow.
Looking at the black screen, he felt somewhat disappointed.
‘He’s having fun even without me…’
* * *
“Why did you talk on the phone for so long?”
“It wasn’t that long?”
“It was 30 minutes.”
Yeonwoo stuffed his mouth full of bossam and checked his call history. When he was in the countryside and Kang Dojun was in Seoul, they had talked this long every day.
“So what?”
“You two aren’t even dating, what’s there to talk about so much?”
“I just talked about games and nothing much.”
When talking with Kang Dojun, it didn’t feel like he talked much, but time passed quickly.
“It’s starting. It’s starting. Should I turn up the volume?”
Kim Haseon tapped Yeonwoo and pointed at the TV. The live broadcast of Rural Conquest had started on screen.
Both stopped hurriedly eating bossam and focused on the broadcast. It was the scene where Grace came as guests and exchanged greetings.
“Wow, you met Grace too?”
“Yeah. For one day.”
“I’m BizLover. Please take care of me.”
“…Is that a joke?”
“No, it’s another game ID.”
Following PCLover, now BizLover. Yeonwoo was truly consistent. The broadcast flowed on and the foot volleyball match started.
“But Cheolsu is really stubborn. He keeps insisting he’s Sehyeon until the end.”
Kim Haseon, who had visited the countryside, had also met Cheolsu. Since they occasionally contacted each other, they were close. Kim Haseon evaluated Cheolsu as if he were someone important.
“A kid like that will make it big when he grows up.”
“Why?”
“His self-assertion has been extraordinary since he was young.”
“You’re Kim Seungseon but you insist you’re Kim Haseon too.”
At Yeonwoo’s playful words, Kim Haseon closed his mouth.
Yeonwoo either said jokes seriously or said them nonchalantly, so if you listened casually you could let them pass, but if you examined them closely, half his conversation was close to jokes.
Now he was confused whether his name was Haseon or Seungseon. YouTube comments mostly called him Seungseon too. He had given him such a perfect nickname that it was almost like a second name now.
Kim Haseon familiarly ignored Yeonwoo’s teasing and focused on the broadcast.
“You’re fucking terrible at foot volleyball.”
“Ah, that ball wasn’t good.”
“But other people hit it just fine?”
Yeonwoo silently wrapped some ssam and put it in his mouth.
“Wow, Kang Dojun is good at sports too. What can’t he do? Ah, manual skills.”
Kim Haseon played both drum and janggu by himself and giggled. He looked at Yeonwoo’s hair with disappointed eyes – it had grown to a moderate length after Hail had cut it nicely.
“It would have been funnier if I saw your rat-gnawed hair in real life.”
“Want to die?”
“We will now execute the courage test!”
“Oh what? You don’t dislike scary things?”
“Not really.”
Even during the deep-sea fishing days, when he was scared of the night sea and offered that special single room, Yeonwoo had stubbornly refused.
Soon the courage test began and the first turn with Kang Dojun, Biyu, and Hanjin appeared.
“Wow, they really designed it to be scary.”
Without responding to Kim Haseon’s words, Yeonwoo stared intently at Kang Dojun on screen.
“What are you doing, Yeonwoo?”
“What?”
“Are you scared? Should I change the channel?”
Thinking Yeonwoo was frozen stiff from fear since he wasn’t responding, Kim Haseon picked up the remote but was stopped.
“Why? It’s interesting. Just leave it.”
Even in the darkness, Kang Dojun’s handsome face was shining. While he was admiring his face, Hanjin tried to put his hand into the walnut basket to find candy but got his hand grabbed by a staff member in ghost makeup and screamed.
Yeonwoo flinched slightly and muttered:
“I did well to skip the mission.”
Then Yeonwoo and Jinhyeong’s turn came, and on screen they were portrayed as if plotting some conspiracy.
“What did you two talk about? Hul, Kang Dojun even tied your shoelaces.”
“Hyung is kind.”
Yeonwoo boasted with a proud face as if he had been praised.
Then Yeonwoo’s courage test began, and strangely the perspective switched to the staff member in ghost makeup.
*Tadadadadada!*
“What just ran past?”
The staff member’s soliloquy and subtitles had the word ‘eerie’ in large letters.
“Hey! What are you doing? You already passed! You didn’t even do the mission!”
“…Huh? I passed? Already?”
Along with the staff’s conversation sounds, Yeonwoo and Jinhyeong’s figures finally appeared on screen.
Subtitles saying ‘full speed sprint’ appeared letter by letter like hammering nails, and the bewildered face of the staff member waiting in ghost makeup at the last point was shown.
Soon pink cherry blossom CG was added around Yeonwoo and Jinhyeong running, with fresh subtitles showing the internet meme ‘Why are you coming out from there?’
Later, the scene of Yeonwoo and Jinhyeong whispering appeared once more, and this time the conversation content was revealed:
“Ready? We go up the stairs and from the 2nd floor we run at full speed.”
“Yes!”
Seeing that, Kim Haseon burst into laughter. Even while spitting out the contents of his mouth, he couldn’t stop laughing. At his dirty appearance, Yeonwoo frowned and pulled out tissues to throw at him.
Kim Haseon, who had barely caught his breath, wiped his tears and said:
“You ran because you were scared, right? So fucking funny.”
At his words that penetrated the reason for the action, Yeonwoo couldn’t say anything and just mumbled his lips.
But the spectacle was just beginning.
It seemed to end with Team B’s victory at a glance, but after next week’s preview broadcast, a short cookie video appeared as a surprise.
“It’s almost time to sleep, aren’t you going to wash up?”
“…I should wash up.”
Kang Dojun was shown organizing Yeonwoo’s scattered clothes after he hurried to wash up. Then a scene continued where Kang Dojun, while checking the hem of his pants, took something out of his pocket.
Feeling a bit anxious, Yeonwoo stared at the screen without blinking.
Soon the object in Kang Dojun’s hand was slowly close-upped like a scene from a horror movie, and the cookie video ended.
Kim Haseon, who was watching, muttered blankly:
“It’s garlic.”
“…Shut up.”

[Anyone who watched today’s Rural Conquest Grace episode lolololol]
Wasn’t today just a laughter party?lolololol Starting with Grace’s chant, Kim Cheolsu stubbornly insisting he’s Sehyeon, Kang Dojun losing the game for the puppy who can’t play foot volleyball, scene-stealer garlic lolololol Even adding horror movie BGM only to the cookie video that wasn’t added during the courage test was perfect☆
[lolololol Originally countryside puppies are scared of ghosts.]
â””Who says that?
â””That makes them cuter.
â””I think Kang Dojun hiding garlic is funnier lol he wanted to boost that dumb puppy’s spirits lol
â””Isn’t hiding it while knowing even worse? But if Kang Dojun hadn’t found the garlic, I wouldn’t have known Yeonwoo was scared of ghosts either lololol hyung-nim, please accept my deep bow
[No! Did they do a courage test today? Eing I got spoiled but I should watch it now. I can’t stand horror experiences.]
â””lol the typo is exquisite
[Yeonwoo’s courage test was really crazy]
Pain that doesn’t kill me only makes me stronger!! I’ll overcome fear with excellent strategy! Exactly that lolololololol
[lol the ghost-costumed staff chasing in a line looks like a movie scene lol]
â””For example…Train to BuX?
[The part where Yeonwoo wins with Jinhyeong’s eloquence is also hilarious (Jinhyeong: It’s bullshit but it makes sense…! pupil earthquake)]
â””Humans think better when urgent
â””But Yeonwoo isn’t human? Woof woof
[So this is where Jinhyeong’s gift certificate reason comes from lol]
From Grace 24 hours, Jinhyeong had department store gift certificates in his room, and it wasn’t even put in a drawer but preciously kept in a business card holder, so I wondered what it was, but it appears here lol!
I thought maybe he wasn’t using it as a memento of his first variety show filming, it’s just cute ã… ã… ã… As expected Jinhyeong. Grace. Grace-star forever
[No no, it just went up on the official social media saying he’ll use it now that he’s shown it off.]
└lolololol the writer is so moved ☆
â””Damn. I should wait in line at the department store. This is actually good.
â””You’re the type who becomes a sasaeng;;
â””Damn. It’s a joke ã… ã… ã…
[(Probably) Yeonwoo and Battle Stadium duo run hot!]
The reason I put “probably” is because I’m not certain. But after watching today’s Rural Conquest episode, I’m 99.9% convinced that the person who ran duo today as the confident BizLover was Yeonwoo.
Evidence 1.
The nickname obviously seemed like Yeonwoo. I can’t reveal the nick for privacy protection, but you’d think “ah this is Yeonwoo” just by looking.
Evidence 2.
It seemed like he was with a friend next to him, calling the friend Seungseon. And the person called Seungseon called him Yeonwoo.
+Additional explanation: Today on Wonseon’s YouTube live stream, a person presumed to be Yeonwoo briefly appeared and disappeared. All the chats going up then were asking if it was Yeonwoo.
Conclusion: Currently Yeonwoo is in Seoul, spending exciting time at Kim Haseon’s (YouTuber Wonseon’s real name) house today, even playing Battle Stadium.
Full story: I usually enjoy watching Wonseon’s YouTube too, so I entered Battle Stadium right after the live stream ended and just had a feeling.(You’d know just by looking at the nick.) Still, I was uncertain at first, but the friend’s voice sounded similar to Wonseon, and not listening to his friend and doing his own thing seemed definitely like Yeonwoo. Actually when choosing where to go first, he clicked the ping terribly (forgive Yeonwoo’s eyes). I tried to stay with him as discreetly as possible (actually we didn’t even stay together; he kept going to different places alone) and he’d be at low health in the blink of an eye. I really wanted to stay with Yeonwoo even a little longer so I searched for first aid kits with wide eyes lolololol Somehow possessed by a sniper to make our baby win, I shot everything; I’m still dazed about how I won. And after the game ended, I asked as indifferently and coolly as possible “Want to play one more round?” but got flatly rejected. So I just coolly left. I’m not trash who clings to people who clearly don’t want to^_^*
[Hul ã… ã… ã… I’m jealous of the writer ã… ã… ã… ]
â””Do you believe that; it’s fiction
[Hello, I think I also played duo with Yeonwoo, can I send the nick through chat?]
â””Damn. I just saw the chat. Yes that’s the right person.
â””Damn, please share your story too
â””Why do you believe this??;;
â””I’m 13 and he noticed I was elementary by my voice, then scolded me to study instead of gaming. But that person is worse at games than me.
â””Lol country young fuddy-duddy lol this is really Yeonwoo lol
[Who is Ber?]
â””lol fucking lol Ber died twice lol down-fall
