Chapter 49
“I think it’s about time to wake Soo-young up? Yeohoon, Cheong. Is Soo-young still sleeping?”
“No. I’m awake, Auntie.”
By the time I opened my eyes, we had almost arrived at home.
I’m not sure when they moved me, but when I came to my senses, I was sprawled out in the back seat of the car.
They had fixed my head so it wouldn’t move, and they’d done it so comfortably that my neck didn’t hurt, but the sensation of not being able to move as I wanted was quite tiresome, making me frown.
“Let me out of this thing.”
When I grumbled about how they were both watching me sleep but still hadn’t released me even though they saw I was awake, both Ji Yeohoon and Yoon Cheong smiled.
What’s so funny? I wanted to cover my face, which probably looked puffy, so I raised my hand.
Only then could I move my head as I wished.
They could have at least offered me their shoulders. In the past, they both used to sleep leaning on my shoulder, but they wouldn’t even give me their shoulders now.
The jerks. When I glared at them, they both gave me puzzled looks.
“Sir, have you been to our house by any chance?”
“Yes. I helped on moving day.”
“…So you saw it before your son did.”
“Soo-young, did you not know about the move?”
“No.”
When I nodded, Auntie’s eyes trembled.
It’s not my fault.
Whether it was because Yoon Cheong and Ji Yeohoon were normal middle and high school students, they weren’t the type to contact their parents often.
So I regularly sent photos and videos to Yoon Cheong’s parents and Ji Yeohoon’s parents, letting them know how they were doing.
There’s no way I wouldn’t do the same survival reports for my own parents that I did for those two guys’ parents.
I also contacted my parents regularly, at least once a week without fail.
Despite that, my parents had forgotten to tell me about the move.
Feeling somewhat melancholic, I let out a deep sigh, which made Auntie and Uncle look embarrassed. Yoon Cheong and Ji Yeohoon also wore expressions as if trying to comfort me.
“Don’t say anything more. I really feel like crying.”
“Okay.”
“Got it.”
Yoon Cheong and Ji Yeohoon closed their mouths.
Curious about our new house that they were visiting for the first time, Yoon Cheong and Ji Yeohoon took their eyes off me and looked ahead.
Since Ji Yeohoon’s house was the largest, both Yoon Cheong and I would head there whenever we got permission to leave school.
Partly because our schedules matched, but also because Yoon Cheong didn’t want to disturb his father during exam-setting periods, and his mother traveled frequently for work, so Ji Yeohoon’s parents always insisted we come over. As for me, I didn’t like seeing my mom struggle when I went home.
My parents worked hard as a dual-income household, and when I visited, both my dad and mom would focus on me instead of resting on the weekend.
Especially my mom, who even after getting pregnant, would busily run around preparing things for me whenever I visited, which made me more worried.
Since Ji Yeohoon’s house was spacious, when we gathered there, Yoon Cheong’s parents and my parents would also join. We’d get together at least once every few months to have meals and chat, and that became our routine.
Because of this, Yoon Cheong and Ji Yeohoon had never visited my house, and likewise, Ji Yeohoon and I had never been to Yoon Cheong’s house.
“Shall we go up then?”
“Since it’s the first time after moving, Soo-young should go first.”
“…I’m not an elementary school kid.”
Leaving the two adults treating me like a child behind, I walked with the two guys.
The new house was a fairly large detached house in a more suburban area than before, and I wondered if I would have just been happy about it if I were my original age.
Reflecting on my past self, working at the Association, looking for a place to live independently, and struggling with loan payments.
Compared to before my regression, Dad got promoted faster, and without me, their finances had definitely improved, but I felt they might have pushed themselves too hard.
“There’s a second floor…”
“The house is pretty.”
It’ll be hard to clean. No, let’s not think about that.
I went closer to open the front door, but there was a problem.
I placed my finger in front of the door lock and then took out my phone.
“I’ve arrived.”
– Why aren’t you coming in?
“I need to know the password to enter.”
Ji Yeohoon finally burst out laughing. Hey, man, why are you laughing?
Soon, Dad opened the door for us.
As soon as I entered, I grabbed Dad’s hand firmly and spoke as if making a plea.
“Dad, next time you move, you have to tell me too. I haven’t moved out yet, so please give me the password as well.”
“Sorry. Was my son very upset?”
“Quite a bit.”
“Your mom thought I told you, and I thought she did.”
Dad quickly took us to the second floor, saying he needed to make up for my hurt feelings.
There are more rooms than I expected. After quickly looking around the interior, I entered the room where he opened the door.
Some of my old belongings were placed there, but most things had been replaced.
The wardrobe was bigger, and the small desk that I hadn’t changed since transferring to the third school had somehow been replaced with a large, modern design desk.
The bookshelf was empty, but I guessed they wanted me to fill it as I wished.
“It’s the largest room on the second floor.”
“Why is the bed… so huge?”
“Ah, our son has grown, so the bed should be bigger too. Your mom remembered how you once talked about Ji Yeohoon’s huge bed. You seemed envious, so we decided to get you a big one this time.”
I appreciate the large bed, but Mom and Dad, that was just something I said casually when I was in elementary school—how did you remember that?
I just nodded in understanding.
As soon as I sat on the bed, Yoon Cheong and Ji Yeohoon quickly sat on either side of me. I was curious about my new room, and the two guys were also looking around with interest.
Today unexpectedly turned into a housewarming.
Even after moving, the housewarming had been postponed due to Mom’s pregnancy, but because of today’s incident, we unexpectedly gathered and it became a housewarming dinner.
Though it wasn’t proper since both of Yoon Cheong’s parents weren’t here.
“What will Cheong and Yeohoon do later? Should I prepare different rooms for you to sleep in?”
“No, it’s fine.”
“I’ll sleep with him.”
Wait, who gave you permission?
I looked at the two guys in disbelief, and they put on those innocent faces again.
Dad told them to go ahead and went downstairs first, while I stared at the two of them.
“Stop making those faces, both of you.”
“What did we do?”
“Your eyes are bigger than usual, Yoon Cheong. Ji Yeohoon, stop squinting your eyes.”
“Ah, hyuuung~”
Yoon Cheong, who usually has a cool expression when his face is neutral, knows that he looks more gentle when he widens his eyes a bit, and that’s why he’s doing it.
Ji Yeohoon also has a kind face when you look at him calmly. His face brightens up immediately when he smiles slightly.
These are the kind of cute acts they sometimes put on, and they were preemptively doing it because they knew I was going to nag.
“Won’t you be uncomfortable? You both used a lot of your abilities today. You must be tired, so why insist on sleeping here?”
“Hyung, the bed is king-sized.”
“I know that, but…”
“I’ve only ever used a double bed. Aren’t you curious?”
“I just have a single in my room.”
I don’t care about your bed sizes.
Even with a king-sized bed, to sleep with these two guys who are now as big as adults…
They blinked their eyes deliberately, saying they were curious about what’s different about a king-sized bed, and these good-looking jerks using their faces made me lose my words, so I ended up nodding.
Ah, I shouldn’t have given in.
“Alright, alright. But don’t sleep too close to me. You guys always get too close when you lie down to sleep, and it gets hot.”
Their body temperatures aren’t particularly high, so it’s not really hot, but I grumbled on purpose.
There are many spare rooms in the house, and I wanted them to sleep separately so they could rest well if they were tired.
But from the first day in this house, I ended up having to sleep with these guys.
Knowing my clothes wouldn’t fit them, I left them on the bed and went downstairs after changing my clothes.
In the meantime, Uncle must have gone out and come back because he handed me two fairly large sets of clothes.
He told me to have them wear these clothes and sent me back upstairs, but they seemed somewhat frozen as they went up, which was strange.
I tried to focus on the sounds from upstairs, but I couldn’t hear anything. It didn’t seem like they were fighting, so I lost interest again.
“I put a lot of noodles in the braised chicken! Son, that’s good, right?”
“Wouldn’t it have been better to just order delivery?”
I hurriedly went to Mom’s side and helped carry the prepared food.
When I placed the food on the large table in the living room, I saw that there was already a lot of prepared food.
I was worried that the baby in the womb might scold me for making a pregnant woman work hard, or for making Mom work hard.
When I pulled Mom’s hand saying, “Mom, sit down quickly,” the adults laughed at me.
Why? What did I do?
“We always said you were an old soul because you were so mature, but now that you’re having a sibling, you seem to be acting your age.”
“I’m a bit surprised too.”
“How much you’re going to carry your little sibling around~”
It’s because I’m worried, as this is my first sibling both before and after my regression, but the adults had the look of finding something to tease me about.
In reality, I have a headache because so many things have gone awry due to my regression.
I was anxiously fidgeting because I was worried something might go wrong with Mom.
Only after seeing Mom sit on the sofa did I plop down as well and fill an empty plate with braised chicken and noodles to hand to her.
“Mom, here…”
“Soo-young.”
“Yes?”
“Guests first.”
And Mom was always one step ahead of me.
Dad also had plates in his hands, and those plates naturally reached the guests first.
I nodded at my parents’ actions, pointing to the guys who were coming down after changing clothes.
I divided the meat, noodles, and vegetables almost equally between the two plates.
“Both of you come and eat quickly.”
Only after the two guys sat down did I pick up my own portion.
The sweet braised chicken that I hadn’t had in a long time was delicious, and I ate quite a lot.
While our parents chatted, I washed up and went to my room, and sure enough, the two guys were sticking close together.
I tapped them to move apart, but they pretended not to hear me.
“Come on, I need to be able to turn over when I sleep, you know.”
“Hyung, you sleep well without moving.”
“That’s because I can’t turn over when you guys stick to me like this!”
“Liar. You’re fine even when you sleep alone.”
“How would you know that!”
“How long have we been watching you~?”
Ah, let’s just see for a day or two, please.
I wanted to sleep, but they were so close that it was very stuffy.
Now they’re bigger than me and will eventually become huge, with their heads turned toward me as they lay on their sides, it was even becoming burdensome.
“I’m going to sleep, then. Move away a bit. Just a little bit. I won’t leave, I promise!”
“Okay, okay. Sleep well.”
“Good night.”
Yoon Cheong put his arm over my chest, and Ji Yeohoon hugged my arm.
With a resigned attitude, I tightly closed my eyes.
As the darkness gradually became familiar and my body began to sink into sleep, quiet voices echoed.
“Is he asleep?”
“He must have been tired. Let’s lower our voices.”
“You too, hyung.”
Even though my mind was half-sunken into sleep, the low bickering voices were familiar, and it was a bit funny how they were trying not to wake me.
“Hyung is smiling.”
“Yeah.”
With that voice as the finale, I fell back into a deep sleep, feeling the faint sounds and familiar warmth on both my cheeks.
