I Wish They’d Just Leave Me Alone 47

Chapter 47

Yoon Cheong’s parents were moved to a special hospital room.

It didn’t happen right away, but only after they barely passed through the critical condition, moving with extreme caution.

All sorts of equipment moved together, and several Calling Guild members accompanied them like guards.

The doctors and nurses seemed tense, perhaps because Espers were moving along with them, and they were careful with even the slightest movement to prevent shock, being meticulous with every finger movement.

Everyone was concerned about how to move them without straining the patients who were still in a dangerous condition, whether it was the wheel movements or bed rotations.

At first, someone suggested finding an Esper with teleportation abilities, but Chaehwa Guild responded that it wasn’t possible.

The teleportation ability user in Korea manifests their power through contact, and people who teleport with them often complain of dizziness.

They couldn’t put such a burden on critically ill patients.

And sadly, the S-class Esper with area teleportation abilities isn’t Korean.

Even though they could use their ability to come to Korea immediately, the request was promptly rejected as they couldn’t ask for this potentially risky operation.

The second method involved Yoon Cheong, the son of the patients.

“I can do it.”

He could make them float as if flying.

With no friction, there would be relatively less shock. With Yoon Cheong’s ability, he could lift not only people but also the equipment and bed all at once.

They actually tried it with spare equipment and found it sufficient.

Of course, there was some impact when setting things down, but once inside the hospital room, Esper healing would immediately pour in, so there would be no problem.

Although Yoon Cheong would need to maintain concentration continuously, the fact that he could receive guiding from me immediately was another plus.

“Then could you help keep the path to the elevator clear?”

I spoke while Yoon Cheong was concentrating.

In case Yoon Cheong’s strength wasn’t enough, Ji Yeohoon also stood by near me.

Since he would likely tire quickly depending on how much he concentrated and how much he cared, everyone was tense, trying not to interfere even if they couldn’t help.

The bed where Yoon Cheong’s mother lay and the equipment were lifted a few centimeters off the ground.

Surprisingly, an Esper was responsible for the power supply during the move.

It was an electricity ability user from “Chaehwa,” which is under the Association. They held something like a transformer to supply electricity, with sockets connected to the machines.

Of course, medical equipment is basically rechargeable, but it seemed they had called the Esper to reduce all variables.

Hospital doctors followed behind with anxious faces, worried that the oxygen respirator might malfunction during the flight.

“Please open the elevator doors.”

The electricity ability user, the bed, and the equipment first entered the elevator, followed by Yoon Cheong.

The minimum number of doctors and nurses boarded, and I stuck close to Yoon Cheong for guiding. Ji Yeohoon also got on after us.

When Ji Yeohoon pressed the floor button and the doors closed, there seemed to be a sound of relief from outside the elevator.

They might be relieved, but we’re dying from concentration here.

The red numbers change floor by floor.

When we reached the VIP room floor and the doors opened, those who had boarded the elevator also moved carefully.

“Is the hospital room door open?”

“Yes, you can go right in. We’ve secured the inside so the door won’t close.”

Ji Yeohoon’s parents were going to be in the hospital room.

The equipment was first set down on the floor of the hospital room, and while the electricity ability user, doctors, and nurses who had followed quickly connected the equipment to the room’s outlets, the aunt immediately used her ability.

Light with a forsythia color poured down.

The uncle guided from behind, and I was embracing Yoon Cheong, transferring my energy to him for the next move.

But the wounds were healing slower than expected.

I thought it couldn’t be helped since it was a major injury, but at this rate, the aunt’s ability might not reach Yoon Cheong’s father.

“Ji Yeohoon.”

“Yes, I understand.”

As if he had been waiting, Ji Yeohoon raised his hand, and when he applied enhancement, the healing light changed to pure white.

“This is…”

“Oh…”

While the ability of healing-type Espers can be seen in the speed at which injuries heal, it can be more clearly estimated by the brightness of the light.

The higher the rank, the brighter and more luminous the light becomes.

I had seen S-class Esper healing before.

Just once before my regression, when several Espers and Guides from Chaehwa Guild were injured.

I was amazed to see a dazzlingly white light pouring down that could truly be described as sacred, but I never expected to see it again.

And from the B-class aunt, no less.

To think Ji Yeohoon’s enhancement ability could temporarily inflate a B-class Esper’s ability to S-class level. I thought his enhancement ability was incredible, but it seemed to drain a lot of energy.

Not long after enhancing, Ji Yeohoon gritted his teeth.

Since he was already using his ability, it would be difficult to guide him, so I finished giving the remaining guiding to Yoon Cheong and stepped away.

“Do you think you can do it now?”

“Yes.”

I felt anew how much they had both grown.

I knew they were growing taller every day, and their resemblance to their pre-regression appearances added to that newness, but it was clearly visible how well they endured hardship.

Although they were still in their growth phase with unstable abilities, they had a stability that made them seem no less capable of control than adults.

“Ji Yeohoon, are you okay?”

“Yes. I’m fine. I can handle it well enough.”

The uncle and aunt had no capacity to worry about Ji Yeohoon too.

Having received a buff beyond their ability level, they were already overwhelmed just controlling their powers.

When healing an Esper, even excessive energy can be withstood, but when healing a normal person, they had to be careful not to overflow.

Excessive healing could become poisonous, so they had to pour in just enough energy until right before complete healing.

I couldn’t know exactly what it felt like, but I understood it was similar to pouring in just enough energy and then detaching to guide multiple people at once.

As the healing subsided, Ji Yeohoon also released his power.

Yoon Cheong’s mother hadn’t regained consciousness yet, but her electrocardiogram had returned to normal.

“Hyung…”

Ji Yeohoon raised the back of his hand to cover near his nose.

Yoon Cheong quickly brought tissues and held them to Ji Yeohoon’s nose. The tissues soon turned red.

See that? Even though he talks big, he takes good care of his younger brother.

“You did well.”

But we still had to do it once more.

I pulled the now taller-than-me Ji Yeohoon by the back of his neck and pressed my cheek against his.

I could feel the energy flowing out faster than it had with Yoon Cheong.

I considered whether I should also guide the electricity ability Esper, but decided to do that later after both patients’ treatments were completed. (Due to matching rates, the uncle would only guide the aunt.)

After insisting he was fine earlier, Ji Yeohoon now hugged me and made a half-whining sound about how difficult it had been.

“Are you a child? Aren’t you going to be in high school next year?”

“But I’ll always be younger than you, Hyung.”

“So you’re going to whine every time?”

“Yes~.”

“That’s disgusting.”

“Don’t put me down when you can’t do it yourself, Hyung.”

They seemed fine but still bickered.

It’s true that thanks to moments like these, I recall their pre-regression selves less often.

They used to be quite intimidating Espers who always had intensity in their eyes, but just when I thought they had grown up, they became childlike again.

When the flow of energy decreased, I pulled my cheek away.

“Aunt, will you be okay for the next one?”

“Yes, we’re almost done here.”

“Then we’ll go ahead first.”

“I’ll be waiting.”

The aunt’s expression looked quite haggard as she answered while buried in the uncle’s arms.

An Esper’s power is essentially used by consuming stamina, and since she was healing a normal person’s injuries, it seemed she was severely mentally fatigued.

I was planning to use D-class Guide energy for the Chaehwa Esper, so I asked them to hang on just until the next one, as using it now would likely tire me out.

They don’t look too exhausted, so I’m thinking of just talking to the Association.

We returned to the ICU with the doctors.

The reason we moved Yoon Cheong’s mother first was that her condition was relatively worse, so we wanted to heal her quickly.

We moved exactly as we had before.

The entire move to the adjacent VIP room was quiet.

Even after one success, relaxing our guard could lead to an accident.

“Ms. Kang Ha-yeon’s condition is stable. She just needs to wake up now.”

Another doctor who had come to the room reported immediately, confirming that the condition of Yoon Cheong’s mother, who had received healing first, was definitely good.

Treatment for Yoon Cheong’s father also began in the hospital room, and Yoon Cheong quietly watched me.

Knowing that his part was somewhat over, his expression didn’t change much, but to someone who had known him for a long time, it was clear his face was quite distorted.

I sighed deeply and approached him.

“Here.”

When I opened my arms, he placed his hands on my back and pulled me in.

Despite it being quite uncomfortable, he just leaned his forehead on my shoulder and breathed heavily.

There were no words I could offer.

All I could do was place my hand on his back, pat it gently, and guide him.

In a situation where I couldn’t know if words like “good job,” “you worked hard,” or “hang in there” would really be comforting, I couldn’t speak hastily.

All I could do was maintain contact a bit longer than usual.

That alone seemed enough, as he finally released the shocked feelings and difficult emotions he had been holding in.

My left shoulder felt cold.

He was crying in his own way, true to his character.

“It’s over…”

As things were wrapping up, Yoon Cheong excused himself to the bathroom to wipe his face, and the people who had been focusing on Yoon Cheong’s father finally turned their heads toward me.

“Soo-young, you’ve worked hard too. Please take care of our Yeohoon.”

The aunt’s face was almost half-drained of life, and the uncle embraced her and went outside.

This time, thanks to preparing tissues in advance, Ji Yeohoon could cover his nose with his own hand.

Saying “Hyung-” with a smile, he naturally embraced me, but he was definitely struggling as his strength was greater than usual.

“That hurts, you idiot.”

“Sorry. I’m a bit desperate, Hyung.”

When I transferred energy and removed Ji Yeohoon’s hand, all the capillaries in both nostrils had burst, making the inside completely red.

“Are you okay?”

“A little?”

He deliberately joked, saying he might be short on blood, which seemed like he was telling me not to worry, making me sigh.

I told him to grow up to be good, not foolish.

I thought it would be tough if I kept my cheek pressed against his like before.

“Stop just saying you’re fine.”

“I’m a bit tired.”

The amount of energy transferring seemed insufficient, so it wasn’t returning quickly.

I slightly turned my head from where it was pressed.

Not once since my regression…

“Uh… Hyung?”

I’ve never used my lips before.

Keeping my lips pressed against his cheek, I hugged Ji Yeohoon tightly.
