I Want to Be Your Guide 75

# Chapter 75

The person who suddenly cursed was someone whose face Hwayeon recognized. How could he not know someone whose face was prominently displayed in the lobby where everyone passed by?

Choi Domin. Jeongyun’s Dedicated Esper and the biggest obstacle for Hwayeon.

“Mr. Choi Domin.”

Jeongyun stood up and called out to Domin.

In response, Domin brushed back his disheveled hair and flicked his finger, causing the door to close by itself. This must be his ability.

“You ignore all my pages, but you’re busy giving Guiding to some other guy?”

Jeongyun didn’t respond to Domin’s sarcastic remark. Domin’s gaze shifted from Jeongyun to Hwayeon, filled with murderous intent.

Hwayeon tried to glare back at Domin, but Jeongyun moved faster, standing between them. As soon as his small back blocked Hwayeon’s view, Hwayeon relaxed his eyes that had been tensing up.

“I’m in the middle of Guiding right now, so please leave.”

“Mr. Yeo Jeongyun, did you just tell me to leave?”

Domin laughed in disbelief. But Jeongyun firmly answered, “Yes.” Domin’s laughter stopped abruptly. A deep sigh could be heard.

With his view blocked by Jeongyun, Hwayeon moved his head around trying to see what was happening. Feeling frustrated, he suddenly stood up.

Being a head taller than Jeongyun, Hwayeon could easily see Domin on the other side. The two men were silently glaring at each other, as if they had completely forgotten about Hwayeon’s existence.

Just as Hwayeon was starting to feel uncomfortable, Domin stepped forward and tried to grab Jeongyun. Hwayeon quickly moved between them, completely hiding Jeongyun behind him.

“Don’t touch him as you please.”

Domin burst into incredulous laughter at Hwayeon’s warning. He was already annoyed by this obviously younger guy speaking so rudely to him, but knowing that this was Min Hwayeon who had gone to see Semin made him even more upset.

“Move aside.”

“You’re the one who should stop interfering and leave.”

It was hard to tell who was actually interfering with whom in this situation. Should I just throw him outside? Quickly ending this meaningless consideration, Domin finally raised his hand and swept it to the side.

“Ugh!”

“Hwayeon!”

Pushed by an invisible force, Hwayeon suddenly disappeared from Domin’s sight. Jeongyun was shocked to see Hwayeon fall to the floor, and Domin approached him, speaking in a calm voice.

“I came to talk, so please spare me some time.”

Only then did Jeongyun realize that Hwayeon had been thrown because of Domin’s ability. His eyes narrowed sharply. Domin barely managed to stop his hand that was about to move on its own.

“I have nothing more to discuss with you, Mr. Choi Domin.”

Jeongyun firmly refused to talk.

Domin couldn’t even guess why Jeongyun was pushing him away so strongly. He had completely cut ties with Ju Saeon, so there shouldn’t be any issues anymore.

But still, why?

“Hwayeon, are you okay?”

Finally, Jeongyun ran to Hwayeon, leaving Domin behind, and asked in a kind voice that was completely different from before. Seeing this attitude that was clearly different from how Jeongyun treated him, a vein bulged on Domin’s forehead.

“I’m fine.”

He had only pushed him to the side, so it shouldn’t hurt. What kind of Esper would be hurt by something so trivial? Yet this fox-like guy was pretending to be weak and trying to lean on Jeongyun.

Unable to just watch this, Domin raised his hand to use his telekinesis to separate Jeongyun from Hwayeon. But this time, Hwayeon wasn’t going to just take it.

“Hyung, move to the side.”

“What—”

Sparks flew from Hwayeon’s fingertips, and bright red flames rose in front of Domin. Strangely, the fire had no effect on Jeongyun and was only guarding against Domin.

While Domin stepped back from the intense heat, Hwayeon’s hand wrapped around Jeongyun’s shoulder. Domin, who had been caught off guard, finally noticed that hand and gritted his teeth.

“You bastard, get your hand off him.”

In response to Domin’s warning, Hwayeon pulled Jeongyun even closer as if to show off. The furniture in the Guiding room began to shake as if it would float up to the ceiling at any moment. Sensing that something ominous was about to happen, Hwayeon also prepared to attack.

Just as their sanity was about to snap after being precariously maintained, Jeongyun pushed Hwayeon away.

“Hwayeon, put out the fire. Mr. Choi Domin, put your hand down. What are you two doing in my Guiding room?”

“But that bastard—”

“Hyung, that bastard first—”

Both of them protested at the same time with full indignation, but Jeongyun didn’t listen. Eventually, Domin gently put down the shaking furniture, and Hwayeon extinguished the burning fire.

‘If I leave them like this, the Guiding room might explode.’

If two A-class Espers properly fought each other, not just Jeongyun’s Guiding room but the entire floor might be destroyed. Though he had barely calmed them down for now, he couldn’t keep two ticking time bombs together.

“Hwayeon, could you step outside for a moment?”

“What? Why?”

Hwayeon asked with wide eyes, as if he couldn’t believe it. Jeongyun approached Hwayeon and held his trembling hand. He soothed Hwayeon, who looked like he might cry at any moment, saying it would only be for a short time.

“Really just for a moment?”

“Yes, it’ll be over quickly.”

Hwayeon had no choice but to follow Jeongyun’s words and leave the Guiding room. The door closed after Hwayeon’s final words that he would wait outside, and Jeongyun was left alone with Domin.

As Jeongyun turned around, Domin approached him as if he had been waiting. Jeongyun had to tilt his head up due to their height difference, and Domin met his gaze directly, asking through gritted teeth:

“You’ve been continuing to give Guiding to that bastard?”

“I have to continue since it’s my job.”

Jeongyun calmly answered as if Domin was asking the obvious. Despite all his warnings, Jeongyun’s attitude of completely ignoring them made Domin barely swallow the harsh words that had risen to the tip of his tongue.

He had come to talk, and getting angry now would ruin everything. This situation couldn’t go on forever. For the sake of the Dedicated contract, and to receive smooth Guiding, soothing Jeongyun’s feelings was the priority now.

“There’s really nothing between me and Ju Saeon.”

Thinking about it, Jeongyun’s attitude had started to change from the day he encountered Saeon at Domin’s house. What Domin had dismissed as nothing had probably been a big shock to Jeongyun.

So Domin decided to properly explain what happened that day, though belatedly. This time, he needed to make it clear that he had completely ended things with Saeon so Jeongyun wouldn’t misunderstand.

“So what I want to say is… I’ll draw a clear line just as you want. I’ll make sure I never run into Ju Saeon, even by chance.”

“…”

“Isn’t that enough?”

After finishing, Domin studied Jeongyun’s expression. Jeongyun quickly turned his head as if trying to hide his wavering eyes.

A gap appeared again. It was wide enough for Domin to exploit. There was still hope.

“Mr. Yeo Jeongyun.”

As Domin took a step forward, Jeongyun stepped back hesitantly. Domin grasped Jeongyun’s chin and gently lifted it. His eyes, unable to hide their emotion, were still wandering around.

‘Just a C-class after all.’

Thinking carefully, his obsession with Jeongyun was abnormal. He hated even the thought of Jeongyun touching other Espers. No, he hated even other Espers showing interest in Jeongyun.

When Saeon had been his Dedicated Guide, Domin hadn’t cared whether Saeon slept with other Espers or kissed them, but with Jeongyun, he became aggressive even if Jeongyun just held hands with others.

‘Have I gone crazy from insufficient Guiding?’

Domin concluded that all this was because his Guiding was insufficient. He instinctively knew this wasn’t the answer, but if not that, he couldn’t explain his behavior.

It was because his Guiding was lacking, insufficient, and that’s why his mind was going crazy. If not that, then why did he keep wanting to kiss Yeo Jeongyun, hug him, touch him?

‘Calm down.’

Domin barely kept hold of his hand that was trying to escape his will, and regained his fading rationality. After exhaling a short breath, he began to properly appease Jeongyun.

“From now on, I won’t do anything you dislike and will try my best to accommodate you. We can rewrite the contract, and if you want, I’ll even return the Guiding decision rights to you. So, about terminating the Dedicated contract—”

“No, there’s no need for that.”

They say eyes are the windows to the soul. But unlike Jeongyun’s eyes, which had shown a wide opening toward Domin, his voice was as firm as a sharp knife.

Jeongyun carefully pushed away Domin’s hand. The hand fell weakly and returned to Domin. After losing his words, Domin could only utter a single word after some time had passed.

“Why?”
