# Chapter 34
“By the way, Lee Ha-min. Was it okay for your first real battle? Were you scared?”
When I asked, Lee Ha-min nodded and said he wasn’t worried at all thanks to Byun Tae-young Esper.
“Whenever I seemed to be in even a little danger, he would immediately throw a fireball to draw the monster’s attention. That’s why I could attack safely.”
I wondered if Byun Tae-young was that considerate, so I looked at him.
But thinking about it, this wasn’t the first time.
Now that his obsessive madness had been tamed, he seemed to be overflowing with consideration.
‘Excellent. Excellent.’
“But Lee Ha-min has amplification ability, so how does that appear in the dungeon?”
When Kyun In asked, Byun Tae-young explained instead.
“It’s amazing. Even when I throw the same level of fireball, if Lee Ha-min uses his amplification ability, its power becomes enormous. The size of the fireball isn’t really what matters, you know. It’s about the heat. But Lee Ha-min makes that possible. If I create just enough heat to cause some scorching, when Lee Ha-min uses his amplification ability, the monster just starts dissolving and turns to ash.”
Lee Ha-min quickly waved both hands saying that wasn’t right.
“That time I wanted to test my ability, so I used my amplification to the extreme. You shouldn’t think I can freely use my ability like that normally. And I also experienced unstable wavelengths, which was really fascinating. I think I need to keep exploring that. I need to figure out how much I can do and where the appropriate limit is.”
I couldn’t believe Lee Ha-min was saying such things.
I thought he was just a child, but when did he grow up enough to say things like that?
As if knowing I was looking at him fondly, Lee Ha-min smiled.
“I want to check too. What would happen if we worked together? Would monsters just go flying and crashing with just a little effort from me?”
When Kyun In said this, Shim Woo-jin’s eyes also lit up.
He didn’t speak up, but I could guess what he was thinking.
And I had the same question he did.
If Lee Ha-min’s amplification ability was applied to Shim Woo-jin, would a terrible sight unfold before the monster, a scene so frightening they couldn’t even breathe?
“Next time, would you like to go with me, Lee Ha-min Esper?”
At Shim Woo-jin’s words, Lee Ha-min agreed.
I thought Kyun In would step in and ask Lee Ha-min to go with him, but Kyun In was quiet.
Wondering if he wasn’t particularly interested in that, I looked at him curiously, and he asked why I was looking at him.
“Nothing. It’s nothing.”
“Your cheeks are full of curses. Don’t hold back, say it.”
“I don’t curse.”
“You shouldn’t say it like that, Seo Eunwoo Esper. You should say, ‘I don’t curse out loud.’ That’s how you should put it.”
I just chuckled at Kyun In’s words, and the other two S-class Espers looked at us with curiosity.
“I don’t understand why he’s letting this go so quietly. By now, he should be boiling with anger.”
At Byun Tae-young’s words, I thought the same, but Kyun In let it slide.
“I didn’t think we’d have new people moving into our dormitory, but finally someone is moving in.”
Kyun In seemed pleased about this.
“Don’t bring your belongings. Ah, bring clothes and shoes. I’ll prepare the rest. Trust my aesthetic sense. You two, send two hundred million won each to my account first.”
What’s with the two hundred million won?
When I said I didn’t have money, Kyun In looked at me as if he couldn’t understand.
“Why is Seo Eunwoo Esper saying that?”
“You said to send money.”
“Ah. I was talking to Shim Woo-jin and Byun Tae-young. How much money would a D-class Esper have?”
The two seemed to have understood from the beginning and appeared to be sending money using their smartphones.
“Transfer complete.”
“Me too, done.”
Kyun In checked the money and nodded.
“Do you have any particular color tone you want?”
Lee Ha-min shook his head, and I said I wanted light green but was rejected.
“Light green? Why did I even ask.”
No. Why? Please respect my taste?
“Eunwoo would look good in dark navy.”
Shim Woo-jin added his opinion.
I thought his words would be ignored too, but Kyun In said it was exactly what he had been thinking.
“Really? I was thinking dark red.”
Byun Tae-young said, then added that dark navy would be good too.
Why does everyone add “dark”?
Am I that dark?
Lee Ha-min, why are you nodding?
No one respected my taste.
Light green.
Please, light green.
***
Hmph.
I don’t want to admit it but.
I want to say it’s needlessly flashy but.
It was good. So good I didn’t want to leave my room.
Shim Woo-jin gave me a speaker set as a housewarming gift…
Normally, I would have thought I’d buy it and never use it, but honestly, that wasn’t the case.
While listening to songs Shim Woo-jin played, I thought it would be nice to build up my musical knowledge and had been wanting to listen to the songs he mentioned, so it was hard to imagine a gift I would like more.
But Byun Tae-young accomplished that difficult task.
He said he would fill my closet so I shouldn’t think about putting anything strange in there, and he really did it.
When Kyun In saw the closet, he burst out laughing saying “crazy bastard” and guaranteed the clothes in the closet would be worth over 200 million won.
The shoe rack was the same, and according to Kyun In, the shoes would be worth almost 100 million won.
It would have been fine if it ended with just a few outfits, but everything else seemed excessive.
But each item was really nice.
When the two suddenly had such a battle, Kyun In asked what car I wanted and got a new one.
A car that normally takes over three months of waiting arrived at the Center in less than a week.
The reputation of S-class Espers wasn’t limited to the country, and not all S-class Espers were treated the same. The S-class Espers at our Center received special treatment because they were globally top-class.
While I was receiving such gifts, I worried that Lee Ha-min might feel left out, but I didn’t need to worry.
His closet and shoe rack were filled similarly to mine, and he also received a watch worth around 100 million won and a car.
The S-class Espers insisted they divided the cost equally and demanded our gratitude.
Lee Ha-min deserved it for providing Guiding to them and directly contributing to their lifespan, but I felt like I had received too big a gift. They repeatedly said it was nothing compared to what they earned, so I shouldn’t worry about it.
For a while, I thought they were saying that so I wouldn’t worry.
I had guessed that S-class Espers earned a lot, but when I heard they earned over 500 million won per month, and up to 1 billion won depending on the number and danger level of dungeons, I felt deflated for some reason.
‘If this is the case, is there any reason for me to keep lowering my rank? The S-class Espers seem to have noticed anyway, and even if they know my true ability, they don’t seem like they would just try to hide behind me.’
That became the decisive trigger.
After learning how much S-class Espers earned, hiding my power felt too meaningless.
‘So should I get tested again?’
While I was thinking about that, the situation resolved from an unexpected direction.
It was through Kyun In, whom I hadn’t expected.
Looking back, Kyun In resolved many things that way.
Many issues were resolved after starting with Kyun In.
“Seo Eunwoo Esper. We all know now, so how about checking your exact matching rate?”
“If we do that, the Center staff will know too. Do you think that’s okay?”
“Not all Center staff need to know. The machine does it anyway. And we can read the machine. So we’ll quietly stake out where the machine is.”
I thought this wasn’t a matter to be taken so lightly.
Since it was such a serious issue, I wondered if the Center had set it up so they would know as soon as the machine was powered on.
But Shim Woo-jin assured me that I didn’t need to worry about that.
Unlike his appearance, he was knowledgeable about machines and knew how the machines in the Center were connected.
If that problem was solved, I agreed to find out the matching rate since it would be good for me to have accurate information about each person.
Lee Ha-min was interested and wanted to come along to see, but the S-class Espers stopped him.
They seemed worried that Lee Ha-min might try to check his matching rate with me again.
If he did, he would know their previous words were lies, and it would be difficult to manage.
I didn’t actively persuade the S-class Espers either, and we quietly snuck into where the matching rate measuring machine was.
When the machine powered on and I looked at the three of them, they initially seemed reluctant and looked at each other.
Then, as if thinking we wouldn’t get anywhere if they kept doing that, Shim Woo-jin stepped forward first.
The person on the machine couldn’t see what their matching rate was.
I really couldn’t understand who designed the machine that way.
I thought Kyun In and Byun Tae-young might conspire and tell me a lower number.
Just like they did with Lee Ha-min.
“How much is it?”
“42.”
“26.”
Kyun In and Byun Tae-young spoke without coordinating, just saying whatever.
If Kyun In had spoken, Byun Tae-young should have kept quiet, but they spoke almost simultaneously.
Have these people forgotten I’m a physical enhancement user?
