Shen Yuqing froze in place, his expression as if struck by lightning.
His voice trembled slightly, “Wh-what?”
Xiao Zhao didn’t understand why Shen Yuqing was reacting this way, but he dutifully repeated, “Yesterday, you were hanging on Young Master Pei’s back and kissed his scent gland.”
Xiao Zhao thought for a moment and added, “You also seemed to have bitten him. There’s a bite mark on the left side of Young Master Pei’s neck this morning. But don’t worry the doctor checked him, and you didn’t bite hard enough to injure him.”
Boom another thunderclap echoed in Shen Yuqing’s mind. His hanging heart finally dropped dead.

Xiao Zhao watched Shen Yuqing standing motionless and assumed he was feeling unwell again. He quickly stepped forward and said, “The doctor who came last night suggested you go to the hospital for a check-up after waking up today.”

Shen Yuqing’s lips moved slightly. “Okay.”
Then he asked, “Where’s Pei Yiyan?”
“Young Master Pei is in class. Would you like to see him?” Xiao Zhao inquired.
Shen Yuqing shook his head violently. “No! Let’s go to the hospital right now.”
He had no memory of what happened last night, but that didn’t mean he had the courage to face Pei Yiyan now.
This was terrifying.

Xiao Zhao assumed he was still feeling unwell. “Then please dry your hair quickly. I’ll call the driver to take you for the check-up.”
Shen Yuqing hummed in agreement, though he knew there was no real need for an examination it was just alcohol poisoning.
His temples throbbed. How strange in his past life, he had never blacked out from drinking. Why was this body suddenly experiencing memory loss?
Could it be because of the original owner?
Shen Yuqing exhaled deeply. This was truly a headache. He didn’t even dare to pull up Pei Yiyan’s stats last night’s favorability must have plummeted to rock bottom.
He dragged his feet toward the walk-in closet to change into outdoor clothes when suddenly, the bedroom door opened again. Assuming it was Xiao Zhao, he didn’t turn around and said, “I’m changing. You can wait downstairs.”
But after a few steps, when no reply came, Shen Yuqing glanced back only to see Pei Yiyan striding in briskly with his cane.

For the first time, Shen Yuqing felt that it was a good thing Pei Yiyan couldn’t see. If he could, he’d probably strangle him right now.
A bitter smile surfaced on his face. But even without sight, yesterday’s behavior was enough to land him in hot water. His fingers unconsciously twisted together.

The nervousness and embarrassment he displayed now were unmistakably genuine.

Pei Yiyan observed him quietly. Finally, Shen Yuqing located the lightpad and slowly approached, extending it toward him.

Pei Yiyan extended his hand, palm down, clearly indicating for Shen Yuqing to put it on for him.
Shen Yuqing swallowed hard, not daring to look at Pei Yiyan’s face again. Carefully, he unfastened the strap and secured it around Pei Yiyan’s wrist, double-checking to ensure it was properly fastened.
As Pei Yiyan watched Shen Yuqing bow his head obediently to fasten the lightpad, his mind flashed back to last night how Shen Yuqing had pinned him down, nuzzling insistently against his chest, collarbone, and neck, treating him like a cat to be petted.
Shen Yuqing murmured, “It’s on.”
Pei Yiyan withdrew his hand. “Mm.”
Gripping his cane, he prepared to leave. Shen Yuqing bit his lip and followed, hesitating before finally saying, “Um, about last night I blacked out. If I did anything, I hope you’re not angry.”
An apology? Now that was new.
The infamous second young master of the Shen family, known for his arrogance, actually lowering his head to apologize.
Pei Yiyan couldn’t help but glance at him a few more times.
Having broken the ice, Shen Yuqing found it easier to continue: “I’m heading to the hospital for a checkup. Do you want to come along and get your glands examined too?”
Pei Yiyan replied flatly, “No need. It’s not like they’ll work anyway.”
“Don’t say that,” Shen Yuqing said quickly. “You’ll recover eventually.”
Pei Yiyan didn’t respond, simply walking toward the living room with his cane.
Wu Yi was already waiting there, with Lucky packed in a carrier apparently, they were heading out too.
After speaking with Pei Yiyan, Shen Yuqing felt slightly better. He asked, “Where are you going?”
Wu Yi answered, “The weather’s nice today, so Young Master Pei wanted to take a walk. We’re also dropping Lucky off for a bath.”
“A bath?” Shen Yuqing frowned. “Didn’t he just have one?”
He seemed to have been holding Haoyunlai all last night. It smelled so nice, a particularly unique fragrance. Shen Yuqing couldn’t think of any adjectives or anything with a similar scent to describe it, but his intuition told him it was simply wonderful.
He liked it so, so much.
Wu Yi said, “No, there isn’t.”
But Xiao Zhao kept it clean and tidy every day, so there was never any noticeable odor.
Shen Yuqing gave an acknowledging “Oh,” then said, “Alright, let’s go wash it then.”
After washing it, he could still catch that lovely scent, which was somewhat intoxicating to him.
Cats really are the best!
Lost in his thoughts, he didn’t even notice Pei Yiyan giving him a deep, meaningful look.
