Chapter 127

Pei Yiyan finished blow-drying Shen Yuqing’s hair and turned off the hairdryer, setting it aside.

Shen Yuqing raised his uninjured hand to smooth his hair a couple of times, then shook his head now he felt comfortable.

Pei Yiyan watched this series of movements quietly, his lips pressing together slightly before curling up involuntarily.

Shen Yuqing really was like a little puppy.

Shen “Puppy” Yuqing stood up from the chair. “In that case, I’ll head out first. You go take your shower.”

Then he added, “Or do you want to eat first before showering?”

Pei Yiyan shook his head slightly. “I’ll shower first, then eat.”

Eating first would mean waiting a while, and he wanted to have the meal with Shen Yuqing but it seemed that wouldn’t be possible now.

Unexpectedly, the next moment, Shen Yuqing said, “Alright, then I’ll wait for you to come out so we can eat together.”

With that, he walked out of the room, casually pulling the door shut behind him though not completely. His voice drifted in from outside, “Let’s wait another half hour before making the midnight snack.”

Pei Yiyan’s heart felt strangely unsettled, though he didn’t realize his expression had softened considerably.

By the time he finished showering and stepped out, he saw Shen Yuqing sitting cross-legged on the sofa, playing with the cat.

Good Luck seemed to have picked up on the scent of blood on Shen Yuqing, as his attitude today was noticeably friendlier. While hopping around, he deliberately avoided Shen Yuqing’s injured hand.

Shen Yuqing laughed. “You’re so smart, sweetheart.”

Good Luck lifted his head and nuzzled against Shen Yuqing’s body, as if responding to the praise.

Pei Yiyan had been completely relaxed, but for some reason, hearing Shen Yuqing call Good Luck “sweetheart” and praise him made his chest tighten. He couldn’t help but wish Good Luck would get off Shen Yuqing so he could be the one clinging to him instead.

He raised a hand to press against his chest it felt heavy, and he was struggling to breathe.

Shen Yuqing heard labored breathing beside him and turned to see Pei Yiyan slightly hunched over, clutching his chest as he gasped for air.

Alarmed, he quickly set the cat aside and rushed over, placing a hand on Pei Yiyan’s shoulder. “Pei Yiyan, what’s wrong?”

Pei Yiyan shook his head. “It’s nothing, just suddenly had trouble breathing.”

Trouble breathing? That was serious. Shen Yuqing immediately helped Pei Yiyan sit down, then called Xiao Zhao out from the kitchen. “Go start the car. Pei Yiyan isn’t feeling well we need to take him to the hospital.”

Xiao Zhao nodded hastily, removing his apron to grab the keys, but Pei Yiyan said, “No need. I’m feeling better now.”

Shen Yuqing tore off a piece of tissue to wipe Pei Yiyan’s face. “You’re suddenly drenched in sweat how can you say it’s nothing?”

Pei Yiyan gripped Shen Yuqing’s wrist, his gaze fixed on him.

Shen Yuqing froze for a moment, meeting Pei Yiyan’s eyes.

How strange…

He had the feeling Pei Yiyan could actually see him.

Before he could dwell on it, the next second, Pei Yiyan collapsed straight into his arms.

His face buried into the crook of Shen Yuqing’s neck. Shen Yuqing pushed at him urgently. “Pei Yiyan? What’s wrong? Quick call Wu Yi back! Get an ambulance here now!”

Flustered, he quickly “pushed” Pei Yiyan out of his embrace and laid him on the sofa. Checking his breathing and pulse, Shen Yuqing found everything normal, yet he dared not move him recklessly.

He hurriedly summoned the system, which ran a scan and reported: 【He’s fainted. The cause is undetectable he needs to be sent to the hospital for tests.】

How could he collapse out of nowhere?

Shen Yuqing felt utterly overwhelmed. Both male leads’ health was deteriorating one hadn’t recovered, and now the other had an issue.

It seemed like he was either rushing them to the hospital or visiting them there.

The ambulance and Wu Yi arrived simultaneously. In the ensuing chaos, they carried Pei Yiyan onto a stretcher and sent him for a full examination.

By the time everything was settled, it was already late at night.

Pei Yiyan still hadn’t woken up, but the doctor assured them there was no immediate danger. However, some test results wouldn’t be available until the next morning.

Exhausted, Shen Yuqing dozed off on the sofa while Xiao Zhao and Wu Yi stepped out to consult the doctor.

Between exhaustion and the pain in his hand, he was completely worn out. Only after confirming Pei Yiyan was stable did he finally relax.

Before long, Xiao Zhao and Wu Yi returned.

Wu Yi said, “Young Master, you and Xiao Zhao should head back first. I’ll stay here to watch over Master Pei.”

Shen Yuqing stood up, walked to Pei Yiyan’s bedside, and nodded. “Call if anything happens.”

Wu Yi acknowledged the instruction.

After Shen Yuqing and Xiao Zhao left, Wu Yi closed the door behind them. When he turned back, Pei Yiyan’s eyes were open.

Wu Yi rushed over. “Young Master, are you alright?”

Pei Yiyan sat up. He had actually regained consciousness upon arriving at the hospital but had feigned unconsciousness the entire time.

“What did the doctor say?” he asked.

This was their usual hospital, staffed with their own people.

Wu Yi relayed the diagnosis. “Since you fainted, many details couldn’t be clarified earlier. The doctor will conduct a thorough examination tomorrow.”

Pei Yiyan gave a faint hum.

Then he added, “Inform Dr. Li that my vision has returned.”

Wu Yi was momentarily confused Pei Yiyan’s sight had long been restored. A few seconds later, realization struck. “Young Master, you mean you’re dropping the act?”

Pei Yiyan replied coolly, “This is the perfect opportunity.”

Before losing consciousness, he had swiftly devised a plan. He’d been searching for a plausible way to “recover” his sight, but the right moment never came.

The Pei family, wary of the Shen family and embroiled in corporate chaos, hadn’t had the chance to interfere.

He’d pondered this for a while who knew today would provide the perfect excuse?

Wu Yi nodded. “Understood, Young Master. I’ll handle it.”

Pei Yiyan asked, “When is Shen Yuqing coming tomorrow?”

Wu Yi replied, “He didn’t say. He has classes tomorrow.”

“Then investigate how he injured his arm,” Pei Yiyan said, lying back down. “And find out who he’s been close to recently.”

Now that his vision was “restored,” it was time to address lingering questions.

For instance who did that magnolia pheromone on Shen Yuqing belong to?

Wu Yi suddenly paled and took a step back.

Pei Yiyan snapped out of his thoughts and asked, “What’s wrong?”

As soon as he spoke, he caught the scent of pheromones.

Wu Yi said, “Young Master, it seems your pheromones are leaking.”

Wu Yi was also an alpha, so he found it difficult to endure Pei Yiyan’s pheromones.

At this moment, the pheromones emanating from this double S-rank alpha carried a hint of aggression, stirring the instinctive urge within him to counter with his own pheromonal assault.

This couldn’t go on.

Wu Yi said, “Young Master, I’ll step out. You should try to control it.”

With that, he swiftly left the ward, closing the door tightly behind him.

Pei Yiyan stood in disbelief, enveloped in his own pheromones the complex emotions they carried were unmistakably his.
