Experienced Rookie Idol 3

Chapter 3

How much had the former Duke of Bolton, William’s father, harassed innocent doctors and priests for Yoon Jin when he first became William Grace Bolton, knowing nothing and just suffering in pain? Compared to that time, Yoon Jin now had experience and information based on that experience.

He didn’t know when all his memories would return, and there was no benefit in pretending not to be in pain. Rather, since the doctor had already diagnosed him with amnesia, it would serve as a good excuse.

“Hyung, are you okay?”

Minhun carefully took Yoon Jin’s hand as he was lost in thought. Bending his knees to examine Yoon Jin’s complexion, his face was ashen. Worry, shock, distress, confusion. As if there was no reason to hide it, Minhun’s expression clearly represented his emotions. Of course, this was an emotion Yoon Jin could read because he had become so accustomed to reading social cues while living as William.

‘From now on, I’m a person with amnesia.’

He wasn’t sure how to proceed from here, but whatever he did, there was no benefit in appearing crazy. Yoon Jin looked at Minhun and deliberately smiled weakly.

“I’m a bit dizzy… but I’m okay.”

“Hyung…”

Minhun, looking pitiful as if Yoon Jin was the one to be pitied, bowed his head deeply. It seemed like an action stemming from the thought that he shouldn’t show his shakiness to Yoon Jin, who would probably be the most confused. Being perceptive enough to notice that, Yoon Jin patted Minhun’s shoulder with a feeling that he was still just a baby.

Sanggu, who had apparently finished talking with the doctor, also approached with a pitiful expression. Seeing such an expression on a face identical to the expressionless Guonnu, Yoon Jin covered his mouth with a fake cough to suppress the laugh that was about to escape.

Yoon Jin’s discharge from the hospital was quicker than expected. Since there wasn’t any physical problem, as soon as the IV was finished, he received one more examination, was prescribed simple headache medication, and returned to his original dormitory.

Minhun suggested that it would be better to stay hospitalized for a few more days, but for Yoon Jin, it wasn’t a helpful option, so he urged his discharge with the excuse of wanting to go to a familiar place. The manager, Sanggu, also seemed to want to keep Yoon Jin hospitalized longer, but after receiving a call from the agency, he processed Yoon Jin’s discharge according to his wishes.

With that, Sanggu disappeared saying he had to go back urgently, and Minhun was sent out with Yoon Jin’s excuse of being hungry and asking for porridge.

“Haah…”

Lying down on the bed where he had first regained consciousness, which was apparently his bed, Yoon Jin let out a big sigh. He was finally alone. Yoon Jin pinched his cheek.

“It’s real…”

Yoon Jin slowly touched his face and body, and finally touched his hair, acknowledging reality. Then, getting up again, Yoon Jin took advantage of being alone to organize the memories that had returned. Although it felt like many memories had vaguely returned after the severe headache, they were just like individual puzzle pieces. Without everything connecting, it wasn’t easy to properly remember anything.

Still, there was some information he had definitely obtained. The lock pattern for his phone. Yoon Jin grabbed his phone, which had been placed on the floor just as it had fallen when he collapsed, and entered the ‘ㄱ’ pattern. The phone unlocked as if it had been waiting, and Yoon Jin couldn’t have been more thrilled.

“Let’s see, what should I check first?”

He needed to gather more information before Minhun returned. Yoon Jin first checked the notifications. Missed calls, messages, chats, and more. Since it would take too long to check everything, he first looked at the apps installed.

There were many differences from Yoon Jin’s smartphone knowledge that had been cut off seven years ago, but finding the internet wasn’t that difficult. Faced with the green search box, Yoon Jin swallowed hard. It was the same tension as when he had attended his first ball after inheriting the title of Duke.

[Yoon Jin]

Yoon Jin typed in his own name and pressed the search button, then slowly began to check the posts. Jin, the leader of the 5-member male idol group ‘Sparkle.’ Real name Yoon Jin. Debuted with the song “Holic to You”—Yoon Jin skimmed through the basic profile and continued scrolling down the page.

While he was curious about what activities his group had been doing and what performances they had done, that wasn’t the most urgent. The information he needed right now was how the original ‘William’ had been living as ‘Yoon Jin.’ Soon, Yoon Jin’s scrolling stopped.

[What nickname fits Jin best? Jin Mommy? Mother Jin-resa?]

“What is this…?”

These were titles that Yoon Jin couldn’t understand at all. It seemed to be an anonymous site where people who liked the same idol gathered, but the nicknames that came up when searching for Yoon Jin’s name were concerning.

Yoon Jin clicked on the most recent post among them and read it seriously. His intense gaze, as if deciphering a code, was trying to understand the post by chewing over each word.

And finally, the legendary video of the sons’ love for their mom!

(Video)

At the end of the post was a short 10-second video. In the video, during what seemed to be a concert, as Yoon Jin, who was sweating like rain, reached for a water bottle, four men passed their own water bottles to him.

One of those four men was, of course, Minhun, who had just gone out to buy porridge, and the other three were kids who had spent their trainee days with Yoon Jin, though they had matured since his last memory.

Yoon Jin quietly read other posts one by one. The content was mostly similar. Yoon Jin taking care of other members, Yoon Jin smiling gently at the members’ pranks.

Leader number 1 that other idols would want to have.

Number 1 motherly leader.

Number 1 group that seems to get along the best among members.

After reading the last post, Yoon Jin closed his eyes, tired from being exposed to electronic devices after a long time. Come to think of it, while preparing for debut, Yoon Jin wasn’t particularly close with the other members. Colleagues who also became competitors, that was about the level of distance. Even the position of leader was given to him simply because he was the only adult, so it was natural in a way.

“Haha…”

It became clear that just as Yoon Jin had lived William’s life, William had lived as Yoon Jin. And it seemed that ‘William Grace Bolton’ was quite well-suited to being an idol. Over the past 7 years, ‘Yoon Jin’ had become a kind, considerate leader who loved the members tremendously.

Should he be grateful that at least he didn’t have a negative image? Yoon Jin tapped his throbbing head.

He knew that the original ‘William’ had a timid and quiet personality. In that world, it was described as weakness, but he wondered if it was seen as gentleness here. As Yoon Jin tried hard to convince himself of this, his eyes kept seeing words like Mother Jin-resa, Jin Mommy, Leader Mom, Son-obsessed.

[Fans call Jin-ssi by the nickname “son-obsessed,” did you know that?]

[Ah… yes, it’s a bit embarrassing… but I knew.]

[Do you also know what it means?]

In the video, ‘Yoon Jin’ was smiling genuinely, his ears reddening from embarrassment. And then came a reference video. It was a fairly old video with not very good quality, but it still clearly showed ‘Yoon Jin’ looking quite lovingly at the members.

In the video, he seemed to have briefly appeared during a break, unable to participate in the filming due to another schedule. Whatever variety show it was, the other members were wearing shirts with 1, 2, 3, 4 written on them.

[The leader is just like a mom~ It’s like sending sons on a picnic with packed lunches! First son, second son, third son, fourth son!]

[He really does pack lunches for us sometimes.]

The MC in the video made a fuss and laughed at Minhun’s answer. As if he couldn’t watch anymore, Yoon Jin turned off his phone. For a moment, his mind wavered, wondering if his life could be turned off as well. Yoon Jin finished assessing the situation and decided what to do first.

“I can’t live with this image forever.”

In his own assessment, Yoon Jin was someone quite far from gentleness. The evaluations he had received while living as William were also along the lines of cold, cruel, scary, and icy. There was some exaggeration due to the acting he had to do to survive, but the important point was that he was far from a motherly image.

If he couldn’t change the image, he would have to retire. Yoon Jin took the current situation seriously. Being an idol had certainly been his dream, but that was 7 years ago. During that time, his life with blurred goals had merely followed the flow of time.

“Even if I’m not an idol, I just need to earn enough to live on.”

If he survived on the battlefield, what couldn’t he do? A determination to first get rid of this motherly image arose. Just then, hearing the sound of the door lock from outside the room, Yoon Jin quietly got up from his seat.

“Minhun is back, huh?”

Yoon Jin went to the living room and froze stiffly when he saw the person who had entered the dormitory. He thought he wouldn’t be surprised by anything else today, but if there was a God, He clearly wanted to try killing Yoon Jin with a heart attack.

“Jin hyung!”

“Uh… uh…”

The man with short black hair and dressed in military uniform shouted, exhaling rough breaths as if he had rushed over. He hastily took off his military boots and hat, throwing them aside, and hugged Yoon Jin.

“We were supposed to eat together today! You weren’t answering your phone! Manager hyung said! You collapsed! The news articles too!”

There wasn’t a single part of what he was saying that Yoon Jin could understand. Why was a soldier suddenly visiting the dormitory and hugging him? The situation right in front of him was incomprehensible. Had he made a soldier friend in the meantime? An idol? An idol with a soldier friend? How? It was a series of confusions.

“Hyung, are you okay?!”

“Hyung, I’m back~”

Just then, Minhun appeared with a paper bag labeled “porridge.” He momentarily looked surprised when his eyes met Yoon Jin’s.

“Junyoung hyung! You’re on leave?”

“What? Junyoung?”

Kwon Junyoung. The soldier who suddenly appeared was one of the members who had debuted with Yoon Jin. Yoon Jin slowly examined the face of the man in front of him. The boy who had a fresh feel at the age of a high school senior had become a proper man with a face slightly tanned from the sun. No, more than just a man—he had even enlisted in the military.

“I’m going to go crazy.”

Yoon Jin murmured quietly. He had definitely returned to his own body, but it felt as if he had entered someone else’s body again.
