Bad Relationship – Chapter 61

“Oh, you’re here? Over here.”

At a restaurant’s outdoor table, Jaehyuk spotted his friend waving and walked over. Seeing the table overflowing with almost every item on the menu, he frowned.

“How much do you guys eat? Starting from breakfast?”

“We went surfing at dawn. We’re going to eat, rest a bit, and then head out again. Want to join us?” Junghyun suggested, continuing his meal.

Jaehyuk sat down in an empty seat and replied with a look that said, “Be reasonable.”

“I’m not going.”

“Why not? And where’s Jeonghyun? Didn’t he come with you?”

“He’s not feeling well, so he won’t be going out today.”

“Does he have a cold?”

“He has a slight fever.”

Jeongmin nodded, understanding. “It was a bit chilly yesterday and the day before. But if he’s not going, why did you come out?”

Jaehyuk had threatened his friends via message, saying he wouldn’t let them off easy if they didn’t show up. Junyoung’s practical question made Jaehyuk order a coffee and then ask Jeonghoo,

“Does he have any favorite food when he’s sick?”

Jeonghoo looked confused by the sudden question.

“What do you mean?”

“Jeonghyun. Every family has a go-to food for when someone’s sick, right? Like porridge or something.”

Jeonghoo looked uncomfortable and avoided the question.

“Uh… I’m not sure… We haven’t lived together for a long time, and we weren’t that close.”

“So, you don’t know what kind of porridge he likes?”

“Not really… He rarely gets sick.”

“What about his favorite fruits or foods?”

Jeonghoo struggled to answer the barrage of questions, trying to keep a smile on his face.

“Uh… I’m not sure…”

They had only lived together for 2 years, and that was 15 years ago. Jeonghoo had no idea what Jeonghyun liked to eat or wear. Jaehyuk understood the situation and didn’t press further.

“What about his favorite clothing brands or sizes?”

Jeonghoo looked away and picked up his coffee cup.

“You should ask him directly… Why the sudden interest?”

“He didn’t bring enough clothes.”

Jaehyuk took a sip of his coffee and pondered. Jeonghyun had brought very few clothes, not just for the trip but also when he moved. Jaehyuk initially thought it was just Jeonghyun’s minimalist style, but now he had doubts.

“Do you know his sizes?”

“I have no idea.”

“Aren’t they similar to yours?”

“When we were younger, maybe. But he’s bigger than me now. He’s quite muscular for an omega.”

Jaehyuk looked surprised.

“Muscular? He’s smaller than me.”

Jeongmin and the others at the table looked at Jaehyuk like he was saying something obvious.

“Of course, he’s smaller than you. Everyone is.”

Jaehyuk thought about it. Jeonghyun was indeed taller and more muscular than most omegas, but compared to Jaehyuk, he seemed small.

“Now that you mention it, you’re right…”

Jeongmin scolded Jaehyuk for his cluelessness.

“Are you doing a comedy routine? If you don’t know, just ask him directly or check with his personal shopper.”

“He doesn’t use a personal shopper.”

“So, he shops for himself?”

“Seems like it. His style is similar to Yeonwoo’s…”

Jaehyuk thought Jeonghyun’s clothing style and physique were similar to Yeonwoo’s, but he couldn’t just call Yeonwoo to ask about sizes. Jeonghoo didn’t know either.

“I don’t think so. Their physiques are different. Jeonghyun is probably two sizes larger than Yeonwoo.”

“He wears oversized clothes, so they might be similar.”

Jaehyuk remembered that Jeonghyun usually wore loose-fitting clothes, even for shirts and knits. He decided to just buy larger sizes for now.

Jeonghoo suddenly remembered something.

“Oh, his mother might know. She bought him a suit because he didn’t have one.”

“Can you ask her now?”

“She should be awake at this hour.”

“Please do.”

While Jeonghoo sent a message, Junyoung looked at Jaehyuk curiously.

“You’re surprisingly considerate. I thought you’d be indifferent even after getting married.”

“It’s only natural to do your best for your partner.”

“In theory, maybe…”

Jeongmin’s skeptical remark was interrupted by a urgent-sounding ringtone. Jeonghoo quickly answered the phone, and a frantic voice came through.

– Did he tear his clothes fighting again?

The loud voice was audible to everyone at the table. Jeonghoo tried to calm the person down.

“No, it’s not that. Jaehyuk wanted to know.”

– Did he fight with Jaehyuk?

Jeonghoo reassured the person again, and Jaehyuk took the phone.

“This is Cha Jaehyuk.”

– Oh… yes… okay.

The voice on the other end calmed down immediately. Jaehyuk continued the conversation politely.

“I apologize for not greeting you properly after the wedding.”

– We don’t need to be that formal.

Jaehyuk noted the similarity between Jeonghyun and his mother.

– So, why do you need to know about Jeonghyun’s clothes?

“We’re on our honeymoon, and he didn’t bring enough clothes. He only packed light clothes and is feeling cold, so I need to buy him some warmer clothes.”

– Oh… he’s always cold but never dresses properly. His waist is about 28 or 29 inches, and his chest is around 100 inches. He doesn’t like tight clothes, so get him larger sizes. He hates buttoning shirts and doesn’t like the texture of knits or the hassle of washing them. Just get him sweatshirts, hoodies, and track pants. He doesn’t like coats, so get him a light padded jacket or a thick shirt. Only neutral colors, he hates bright colors. Just get him athletic wear.

“Athletic wear?”

– Yes. He usually wears a few T-shirts, hoodies, and track pants all year round. He hates choosing and washing clothes.

Jaehyuk thought this was typical of Jeonghyun. He usually wore simple T-shirts and track pants to bed. However, Jaehyuk remembered that Jeonghyun often wore jeans, slacks, or cotton pants with knits or shirts in pastel colors when they went out.

“He usually wears jeans or slacks with knits or shirts in pastel colors when we go out.”

– Really? He must have changed. He used to hate anything that wasn’t comfortable.

Jaehyuk thanked Jeonghyun’s mother for the information and hung up. He decided to buy the clothes as suggested and headed to the store.

“Why should I marry you?” “I told you already, didn’t I? I need someone as insensitive as you.” “But why?” “You’ll find out slowly later. Anyway, we need to get married within a month, so prepare yourself.” “Are you dying in a month?” While Junghyun was talking nonsense about whether the other man didn’t want to become a bachelor ghost, he noticed Cha Jaehyuk glancing at his phone screen. After checking what appeared to be an incoming message, Cha Jaehyuk looked back at him and beckoned with his finger, as if telling him to look. “What?” When Junghyun looked at him with a face that said “speak if you have something to say,” Cha Jaehyuk narrowed his eyes and smiled brightly. With a gaze so hot it could melt someone, so enchantingly beautiful. Unlike moments before, he was now staring at Junghyun with such an intense, loving gaze that it sent chills down Junghyun’s spine. Feeling like something had gone terribly wrong, Junghyun tried to move away, but Cha Jaehyuk was faster. Suddenly closing the distance between them, he leaned toward Junghyun’s shoulder and whispered directly into his ear. “You should think carefully about what’s advantageous for you. Whether you want it or not, you’re destined to go through with this marriage.” The strong scent that enveloped him made Junghyun’s entire body shiver. He was definitely an S-ranker. Junghyun had sensed it somewhat since their first meeting in the elevator, but it became obvious when they got closer. Even though Cha Jaehyuk was likely suppressing it as much as possible, it was still difficult to handle. His skin hurt. It felt like a mild electric shock. The sensation was uncomfortable. “First, I’d appreciate it if you’d keep your distance.” “Why?” “I’m someone who needs a wide personal space. This distance is extremely uncomfortable for me.” “Your answer first?” “If it’s about marriage, then no.” “Didn’t I tell you that you don’t have a choice?” “No, I do have a choice. I can simply not show up at the wedding.” When Junghyun boasted that he wouldn’t meekly walk into a wedding ceremony just because his family forced him to marry—that he could even give the middle finger to the officiant and run away—Cha Jaehyuk smiled languidly. Chillingly. “You’ve got spirit too. I’m liking you more and more.”
