Fiancé?
Xia Ze turned completely red at those words.
Qi Jing’s lips curled slightly, satisfied with his own mischievous thought. He then turned his gaze to the young Alpha who had been eyeing someone else’s fiancĂ© and asked, “What happened?”
Gao Zhou stared blankly at Xia Ze, who was being held in the man’s arms, his eyes instantly tinged with bitterness. However, he had already recognized the man before him.
Though he was a decent Alpha himself, under the overwhelming pressure of this top-tier Alpha, he stood no chance. The sheer aura earlier had been enough to make him bow his head in submission. Gao Zhou had no doubt that if General Qi willed it, he could die on the spot.
This formidable man had always been his idol.
But, Qi Jing. General Qi.
How could they possibly be connected?
Despite his turbulent emotions, Gao Zhou recounted the incident truthfully, his mind in turmoil.
The legendary General Qi, the Empire’s strongest war god, the very reason countless people enlisted even police academy students like him idolized the man.
But why was he here? And why was he involved with a small flower shop owner?
And it seemed their connection wasn’t just casual.
The shop owner was a Beta did General Qi know that?
Gao Zhou’s lips trembled slightly, unsure why he was so shocked, why he felt so upset.
Watching the young policeman leave in despair, Qi Jing’s irritation lessened somewhat. He looked down at the bright-eyed boy in his arms, and the restlessness in his heart finally settled.
Meanwhile, Qi Jing’s subordinates were practically buzzing with amazement.
Damn, if they weren’t terrified of the general, they would’ve recorded the scene and immortalized it in a video for future generations!
A high-ranking Empire general, using his aura to intimidate a young man unbelievable!
But then again, what could they expect? That kid had been eyeing his person.
The possessive instincts of an Alpha they all understood that.
Tsk, tsk, tsk. Who would’ve thought the famously cold General Qi had this side to him? Rare sight indeed.
Exchanging glances, the subordinates quickly followed.
This kind of spectacle was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
They hadn’t even gotten a proper look at the general’s fiancĂ© yet they had to see him clearly to brag to the others later!
Xia Ze was still dazed. Just yesterday, their marriage application had been successfully submitted, and now, out of nowhere, Qi Jing had appeared before him and at such a moment. It felt like a dream.
After all, his communicator had been silent all day yesterday. He had started to think he’d imagined everything.
“You didn’t reply to my message.”
“You didn’t tell me about this either.”
Qi Jing’s voice was as cool as ever. Xia Ze instinctively tried to pull back, but with Qi Jing’s arms around him, the movement only made it seem like he was nuzzling closer, appearing even more intimate.
Qi Jing paused, his expression visibly softening.
Xia Ze thought for a moment and answered both questions at once: “I forgot. Last night was too chaotic.”
As he spoke, he checked his communicator there were messages from Qi Jing, as well as a greeting from Gao Zhou just now.
The name “Gao Zhou” flashed before Qi Jing’s eyes, and his brows furrowed again.
To make matters worse, the boy in his arms added, “Besides, I could handle it. It’s already resolved those two were arrested by Gao Zhou.”
The only tricky part had been explaining how a Beta like him had knocked out two Alphas.
But since it clearly wasn’t his fault, and with Gao Zhou’s help, the patrol team hadn’t given him any trouble. In fact, they’d even asked Gao Zhou to escort him back.
Xia Ze didn’t notice Qi Jing’s increasingly cold expression as he earnestly explained the matter.
The subordinates who had entered were too terrified to even enjoy the drama.
This little one was truly a handful!
Please stop mentioning Gao Zhou at every turn!
If this continues, our General Qi’s rut might come early!
Fortunately, Xia Ze’s attention was completely diverted when he saw the small greenhouse.
Oh no, oh no, many of the plants had been damaged by those two intruders. When they collapsed from oxygen deprivation, they had crushed several flowers.
Xia Ze hurried forward a few steps, then instinctively glanced at General Qi’s subordinates.
His carefully hidden greenhouse had been exposed after all!
Qi Jing understood his concern and said, “They won’t say anything.”
General Qi’s men should be reliable, right?
Xia Ze immediately felt reassured. After all, they were the general’s subordinates they probably wouldn’t care much about his little greenhouse.
Thinking this, Xia Ze reopened the greenhouse. The temperature and air inside had already been readjusted, and the sunlight was now simulating the dawn of ancient Earth. The flowers were already showing signs of blooming.
The general’s subordinates who had followed them were stunned.
This, this many plants?!
They had only ever seen such greenery in the imperial palace!
No, even the palace’s plants weren’t this vibrant. Though there were many there, none were as fresh and lively as these.
Not to mention the flowers some of them were varieties they had never even seen before.
The deputy shamelessly followed them into the greenhouse and was instantly enveloped by the clean, refreshing air. The faint, soothing effect eased his Alpha agitation disorder, a common condition among soldiers who had spent too long on the battlefield.
Who would have thought he’d find some relief on a garbage planet?
Seeing this, the other three subordinates quickly stepped inside as well.
This was unbelievably comfortable.
How long had it been since they’d experienced such a pristine environment?
Noticing how they were all enjoying the benefits of the plants, Xia Ze didn’t disturb them. Instead, he asked curiously, “Do the plants I grow really help?”
He knew greenery could soothe many Alpha agitation disorders, but he had never witnessed it firsthand.
Qi Jing, with his extraordinarily high mental strength, had long noticed the uniqueness of this place. The plants the boy cultivated were getting better and better. He nodded. “The plants you grow are the best I’ve ever seen.”
Xia Ze felt a small thrill of excitement before growing embarrassed. General Qi had seen so much, he must just be saying that to humor him.
But he didn’t mind being humored!
Hearing it made him happy!
A smile unconsciously spread across Xia Ze’s face, and Qi Jing’s gaze lingered on him.
After his brief excitement, Xia Ze yawned involuntarily. He had always kept a strict sleep schedule, washing up and going to bed right after his daily livestream. But after last night’s events, he had spent the entire time at the police station.
Now that he was relaxed, exhaustion hit him hard.
Seeing his drowsy, unfocused eyes and how he was practically curling into the blanket, Qi Jing said softly, “Rest first. I’ll handle the rest.”
Before the boy could protest, he added, “Don’t worry.”
Xia Ze really was exhausted, swaying slightly on his feet as if about to lean against General Qi. But at the last moment, he instinctively pulled away. Qi Jing found it amusing and simply scooped him up in a bridal carry, asking, “Your room hasn’t changed, right?”
Xia Ze weakly struggled but was too tired to resist, murmuring a soft “Mm.” He was clearly on the verge of passing out.
Under the teasing gazes of his subordinates, Qi Jing effortlessly carried the drowsy boy to his room. The furnishings inside were still simple, with a desk cluttered with tools for cultivating plants.
Most of these tools were crafted by the child himself, appearing incredibly intricate.
When Qi Jing placed the child on the bed and touched his shirt, he paused briefly before simply pulling the blanket over him.
Xia Ze, now in a familiar environment, instinctively curled up again. But this time, he must have been too exhausted after just one turn, his breathing steadied, clearly fast asleep.
Seeing their general emerge so quickly from the general’s wife’s bedroom, the four subordinates gasped in shock.
That was way too fast!
Qi Jing cast them a cool glance, all traces of his earlier gentleness gone. His voice was icy as he ordered, “Post guards here. No one enters or leaves without permission.”
“To the patrol station.”
The four subordinates immediately straightened, their earlier relaxed expressions vanishing. Anyone who saw them now would recognize them as unsheathed blades.
The patrol station still held those two thugs!
How dare they try to steal from the general’s wife, even attempt to imprison him!
Had they lost their minds?!
Even though that young officer at the station had claimed responsibility for handling the matter, the general himself had arrived!
When it came to his own Omega, the general would never leave it to someone else!
The two thugs, already beaten senseless by Gao Zhou, stared in disbelief at the Alpha before them.
Even among Alphas, Gao Zhou had been leagues above them.
But compared to this man? Gao Zhou was nothing, let alone them.
The legendary empire’s general was glaring at them with a gaze as cold as death itself.
What, what had they done?!
They hadn’t betrayed the nation, had they?!
