Chapter 18

With all this commotion, the morning classes naturally ended abruptly.

The principal repeatedly apologized, promising to hire better costume instructors and ensure such incidents would never happen again.

Not only that, the three students who made sarcastic remarks in class were expelled.

Regardless of how their school compared to institutions on other planets, it was considered top-tier on this garbage planet. Being expelled meant complete loss of face in their social circles, and they likely wouldn’t show up again.

After handling these matters, it was lunchtime again. But this time, Qi Jing didn’t take Xia Ze to their usual hotel. “Uncle Qi has arrived,” he said. “He’s preparing lunch today.”

Xia Ze had heard General Qi mention Uncle Qi before, a Beta who served as the Qi family’s longtime butler. While his son and daughter-in-law had helped with wedding preparations, Uncle Qi himself had been brought to Planet F31 by General Qi. As Qi Jing put it, this was for “early introductions.”

“He’s very excited to meet you.”

Having watched Qi Jing grow up, Uncle Qi had long been concerned about his marriage prospects. Upon hearing he was meeting the future general’s spouse, he immediately dressed formally and rushed over.

He even brought two spaceships worth of supplies, determined to take good care of the general’s partner.

When they arrived home, Xia Ze noticed something odd. “There’s no one here,” he said.

Qi Jing smiled. “I bought the neighboring houses on both sides. Uncle Qi lives next door and won’t disturb us normally.”

This arrangement also addressed security concerns.

The previous troublemaking neighbor had been too close to Xia Ze’s home, which led to the discovery of the unique plants. By purchasing the adjacent properties, they eliminated that risk.

Sure enough, as soon as they entered, Uncle Qi dressed in a suit with meticulously combed hair hurried over.

Uncle Qi appeared to be in his forties, taller than most servants, his eyes filled with kindness. When he looked at Xia Ze, there was no trace of the disdain some might show toward an average-looking Omega only deep respect.

Whatever the young master loved, he loved too!

It was rare for the young master to want to marry someone. Even if it were a Beta instead of an ordinary-looking Omega, Uncle Qi would have been delighted.

Hearing the word “Beta,” Xia Ze instinctively glanced at Qi Jing.

Misinterpreting this as nervousness, Qi Jing wrapped an arm around Xia Ze’s waist to comfort him.

Watching their interaction, Uncle Qi couldn’t have been happier though he hadn’t expected to be fed so much affection right after meeting them.

As Uncle Qi went to bring over the prepared dishes, leaving Qi Jing and Xia Ze alone, Xia Ze subtly tried to wriggle free. “Uncle Qi’s gone,” he whispered.

You can let go now.

Catching the hint, Qi Jing reluctantly released him, murmuring, “He’s like family to me. We need to appear close in front of him so he doesn’t suspect anything.”

Xia Ze nodded earnestly. Since he’d agreed to help General Qi, he would play his part perfectly!

But the spread of dishes soon made him forget their conversation. “Did you make all this, Uncle Qi?” he asked admiringly. “This is incredible.”

Uncle Qi chuckled. “As long as the young master enjoys it.”

“I heard you two have been eating at hotels. That won’t do, the young master is too thin. He needs to eat more.”

“From now on, I’ll handle all three meals for both of you.”

Back on the home planet, professional chefs would have been assigned, but here, he would personally cook.

Xia Ze nodded vigorously. Yes, he definitely needed to eat more!

Not only did the food taste amazing, but the ingredients had been specially brought from the home planet by Uncle Qi nothing short of exceptional.

After the meal was set, Uncle Qi led the soldiers to eat next door, determined to leave the space for just the two of them.

Xia Ze looked around and ran to the greenhouse, deliberately picking out a tall, lush green plant. He couldn’t accept the meal without giving something in return this would be his gift of gratitude to Uncle Qi!

Uncle Qi stared at the waist-high plant, then glanced at the young master.

This gift was far too extravagant. He was, after all, merely a servant of the Qi family, and preparing meals was simply part of his duties.

Qi Jing said, “Uncle Qi, just accept it. It’s good for sleep and health.”

Only after seeing the young master nod did Uncle Qi finally take the gift, his heart swelling with emotion.

Truly, their young master’s choice was never wrong. And who said this boy was plain-looking? He was utterly adorable, especially those eyes, Uncle Qi had never seen such beautiful eyes in all his life.

From now on, he would take meticulous care of the young master’s daily needs, ensuring not a single mistake was made.

With Qi Jing’s return, life seemed to return to normal except now, the quality of living had risen yet again. Afternoon tea, dinner, even the carpets in the house were all perfectly arranged.

But what truly shocked Xia Ze were the clothes prepared for him the next day.

Uncle Qi brought over dozens of the latest Omega fashion pieces from the capital star, lining them up for Xia Ze to choose from.

“I heard about what happened at school yesterday. How dare they speak of you like that!”

“How could you possibly have no clothes to wear?!”

Every outfit was a limited-edition piece from the current season. If not for the rush, Uncle Qi would have even summoned a high-end tailoring studio to craft custom pieces for the young master.

But no matter once they returned to the capital star, haute couture designers would be lining up for Xia Ze’s appointments.

Xia Ze murmured, “It’s fine, really. I don’t mind.”

And he truly didn’t. Let them talk it wasn’t like he had lost anything.

Qi Jing, however, seemed intrigued. He picked out a few outfits himself. “Try these?”

Was this also part of showing affection?

Xia Ze gave him a puzzled look but, under the combined gaze of General Qi and Uncle Qi, had no choice but to change into several outfits. In the end, he picked the simplest one and quickly dragged General Qi onto the aircraft.

No more trying on clothes, absolutely no more!

Never before had Xia Ze felt so eager to go to Omega school!

The outfit Xia Ze wore today consisted of a white T-shirt with subtle light-green patterns. The sleeves were adorned with a delicate silk flower, neither too big nor too small, swaying gently with his movements as if it were real.

His pants were cropped, featuring the same light-green patterns, tailored to perfection.

The shoes were a limited-edition pair from a high-end luxury brand the only one of its kind in the entire galaxy. By all rights, they should have been collector’s items, but in the Qi household, they were just ordinary footwear.

When Xia Ze stepped into the classroom, the room instinctively fell silent.

Everyone knew exactly what had happened the day before. Of the original ten students, three desks had been removed, and the fashion instructor had been replaced outright.

But that wasn’t the main point. The real shock was General Qi’s declaration.

Xia Ze wasn’t some insignificant fling, he was the fiancé! The one who was going to marry General Qi!

The very name that had sent the capital star into chaos!

And they had dared to ostracize him?

Did they have a death wish?

Yet Xia Ze acted no differently than usual, greeting everyone with a smile before taking his seat at the school-provided desk.

Except his outfit today was stunning.

Whether it was clothes or shoes, they seemed like items they’d only seen in magazines the kind you couldn’t buy even if you had the money.

Just yesterday, they were laughing at him for not being able to afford decent clothes. But was it really that he couldn’t afford them? He just couldn’t be bothered to wear them!

Feng Qi, an Omega who loved studying fashion magazines, blurted out without thinking, “Isn’t this the latest work by the fashion master Ella? How is it on you?”

That signature green silk flower was practically a trademark.

Even the sudden surge in lace clothing was just a poor imitation of the original floral design, which originated from Ella’s work.

In other words, all the recent trends were just clumsy knockoffs of this outfit.

But the moment Feng Qi spoke, he realized he’d asked the wrong question.

This was General Qi’s fiancé, what couldn’t he get if he wanted it?

Xia Ze scratched his head. “Not sure. Uncle Qi sent it over.”

Uncle Qi?

That had to be someone from the Qi family at the very least, a servant of the household.

If he were just a fling, there was no way the Qi family would send someone to take care of him. This only further confirmed that this seemingly ordinary Omega really was General Qi’s fiancé!

Though the Omegas present already knew, the realization still hit them hard.

If the rest of the interstellar citizens found out that the Empire’s general was engaged to someone so… ordinary, what would happen?

Most of the public would definitely disapprove.

This ordinary Omega would undoubtedly face a storm of online attacks.

There was even precedent for this.

Back when General Qi was away at war, an Omega from a noble family had tried to get close to him under the guise of visiting the troops to offer comfort.

But that Omega was mocked relentlessly online for overstepping, with critics tearing him apart—claiming he wasn’t good-looking enough, not gentle enough, and that his family background, while decent, wasn’t nearly impressive enough.

He never even got to meet General Qi before being driven away by the general’s fans. Rumor had it he didn’t dare show his face in public for a long time, fearing backlash every time he stepped out.

And Xia Ze? He was even less impressive than that ridiculed Omega.

What kind of attacks would he face?

Strangely, Feng Qi’s first thought wasn’t jealousy, he almost felt sorry for Xia Ze.

If Xia Ze were just General Qi’s lover, they might envy him. But as his fiancé? That was on a whole other level.

Qiao Qinqin beside him seemed to share the same sentiment.

They just wanted to get closer to General Qi not become targets of endless scrutiny.

Xia Ze had no idea why their expressions had shifted so strangely, but as long as there was no hostility, it was fine by him.

They were all classmates wouldn’t it be great if they could just focus on studying?

And so, the recent Omega gatherings carried on in an oddly subdued atmosphere.

The teachers and the principal breathed a sigh of relief.

Who cared about the mood? As long as nothing went wrong, it was fine!

Another incident like last time, and they’d really be at their limit!

However, the school did notice something peculiar.

All the students had quietly applied for the standard school-provided desks and chairs, abandoning their custom-made ones.

The principal glanced silently at the general’s fiancé’s plain desk and immediately understood.

Bandwagon effect, he got it!

While school life gradually returned to normal, the livestream channel was buzzing more than ever.

After offering a 20% discount on the green plants last time, they’d gained a wave of new customers. Now, those customers were realizing just how impressive this little shop owner from a remote planet really was.

The greenery he cultivated was exceptionally beautiful, staying fresh far longer than even many A-grade certified plants from planetary testing institutions.

Countless people eagerly waited in the livestream to make purchases.

This kind of treasure of a shop was simply too delightful.

Unfortunately, they probably wouldn’t see any new plants restocked anytime soon.

Because the shop suddenly landed a big deal.

Xia Ze looked at General Qi standing before him, then at the contract in front of him. “Sign a contract with me? To buy all the plants?”

Qi Jing sighed helplessly and pointed at the four subordinates who had just returned from the main planet their eyes brimming with longing.

Greenery!

The greenery grown by the general’s wife!

Who wouldn’t love it?!

After trying the plants gifted by the general’s wife last time, they had finally enjoyed a good night’s sleep something they hadn’t experienced in ages. Even without sleep, the stability of their pheromones and mental energy far surpassed previous levels.

Given their sharp instincts, they naturally noticed the plants’ uniqueness.

And it wasn’t just them, their colleagues had caught on too.

With a unanimous decision, they went straight for a bulk purchase contract!

They were going to buy out every last plant the general’s wife grew!

Every single one!

Not a single sprout left behind!

After all, he owes the General a big favor. He just needs to wait until the General returns from the battlefield. Then, he can get a divorce and finally live freely. As the planned divorce date approaches, Xia Ze decides to hide the truth. Returning to his flower shop and raising the baby on the quiet planet might not be so bad. Just as he finally relaxes in his courtyard, the General comes back from the battlefield. Looking grim, he leaves his victory banquet in front of everyone and heads straight to Xia Ze’s front door. On the StarNet livestream, billions of interstellar citizens watch the normally stoic General hesitating outside his spouse’s home. Comments flood in: "Why is he so anxious? Just knock already." "Wait a minute, this kind of alpha actually has a wife?" "You were so brave when fighting the Zerg, and now you can't even knock on a door?" "This is driving me crazy, knock now!" "Hold on, this courtyard looks familiar. Isn’t this the flower shop owner’s place?" As the viewers grind their teeth in frustration, they finally realize something. Who wouldn’t want a beautiful partner who can grow plants that soothe mental energy? Why did it have to be you who ended up with him? Qi Jing raises his eyes and says coldly, "If anyone’s unhappy about it, they’re welcome to challenge me to a duel." Silence falls across the stream. No one dares fight the Empire’s General. Fine, whatever. We might as well wish them a long and happy life together.   One-Sentence Summary: He even made me pretend to be pregnant. Core Message: Face life with a smile. No matter what challenges you encounter, never be afraid.
