After testing in the mental refinement chamber, simulation pods, and Mech Star, Yun Xingze discovered that while he can’t achieve 100% control over the mechanical beast, he’s reached about 80%.
On the battlefield, Caleb circled Yun Xingze for a while before suddenly unleashing two crimson chain swords. In their retracted state, the blades looked like bloodstained knives.
Activating his boosters, he charged straight at Yun Xingze.
The audience collectively held their breath.
Yun Xingze’s two mechs swiftly split apart. When the “toy cat” started running, it moved with the commanding presence of a beast king, its speed rivaling that of a real starbeast.
Caleb remained laser-focused, heading directly for the main mech.
Just as Caleb was about to swing his chain swords, an unexpected force tangled around his legs.
That ugly cat was also wielding two chain swords; it had somehow flanked Caleb and launched a surprise attack.
The crowd buzzed with excitement, stunned by the mechanical beast’s advanced maneuvers.
“It’s standing! That cat is standing up!”
“That scout mech is so agile; it can use chain swords?!”
“Holy crap, it’s so fast! I barely saw it, and Caleb’s legs are already trapped?!”
“Though those chain swords are clearly mini versions—different lengths and pretty shoddy. He’ll break free soon, right?”
As the audience observed, while the mechanical beast was fast and nimble, its hardware couldn’t keep up.
The Comet mech may be small, but it packs immense strength. Caleb spun around, swiftly reaching to snap the flimsy chain swords.
But to his surprise, the ugly cat retracted the blades, leaving him grasping at air!
Furious at being toyed with, Caleb lifted his foot to kick the mechanical beast over.
At that moment, the crowd erupted in gasps.
“The main mech is attacking!”
“Caleb might be in trouble.”
“That’s an ambush!”
Before the Comet mech’s foot could connect, two slashes struck its back.
Although the pain feedback from the mech to his nerves was significantly dampened, Caleb still winced slightly. He turned around to find Yun Xingze piloting the main mech to ambush him.
Without hesitation, Caleb lashed out with his chainsword!
Just as the chainsword was about to entangle Yun Xingze’s mech, the latter dodged at an impossibly bizarre angle, activating anti-gravity thrusters to leap upward while simultaneously deflecting the chainsword with his beam saber.
The violent tremor in his arm made Caleb pause—he hadn’t expected this Omega to possess such strength.
Yet this only fueled his fighting spirit further. Retracting the chainsword, he lunged forward again, launching another assault on Yun Xingze.
He swore his next move would dismantle the opponents.
The audience erupted in gasps once more.
“The mechanical beast is sneaking up on Caleb’s back!”
“Wow, that cat can mimic its owner’s actions?”
“You’re wrong! Both mechs are being controlled by Yun Xingze!”
“No way, isn’t the scout mech fully automated?”
“I pilot a Twin-Star mech, there’s no ambush command like that!”
The next second, the Comet mech’s back was viciously clawed twice by the mechanical beast, followed by a small beam saber jabbing ruthlessly into its spinal column.
Caleb felt an overwhelming sense of humiliation and angrily turned toward the ugly cat.
But the moment he pivoted, a chill ran down his spine—sure enough, Yun Xingze seized the chance to ambush him again with the main mech.
Every time Caleb tried to deal with the mechanical beast, Yun Xingze would strike his back.
And when Caleb turned his attention to Yun Xingze, the mechanical beast would dart in to stab his spine.
After several cycles of this, Caleb’s already short temper snapped. He couldn’t help but activate the loudspeaker, roaring loud enough for the entire arena to hear: “Are you f*cking exploiting a glitch here?! When will this end?!”
The referee immediately picked up his own loudspeaker: “Yellow card warning—Caleb, maintain sportsmanship.”
The spectators burst into laughter. No one had expected the infamous Caleb to be toyed with so thoroughly by a first-year Omega.
Inside the cockpit, Caleb was sweating; a rare sight.
Five minutes into the match, not only had he failed to dismantle Yun Xingze’s mech, he hadn’t even managed to land a single hit.
As a veteran of multiple tournaments, Caleb took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.
It was clear now, Yun Xingze’s reflexes surpassed his expectations, and that ugly cat’s agility far exceeded that of any standard automated scout mech.
The only explanation was that Yun Xingze possessed extraordinary mental control, allowing him to pilot both the main mech and the mechanical beast simultaneously.
Caleb’s heart sank.
He hadn’t underestimated this match; he’d prepared diligently.
But Yun Xingze’s tactics had completely blindsided him!
Pressing the Comet mech’s back against the protective barrier to prevent further ambushes, Caleb circled the two mechs like a hunter calculating a decisive strike.
Tension thickened in the air once more.
“Yun Xingze actually pushed Caleb this far…” Ke Lei stared at the arena in disbelief. “Not only can he modify a Twin-Star mech, but he pilots it this well too?”
Luo Wenchuan studied the mechanical beast, his gaze contemplative.
That reconnaissance mech seemed to possess more than just harassment capabilities?
On the field, Kalibo had regained his composure. He sneered inwardly, thinking it was just a tailless disabled cat at best—he could dismantle both mechs together if needed.
He retracted his chainsword and raised his long-range caliber cannon, firing several shots at the “disabled cat” and Yun Xingze. Then, he pulled out a massive particle lightsaw and a more agile lightwhip, pushing his engine to maximum power as he charged toward his opponent.
The lightwhip and lightsaw left afterimages in the air, their blue trails resembling the tail of a comet.
After the mechanical beast dodged the cannon fire, the Comet mech swiftly closed in. With a flick of the lightwhip, it swept past the beast’s head, nearly striking it!
Yun Xingze quickly recalled the mechanical beast.
Kalibo watched as the ugly cat rolled on the ground like a ball, retreating to Yun Xingze’s side and evading the lightwhip’s pursuit.
But he didn’t stop there. Seizing the moment Yun Xingze recalled the mechanical beast, he launched a rapid attack from the side.
The lightwhip was much longer than the chainsword. Just as Yun Xingze thought he could dodge it, the whip coiled around his mech’s left arm!
The audience gasped.
“Holy shit, he got him?!”
“Is Yun Xingze done for?”
“He’s definitely going to lose now!”
Chi Yu stood up in fright, his fingers clenched into tight fists.
Su Zinan couldn’t help but smirk, muttering under his breath, “Kalibo’s really slipping taking this long to find an opening.”
When Yun Xingze’s mechanical left arm was caught, he immediately tried to break free, but Kalibo had the lightwhip coiled tightly.
Though the lightwhip wasn’t as destructive as the chainsword, it was more than enough to restrain the mech.
Then, Kalibo raised the highly lethal particle lightsaw, ready to dismantle Yun Xingze’s mech arm.
Yun Xingze lifted his lightsaber and slashed directly at Kalibo’s arm holding the saw.
Reacting swiftly, Kalibo retracted the lightsaw and replaced it with a chainsword, promptly entangling Yun Xingze’s other mech arm.
The Comet mech firmly bound both arms of the main mech, digging its feet into the ground as it attempted to tear them off with sheer brute force.
What a madman…
Sweat beaded on Yun Xingze’s forehead as he frowned and sent new commands to the reconnaissance mech.
The next moment, the mechanical beast leaped up, appearing between the two towering mechs.
It attacked the Comet mech with small arms, though the effect was minimal.
Kalibo pulled relentlessly on the twin whips, refusing to yield the ugly cat’s efforts were nothing more than an itch to him.
The audience grew worried for Yun Xingze.
“If this keeps up, that ugly mech is definitely going to lose. One’s B-rank, the other A+ in a contest of brute strength, the latter wins.”
“If Yun Xingze loses both arms, he’ll be down to just the cockpit soon.”
“Why hasn’t he surrendered yet? Even if he loses now, his performance score won’t be too bad.”
“Probably still trying to struggle. A first-year wouldn’t know how terrifying Kalibo is—he’ll be begging for mercy soon.”
Even Ke Lei stood up, voicing his concern to Luo Wenchuan, “I don’t think Yun Xingze can last another minute.”
“True,” Luo Wenchuan replied calmly. “But he’s definitely not that stupid.”
Kaleb sneered at the ugly cat still blocking his way and muttered to himself, “I’ll deal with Yun Xingze first, then this stupid cat.”
Before he could finish, the ugly cat suddenly turned and pounced onto Yun Xingze’s main mech, swiftly climbing up to the chest area.
Kaleb was momentarily stunned—what was it doing?
Then, the mechanical beast raised its rear end, even wiggling it a couple of times to find the right angle.
It looked like a cat sticking up its butt, but without a tail, the scene appeared rather comical.
Oliar exclaimed in shock, “What is Yun Xingze doing? Making that cat act cute?”
“Did he install a music box in the tail that can pop out a white flag or something?” Lu Ranxu also said in astonishment.
Just as everyone was puzzled by this, the mechanical beast suddenly froze in place.
“Boom—”
A loud noise startled the crowd. When they regained their composure, they realized the mechanical beast had fired a small smoke grenade from its tail straight at the head of Kalibo’s mech!
It was like a cat letting out a thunderous, colorful fart at a human.
Kalibo suddenly recalled Yun Xingze’s words before the match:
[If it does something bad to you, don’t get angry.]
At this moment, he finally understood what “something bad” referred to and why that ugly cat had no tail.
