Chapter 30

Tonight marked the first stop of Jiang Yu’s new national tour, drawing significant attention. The audience was mostly immersed in the concert atmosphere, while some fans shared photos and short videos online. The unreleased new song, performed as if Jiang Yu was floating on clouds, was already mesmerizing. And his fleeting smile was even more captivating.

In the videos shared by the audience, you could clearly see two handsome faces filling the stage screens, each taking half. They seemed locked in eye contact; their connection so intense it felt impossible to fit a third person between them. And indeed: after smiling, Jiang Yu didn’t look at anyone else he continued performing, lingering in his remaining smile. That moment left a lasting impression.

“How about it? Did that lull you to sleep?”
“Good save on that comeback.”

This private interaction public yet intimate revealed a side of Jiang Yu never before seen online, even by fans who dug deepest.

Jiang Yu is exceptionally talented and always confident in his real self. He doesn’t hide behind an image, and after four years, people grew used to his commanding presence. Many believed that his refusal to show personal sentiment was because he disliked scandal coverage. But clearly that wasn’t true. It was simply that he hadn’t found the right person until now.

The hashtag #JiangYuYuShiqingDivineInteraction# quickly trended.

“Jiang Yu and Yu Shiqing are this close? How many times have they trended together?”
“Is that Jiang Yu? No way, he’d never allow scandals. Is he serious now?”
“Wait they’re both alphas, right? And I ship it now!”
“Jiang Yu, who never smiles at concerts, just smiled at Yu Shiqing what a love story!”

From the first clip till the encore, discussions exploded. Even Yu Shiqing at the venue overheard whispers. Because his position was revealed, security escorted him backstage before exiting. On stage, Jiang Yu continued bidding farewell to fans.

Ren Bai walked alongside him, still amazed: “I always knew Jiang Yu was strong, but I didn’t know he was that good….”

Yu Shiqing listened, then noticed Tan Yanfei approaching. Since Jiang Yu discovered Tan’s accounting tampering, Tan had been given the concert preparations and had only recently returned to sit beside Jiang Yu. Tan was experienced and made the opening concert a smooth success. Hearing the loud cheers, he felt his contributions yet Jiang Yu rarely acknowledged him.

On the big screen, Yu Shiqing appeared again, and Tan’s expression darkened. He knew Jiang Yu would push him into trending again just like before. And he’d been right. The ongoing conversations were all about their interaction, as if the concert was engineered as a tribute to Yu.

Three months later, Tan decided to confront Jiang Yu. He’d endured enough. All the perks meant for his studio why did they end up with an outsider like Yu?

“Manager Tan?” Ren greeted, but Tan pretended not to hear, walked ahead, and entered Jiang Yu’s lounge. Ren looked at Yu, bewildered: “When did I offend him?”

People whispered:

“Tan must be angry with Yu Shiqing! Sitting so close, how could he not notice?”
“Maybe Yu and Jiang Yu aren’t that close after all!”
“But that interaction didn’t seem fake.”
“Still, the manager is the important one!”

Hearing this, Tan scoffed. It was just professional courtesy why was everyone treating him like a big deal? He overheard someone trying to gossip with assistant Meng Chen, but she just smiled silently. Yu Shiqing lives at Jiang Yu’s! Talk about a relationship.

“Mister Yu,” Meng offered him warm water. “Would you like to go home with Jiang Yu after he comes down?”

Yu replied, “Depends on his schedule.” Meng nodded: “I’ll ask him then.”

Yu had watched many concerts, Ren clarified but this was his first concert of Jiang Yu’s. Meng noted: “No wonder Jiang asked maybe he didn’t want Yu Shiqing feeling bored?”

Meng was smiling and talking, until Jiang Yu’s voice startled him. The star was coming down, wiping sweat and noticing Yu’s expression: “What are you two laughing about?”

Meng stammered: “Nothing! Manager Tan is waiting in the lounge he said there’s something to discuss.”

Jiang Yu shot down the topic, and turned to Yu: “Just enjoying the concert?”

Yu answered simply: “Very good.” Jiang Yu paused, gripping his towel, then smiled: “Since you appreciate it, I won’t charge you for the next two shows’ tickets.”

He asked Meng: “Is Manager Tan in my lounge?” Meng confirmed.

Jiang said to Yu: “Want to come with? Then we’ll go home.”

Yu nodded: “Sure.”

Outside the lounge, Tan rose as they entered.

“Jiang Yu, you—” he began, then saw Yu Shiqing. His expression hardened. Ren followed, then Meng closed the door.

“Speak,” Jiang Yu said shortly.

Tan said: “I want to talk privately,” emphasizing “privately.” Jiang Yu already guessed what he wanted; he wasn’t patient anymore.

“If you don’t speak now, don’t mention it later,” Jiang Yu said coldly. “I’m tired and going home.”

Tan sensed something was off. Jiang Yu had used to at least listen to him, but now dismissed him without a thought. Over three months, this attitude had gradually surfaced.

Angry and shocked, Tan glared at Yu: “Someone’s been stirring trouble while I was away. When this is over, Yu Shiqing will regret it!”

Jiang braced as Tan brought up the recent big movie’s budget strain and Jiang Yu selling his house to raise investment. Tan carefully asked: “Did you consider how risky that is? Whoever advised you must have motives…”

Jiang interrupted coldly: “Enough,” then grabbed his bag. “This ends here.”

Tan kept pushing: “You helped rewrite his script, he can debut with this film, uses your fame—what has he ever done for you?”

Ren tugged at Yu’s sleeve: Why is this happening?

Yu just shook his head; Ren had to swallow his questions and retreated toward the door. Meng, embarrassed, tried to calm things: “Manager Tan, maybe you misunderstand?”

“Misunderstand?” Tan snapped back: “Isn’t it obvious? Jiang Yu’s every trending moment features Yu Shiqing. After years of silence, it all rose again this year those are Jiang Yu splitting his fame! If not for profit, why is Yu getting so close?”

At that, Jiang opened the door. Tan stuttered until Jiang spoke quietly but firmly:

“Tan, you once helped me a lot, so I didn’t mean to push you away. But you insisted on betraying me.”

Tan felt a chill. Whispers drifted:

“Tan’s days are over!”
“He’s arrogant, right? Watch how he brags now!”
“If I were him, I’d latch onto Jiang Yu too. What’s Tan’s problem?”

Tan stood frozen as Jiang Yu held Yu Shiqing’s hand and left together no words.

Ren sighed in the car. Yu hadn’t told him anything about Tan’s reaction the scene was so surreal. All the way home, Ren worried the confrontation might have driven a wedge between Jiang Yu and Yu Shiqing.

But glancing several times, they still seemed as friendly as ever, chatting calmly no mention of it.

They arrived late; Ren had the driver drop him near his building. The atmosphere in the car was calm. Meng expected anger from Jiang Yu but saw none. He watched Jiang Yu and Yu joking easily, untouched by the event.

As they neared Yu’s apartment, Jiang asked softly: “What’s that smell?”

Meng and the driver looked puzzled: “We don’t smell anything.”

Jiang turned to Yu: “You smell something?”

Yu: “No.”

Jiang frowned slightly. “What’s wrong?”

Yu checked his watch, brow furrowed it wasn’t good. His last suppressant was wearing off. The next was with Ren Bai.

It spread online that the washed-up film emperor, Yu Shiqing, was seen entering and leaving the same hotel as the popular idol Jiang Yu. The media, eager for gossip, rushed to get an interview. As usual, Yu Shiqing refused: “Don’t disturb me while filming.” Jiang Yu, known for being strong-willed, said, “You guys should know your limits when making things up. How could two Alphas have a scandal?” Even the fans came out to clarify professionally: “They’re filming together. Please don’t misunderstand!” That night. Inside the hotel. For some reason, Yu Shiqing pinned the wrong Jiang Yu against the door and bit his gland. With a strange Alpha’s pheromones invading his body, Jiang Yu felt both pain and pleasure. His face turned dark with anger. “Hey, bastard, you bit the wrong person!” Yu Shiqing looked up and, oh— it really was the wrong person. So he simply apologized: “Sorry. Let’s pretend tonight never happened.” Jiang Yu: “…” Scumbag! If I don’t turn this around, I’ve lost!
