Being Ordinary is the Best 82

# Chapter 82

“That’s unfair.”

Hajin felt relieved when he saw that Han Seungho, despite nibbling on the back of his hand, wasn’t going any further.

“Hyung, let go. I told you I’ll do it later.”

Lee Doyoon pulled Han Seungho away as he persistently clung to Hajin. As expected from someone with physical enhancement abilities, he easily managed to separate Seungho.

He hadn’t stopped Seungho earlier because he knew the only way to eliminate the drug was through a kiss with Hajin. But now that Seungho said he wouldn’t do it immediately, Doyoon couldn’t stand seeing them stay attached even a little longer.

Pulled away like a radish from the ground, Han Seungho roughly shook off Lee Doyoon, seemingly embarrassed about being forcibly removed from Hajin’s presence.

“Let go, you bastard!”

“It would help if you didn’t act like a mad dog, hyung.”

“What?”

They started bickering, and it seemed like their small argument was about to escalate. Worried his room might get destroyed, Hajin quickly spoke up.

“I’m thirsty. Could someone bring me some water?”

“I’ll get it for you.”

Han Seungho darted out of the room mid-argument. Hajin was surprised to see Lee Doyoon calmly sit down beside him instead of running out too. Noticing Hajin’s curious gaze, Doyoon smirked.

“Wondering why I didn’t rush out with him?”

“Hmm, a little.”

Doyoon lifted his chin proudly at Hajin’s honest admission.

“Unlike Seungho hyung, I’m not a simple-minded brute.”

‘That’s hard to believe considering how well you two get along…’

Hajin couldn’t fully accept Doyoon’s statement based on what he’d observed. Anyone watching the two would think their mental ages and temperaments were remarkably similar, given how they argued over the smallest things.

As if reading Hajin’s mind, Doyoon caught on.

“No way, you don’t believe me? I only stopped Seungho hyung because he was being childish. I actually hate noisy situations, you know?”

“I see…”

It was a completely unconvincing explanation. Hajin responded out of habit, making Doyoon tap his chest in frustration. But he had only himself to blame for the consequences of his actions.

“Hyung, I brought water!”

Han Seungho’s return with water interrupted Doyoon’s attempt to prove how composed and serious he was.

“Why did this hyung bring water in a teapot?”

Doyoon remarked in disbelief. Hajin shared his sentiment. He had wondered why it took Han Seungho so long, assuming he was being careful not to spill, but that wasn’t it.

Seungho set down a large teapot and a cup. The teapot was bigger than Hajin’s face. No wonder it had taken so long to fill.

“I brought a lot so you can keep drinking without having to move.”

He looked at Hajin expectantly, seeking praise. But what he received instead was mockery.

“Wow, hyung, are you serious? The team leader went to get a healing Esper. He’ll be completely fine soon, so what was the point?”

There was no response from Han Seungho, but his body visibly stiffened. This reaction couldn’t go unnoticed by Hajin who was close by, or by the perceptive Lee Doyoon.

“Hahaha! Hyung, really? This is too much!”

“Shut up…!”

Genuinely embarrassed, Han Seungho reached out to grab Doyoon’s collar, but Doyoon dodged with lightning speed.

“Ahaha! Heheh, I can’t believe this. Are you really that stupid?”

Hajin found it funny too, but seeing Doyoon unable to stop laughing, he couldn’t even allow himself to smile. His amusement came from finding Seungho cute, not from wanting to mock him.

‘They’re going to really fight at this rate.’

Seeing Seungho’s trembling fists, Hajin called out to him specifically.

“Han Seungho-ssi.”

“Yes….”

He looked dejected, assuming Hajin would also see him as an idiot. While Han Seungho was simple-minded, he wasn’t stupid. But that simplicity led to such small mistakes when it came to Hajin.

“Could you help me drink some water?”

Despite his sullen mood, Seungho carefully poured water into the cup, gently lifted Hajin, and helped him drink. Hajin must have been very thirsty, as he finished one cup and asked for another. Only then did he sigh with relief.

“Thank you. I was so thirsty that one cup wouldn’t have been enough. It’s fortunate you brought so much. I actually find it annoying to go downstairs every time I want water.”

Even someone like Han Seungho could tell these words were meant to comfort him. It was obvious, but that made it even better.

“Hyuuung…”

If Hajin’s body had been well, Seungho would have hugged him tightly. Instead, he clenched his fists to suppress the urge to embrace him. Lee Doyoon, who had been laughing heartily, now pouted at the intimate atmosphere that had suddenly formed between the two.

“Hajin-ssi, I’ve brought the Esper… What’s going on here?”

Cha Jinwoo, who had just returned with a healing Esper, questioned the chaotic atmosphere. His tone suggested he was asking if they had caused trouble.

“You’re back. Is this person behind you the healing Esper?”

“Ah… yes. My name is Jung Seungyun.”

Jung Seungyun met Hajin for the first time after only having heard about him. His first impression was that Hajin was prettier than he expected. He privately admitted that with looks like that and S-rank status, it was no wonder Espers went crazy over him.

“I apologize for greeting you while lying down. I’m experiencing muscle pain throughout my body and can’t get up.”

“Esper Jung Seungyun, please proceed with the treatment.”

At this prompt, Seungyun approached Hajin’s bedside. Despite being a man’s room, it didn’t smell bad; instead, there was something almost like a pleasant fragrance. Careful not to noticeably sniff, he took Hajin’s hand.

“I’ll begin the treatment now.”

“Please do.”

He glanced at Hajin’s face. Up close, he was even prettier. Mesmerized by Hajin’s long eyelashes, their eyes suddenly met.

Like someone caught doing something wrong, he quickly looked away, causing Hajin to let out a small laugh.

Jung Seungyun, who had intended to use the treatment as an excuse to receive Guiding, felt his heart race at what seemed like a positive sign.

Though fortunately still in the early stages of being at risk for a rampage, he had previously received Guiding from Han Jiwoo.

Due to the nature of his ability, he was frequently called upon and was one of the few in the Association who had received Guiding from Han Jiwoo many times. Yet he was still in the early risk stages, which could only be described as lucky.

When Jung Seungyun used his ability, it felt as though a gentle breeze was blowing inside Hajin’s body, and the muscle pain that had been tormenting him completely disappeared.

“The treatment is complete. Would you like to try moving?”

Though Hajin couldn’t feel any pain, he carefully sat up just to be sure. There was no pain at all.

It was like normal—no, even the slight stiffness he usually felt had completely disappeared. Hajin opened his mouth slightly in amazement.

“This is truly remarkable. Even areas that have been bothering me for a while are completely healed.”

Not missing Hajin’s words, Jung Seungyun humbly replied.

“I’m glad you’re pleased.”

More than pleased, Hajin couldn’t stop marveling at how incredibly light his body felt. A deep sense of gratitude toward Jung Seungyun welled up from within him.

‘Is this why Espers are so desperate for Guides?’

He could somewhat understand their feelings now. Hajin expressed his gratitude properly.

“Thank you. You must have been surprised by the sudden request.”

“Not at all. This is my job, after all.”

Jung Seungyun was about to ask for Guiding in return but stopped himself. Not because he changed his mind, but because of Alpha Team watching intently from behind.

With them observing, it was better to retreat for now unless Hajin offered first.

‘I’ve made a good impression, so he’ll probably offer it to me later.’

Besides, Jung Seungyun, who could access the innermost parts of the Association thanks to his ability, knew that the Association would soon ask Hajin to provide Guiding for Espers.

The Association would likely move quickly. Even now, there were Espers suffering on the verge of going on a rampage.

When that time came, he would naturally receive Guiding, so it was better to back off for now. Even as an S-rank, Jung Seungyun’s non-combat abilities made it difficult to face the three members of Alpha Team.

“Then I’ll be taking my leave…”

“Ah, since you’re already here, why don’t you receive some Guiding before you go?”

“Really?”

“Hyung?!”

Jung Seungyun brightened involuntarily but closed his mouth at Han Seungho’s alarmed voice. Hajin tilted his head, confused about what the problem was.

“What’s wrong?”

“What do you mean what’s wrong! Wasn’t Guiding supposed to be just for us?!”

Though Lee Doyoon and Cha Jinwoo weren’t as dramatic as Han Seungho, they too were looking at Hajin, hoping he would withdraw his offer. But Hajin couldn’t do that.

“When I first came to the Association, that was the condition. But the situation is different now.”

“How is it different?!”

“Han Jiwoo-ssi must have given Guiding to many people. I hear everyone is in danger due to early signs of rampage.”

Sensing something odd in Hajin’s statement, Cha Jinwoo casually asked him:

“By the way, Hajin-ssi, how did you know about that?”
