How to Act in a Depraved Guideverse Novel 4-4

He’d worked on countless dramas and films and met his fair share of actors—but Park Se-yul stood out like no one else.

If this world didn’t revolve around Espers and Guides, maybe Park Se-yul would’ve ended up an actor too, just like him.

And then there was this…

So this is why you made me wear the uniform?

His eyes drifted to the uniform draped over his shoulders. More precisely—to the name tag stitched with his name.

It felt like someone had stamped it with a claim: This is mine.

Only then did Eun-jo begin to understand why Park Se-yul had insisted he wear the uniform instead of a shirt. A quiet smile tugged at his lips.

And you still say I mean nothing to you? You went and branded me like this?

“You’re about to start drooling.”

Se-yul brushed a hand across Eun-jo’s cheek, pulling him out of his thoughts. Then, following the director’s cue, he moved to the couch off to the side and took his seat.

“Alright, let’s pick it up from the top!”

“Eyes on the scene!”

Now wasn’t the time to space out. Snapped back by the crew’s voices, Eun-jo straightened his posture. Even if he was stuck playing the role of a Guide—something he’d never asked for—this was still his domain.

They filmed a few more cuts from their spots. Then Eun-jo slowly rose to his feet, Park Se-yul’s gaze tracking him the whole way.

Eun-jo walked over and perched lightly on Se-yul’s thigh. He grabbed his arm with a firm grip.

“What are you doing?”

“…I just want to wrap this up quickly.”

Seriously, I feel like I’m going to die, Eun-jo added under his breath.

“I saw earlier… this is how it was done, right…?”

He awkwardly wrapped his arms around Se-yul’s thigh, hesitating like a nervous twenty-year-old. His fingers twitched, fumbling before brushing along the inside of Se-yul’s thigh.

Se-yul’s face immediately darkened.

“Do you even know what that looks like?”

“How does it look…?”

He wasn’t really expecting an answer. Still wearing that innocent expression, Eun-jo let his body go limp.

He swayed backward—and strong arms wrapped around his waist.

They were close. Close enough to feel each other’s breath.

Through the glint of his silver-rimmed glasses, Eun-jo met Se-yul’s gaze—eyes pitch black and unreadable. He smiled with a lazy squint.

“Lovers?”

“……”

Park Se-yul couldn’t look away. Even though he knew Eun-jo was teasing him, he couldn’t tear his eyes off that mischievous smile.

Maybe it was because they’d already slept together.

There was a lazy warmth, a slow-burning heat that clung to Eun-jo. His slightly undone expression. The uniform with his name stitched on the chest. The body beneath it, still carrying Se-yul’s marks.

“…You’re going to drive me insane.”

The words slipped out before Se-yul could stop them. Even so, he only pulled Eun-jo in tighter.

The director, quick to sense the electric tension between them, started snapping photos like crazy. Flashes went off. The staff gasped when they saw the results.

“Perfect! Keep that energy going!”

Just like Eun-jo had hoped, the shoot wrapped up without a hitch.

The only thing not going smoothly… was Park Se-yul’s heart.

The moment the magazine hit shelves, it sold out like wildfire.

Sales were so overwhelming they had to activate an extra printing press—but even that couldn’t keep up.

Resellers started popping up on secondhand markets like Carrot Country and Veggie Market, offering to buy copies at marked-up prices. The evening news dubbed it the “Team A Syndrome” and wouldn’t shut up about it.

Every online community was buzzing.

But the one who was the most ecstatic…

Was none other than Jung Young-soo, the Guide Center Director.

Guides getting as much attention as Espers?! What a freaking miracle!

Every evening without fail, Jung Young-soo would storm into Eun-jo’s office, chatter nonstop for a solid stretch, then finally leave. He never managed to stay long though—Park Se-yul would inevitably show up soon after, eyes blazing, practically dragging him out.

But today… the silence was almost blissful. Leaning back in his chair, Eun-jo picked up a copy of the magazine.

“Whoever this model is… they’ve got real talent.”

He let out a quiet chuckle, flipping through the glossy pages.

Right there on the cover, two people were practically glued together. Eun-jo—perched on Park Se-yul’s thigh—wore a bold, provocative smile. Park Se-yul, in turn, was tilting his head like he might close the gap between their lips at any second. The photo oozed tension. Even in stillness, it crackled.

Eun-jo traced his finger lightly over Se-yul’s face. Damn. The guy was ridiculously good-looking.

“So why does it have to be so complicated…”

You had to reach for the stars to actually touch them.

He thought back to yet another failed attempt at penetration sex and crumpled the magazine in frustration.

“It’s not like he’s impotent.”

He still couldn’t forget the way Se-yul had throbbed—almost grotesquely—between his legs. Eun-jo shook his head.

“No, really. If that’s what being impotent looks like, there wouldn’t be many survivors.”

So what the hell was the problem?

Just as he was running a hand through his hair, already irritable—

BANG!

The office door slammed open with a deafening crash, as if it might fly off the hinges.

Startled, Eun-jo whipped his head toward the noise.

A massive figure stood in the doorway. It didn’t even look human—it was more like something else entirely. Because his eyes… were glowing.

“…Yeo Eun-jo.”

His boyfriend—Jung Tae-seok—stood there, radiating fury.

With a murderous glare, Tae-seok hurled something toward him. Magazines scattered across the floor. Every single one with Eun-jo’s face on the cover.

Oh. Right.

Eun-jo sucked in a sharp breath, his face going blank.

We’re supposed to be dating in secret.

And today… was the day Jung Tae-seok got out of the Punishment Room.

Tae-seok strode toward him, boots crunching over the magazines he’d just thrown. He came to a stop, seething, and stared down at the issue still sitting on Eun-jo’s desk. His insides boiled all over again.

“Yeo Eun-jo. What the hell is this?”

“…Hyung…”

Even now, Eun-jo’s voice came out soft, tentative. Tae-seok let out a long, heated sigh.

“Right. ‘Hyung,’ huh?”

He snapped his fingers and flicked the magazine.

THWACK.

It smacked against the desk—right over Park Se-yul’s face.

“What is this bullshit?” he growled. “Explain why the fuck you’re tangled up with this asshole like that.”

His jaw clenched so hard it sounded like his teeth might crack.

He’d looked forward to this day so much. Counting down every damn moment in that punishment cell, telling himself just a little longer. As soon as he got out, he’d rushed to the dorms, cleaned up, got ready—he was supposed to go straight to the Guiding Room to see Eun-jo.

But then he spotted it—one of the staff carrying the magazine. Of course he recognized the face on the cover. It was his lover. Without hesitation, he went on a full sweep of the center, snatching up every single copy he could find. The more the staff pleaded—saying they’d paid extra to get it—the more his blood boiled.

And now… this?!

“Are you deaf? Why aren’t you answering me?”

His voice echoed through the Guiding Room like a thunderclap. It felt like he’d been yanked back to the very first day they met.

Goddamn it.

Eun-jo cursed silently and hesitated, then slowly reached out.

“Don’t talk to me like that… it’s scary.”

He gently placed his pinky on Tae-seok’s hand. Tae-seok flinched.

“Who the hell talks to their boyfriend like that, huh?”

“Wait… am I still your boyfriend?”

Hearing Tae-seok’s voice soften—just a little—Eun-jo slowly extended his hand.

Before either of them realized, his palm was resting fully over Tae-seok’s hand.

“Yeah. I’m your boyfriend.”

Eun-jo let a flicker of energy trail across Tae-seok’s hand, teasingly tracing his fingers over the back of it. Tae-seok let out a low, frustrated groan.

“Am I not?”

“You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you? Trying to make me let it go.”

“…Maybe.”

“……”

“You will let it go, right?”

Eun-jo tilted his head and smiled softly.

With a face like that, how could anyone stay mad? Tae-seok had already given his life to Eun-jo the moment they Imprinted. With a sulky grunt, he flipped his palm upward. Eun-jo didn’t miss a beat—he laced their fingers together and tugged him closer.

“I didn’t pose for that on purpose. I made a deal with the Director—just so I could come see you.”

“…A deal?”

“Yeah.”

Eun-jo nodded and quietly explained everything that had happened.

It was a massive step forward. If this had been the old Tae-seok, there’d have been no talking. Tae-seok would’ve thrown Eun-jo onto the couch and vented all his frustration physically—and maybe tossed a box of tissues afterward, if that.

Eun-jo fiddled with Tae-seok’s fingers and glanced up at him.

Since it was their first time seeing each other as an official couple, it looked like Tae-seok had put in the effort. His hair was neatly styled, slicked back like he’d used some cream or gel. Instead of his uniform, he wore a navy knit sweater and slacks.

Now, instead of throwing tissues, he’d probably carry Eun-jo to the bathroom afterward. Or bring a warm towel and wipe him down himself.

When did my precious boy grow up so much?

Eun-jo let out a small laugh. Tae-seok turned toward him, head still tilted.

“What are you laughing at?”

“Nothing. You’ve just… changed a lot.”

It’s okay to touch you now, isn’t it? As Eun-jo murmured the words, Tae-seok’s face froze.

He was probably remembering the way he used to treat him—how rough he’d been. After a pause, Tae-seok asked quietly,

“Hyung… you brought that up on purpose, didn’t you?”

Busted.

Eun-jo let out a playful laugh and wrapped his arms around Tae-seok’s waist. The smaller body snuggled in close, and Tae-seok instinctively pulled him in tight.

“……”

His eyes slid back to the magazine lying nearby. And they stayed there, locked in place—like he wouldn’t be looking away anytime soon.
