My Confession Was Ruined Because of a Zombie 10

He was grateful Taewoong saw him as pretty but also wondered if being called pretty as a guy was a compliment. It was complicated either way but when he carefully said thanks, Taewoong’s face, ears, and neck slowly reddened.

“…Uh, huh? Uh uh!”

Taewoong stammered as if not knowing what to say unlike him, then slightly avoided his gaze. Watching him, Yeoul hurriedly bit his lips.

Did the heavens take pity on me for ruining the graduation ceremony and not being able to confess? To think I’d get to see Taewoong’s flustered and reddened face right in front of me! It feels like I’ve become a successful fan!

He couldn’t contain his joy. As he clenched his fists and shouted inwardly, he saw the cold wristwatch on Taewoong’s wrist. Yeoul came to his senses with a start.

“Um, excuse me… Taewoong, your hand… is it okay?”

“Oh, ah.”

At Yeoul’s question, Taewoong also came to his senses. But was the question a signal? His hands that had been fine until a moment ago started throbbing a little.

“Yeah. It’s fine, it’s fine.”

It hurt as if stepped on by spiked shoes but he couldn’t show it. Taewoong pretended to be okay and hid his hands behind his back. Watching him, Yeoul’s brows furrowed and his face turned serious.

“You might think it doesn’t hurt due to the tension. Let’s go to the nurse’s office before it gets worse.”

“Mm, I think it’s fine.”

They couldn’t waste any more time. As Taewoong tried to refuse indirectly, Yeoul stood up and held out his hand. In the end, he took his hand and got up.

“Taewoong, before going to the nurse’s office, let’s wash your hands clean in the bathroom and get tissue.”

“Huh? Okay.”

They had to be careful of secondary infections, not just zombies. It was best to get the hands as clean as possible.

His hands were a mess. He tried to wash his hands before getting hand sanitizer from the nurse’s office, but to get to the bathroom at the end of the opposite corridor, they had to pass by the zombies loitering in the corridor after the bell stopped. Taewoong looked at their clasped hands then the zombies and put down his backpack after much thought.

“Mm… Let’s put it in for now.”

They might have to fight zombies. He dumped the contents of the convenience store plastic bag into the backpack. That wasn’t enough so he forcibly stuffed the cake box in. With Yeoul’s help, he put on the heavy backpack. Yeoul crumpled up the plastic bag and put it in his pocket just in case.

Taewoong held the bat with both hands and briefly caught his breath. Yeoul, standing next to him, picked up the outerwear and mop handle he had collected from the classroom and made an “ah” sound.

“Um… can I make a suggestion?”

As Taewoong tried to move, Yeoul grabbed his arm and carefully gauged his reaction. Taewoong opened his eyes wide then nodded. Yeoul glanced at the zombies.

“The… zombies clearly don’t seem to see well but their noses are a bit suspicious.”

“Nose? Ah, smell?”

“Mm-hmm. It seems like they smell but also not, it’s confusing.”

“Ah, okay. Got it.”

The zombies all had cloudy pupils. Because of that, they didn’t seem to see well. Instead, their hearing was amazing. So they just had to be careful not to make noise, but it wasn’t certain yet if they could smell.

It would be good to check if possible but no good method came to mind. After agonizing and giving his opinion, Taewoong readily nodded.

“I’ll go closer and take a look.”

Taewoong decided to watch the zombies’ reaction as he passed by them. He immediately began walking quietly with muffled footsteps.

The floor was a mess with someone’s blood and a murky liquid resembling drool from zombies along with dark red blood.

The soles of their shoes could slip if blood got on them. As he walked, avoiding it as much as possible, he got close to a zombie. Taewoong raised one hand. After blocking Yeoul who was following, he took a deep breath, then slowly brought his face close to the zombie.

“Kaack!! Ack!”

They must have been human until a few hours ago but the smell was terrible. Taewoong’s face contorted uglily at the horrendous stench worse than food waste.

Yeoul, who had been watching the situation two steps away, slightly grabbed Taewoong’s arm. At the same time, the zombie jerked its head and sniffed.

Can’t it smell? The moment he thought that, the zombie cried out and opened its mouth wide. With the sound of flesh tearing, its mouth opened beyond its limit. Taewoong tried to lean forward and push it away but Yeoul pulled the arm he had grabbed in a panic. From the pulling force, Taewoong took a big step back.

“Oh.”

“…That, that was dangerous.”

It was dangerous but thanks to that, they found out zombies react to foul odors and smell. Taewoong looked at Yeoul with admiration. Yeoul nodded with a pale face.

Now they had to be careful of smell too. Taewoong, who was nearly 190cm tall, lowered his posture greatly. He walked uncomfortably in an awkward posture, straightening his back when there were no zombies and lowering his posture when passing by them.

Like that, they finally arrived at the bathroom after passing the student counseling room, server room, etc.

“Wow, fuck… we finally made it to the bathroom.”

“Mm-hmm.”

As soon as they opened the door with admiration for reaching the bathroom with difficulty, they made eye contact with a passenger.

“Damn it, what is it?”

Taewoong scrunched up his face when he saw the visitor.

“Lee Jian, why are you here?”

He looked from head to toe at Jian, the short-haired member of the baseball team from Class 7 on the same floor. Jian, who was also looking at Taewoong, let out a hollow laugh.

“What else would be the reason for being in the bathroom?”

“…… You came to the bathroom to pee when zombies are swarming?”

“Then should I pee in the damn classroom? By the way, why is the soccer team carrying a bat bag?”

“Why is the baseball team holding a racket then?”

Jian was holding a tennis racket high as if he thought a zombie had opened the bathroom door. Taewoong absurdly grabbed and lowered the racket that looked like it would hit his head at any moment and stepped aside. Yeoul, who naturally came in and closed the bathroom door, stood next to him. Jian, who was looking at Taewoong, frowned.

“What, why is the nerd here?”

Jian blatantly looked Yeoul up and down from his head to his toes as he held his breath. Taewoong, who saw that, crumpled his eyes.

“Hey, speak nicely.”

“What’s wrong with calling him a nerd. So why is he here?”

Classes 1~3 were liberal arts, 4~6 were arts, and 7~9 were athletics, and the relationships between each division were not very good.

Liberal arts students called arts and athletics stupid, athletics called liberal arts and arts students wimps, arts students called liberal arts and athletics uncultured, and so on, they cursed and looked down on each other.

Taewoong, who had no particular interest other than soccer, was not bothered by the disregard from other divisions, but he didn’t know about Yeoul. So he warned him, but Jian blatantly gave Yeoul a dirty look. He even glared at Yeoul as if Taewoong’s cold face wasn’t visible. In the end, he stood in front of Yeoul.

“He came to see me. Why.”

“Why would a Class 1 nerd come to see an Class 9 idiot.”

“Hey, are you done talking?”

He calls a smart friend a nerd, and on top of that, he calls him an idiot even though he’s also from the athletics division on the 5th floor. Taewoong absurdly narrowed the distance with Jian in a big stride.

“Wa, wait… Taewoong-ah……”

Taewoong and Jian, who had been bickering until a little while ago, stood facing each other and growled. Yeoul gently called Taewoong and weakly grabbed his arm as if they would start a fistfight at any moment. Taewoong glanced at Yeoul and then looked at Jian.

“Watch your words.”

There was no time. He gave Jian one more low warning and went to the sink.

As Yeoul wanted, he washed his hands cleanly with soap. While shaking off the water, he discovered Jian continuously glaring at Yeoul. Taewoong couldn’t stand it anymore and opened his mouth with an “Ah shi-“, then looked puzzled.

“Hey, how do you know Choi Yeoul is from Class 1?”

“Is there anyone who doesn’t know that bastard is from Class 1?”

“…… Ah, I told you to speak nicely.”

He’s already annoyed to death because of the zombies, but he keeps picking fights. Taewoong gave an ominous final warning as he grabbed the bat properly. Jian looked at the bat in Taewoong’s hand and twisted the corner of his mouth.

“You’ll hit me with that?”

“If you don’t want to get hit, speak nicely.”

Jian also gripped the racket tightly as if he wouldn’t back down either. Yeoul’s face turned pale.

Th, they really look like they’re going to fight! Yeoul was about to say let’s just go at Taewoong’s sharply hostile appearance he had never seen before. At that moment, the toilet stall door swung open with a bang!
