# Chapter 3
“I’m leaving.”
“What? Weren’t you going to the club today?”
Kim Bojin looked at me with a face full of betrayal.
“So what was your college entrance exam grade?”
“…Shit. Why are you bringing up that gloomy topic now? I was having fun forgetting all about it.”
“Anyway, go home quietly and pray with a glass of water ready. So, will you be able to get into a university in Seoul?”
“You son of a…”
Leaving behind Kim Bojin who was talking trash, I greeted the driver who came to pick me up and got into the car.
When the door closed, everything suddenly became quiet. The car moved smoothly. As I sank into the seat, I suddenly thought of Do Jihoon whom I had met earlier.
Nothing has happened yet. Maybe I overreacted too much by myself.
His scent was really nice. I could immediately see why he was the main character. It was a warm and cozy scent.
But I didn’t want to run into him again if I could help it. I wouldn’t let this world I’d entered follow the original story, but there was no need to deliberately set up death flags either.
But my hopes were mercilessly crushed.
The next day, after watching a romantic comedy movie in the classroom for about the fifth time, I was leaving school with Kim Bojin while deciding on lunch.
At the point where the east and west buildings meet, I smelled that scent without fail. A pheromone scent like a warm sun. My head unconsciously turned toward the dominant Alpha. Our eyes met. I couldn’t hear any of the noisy chatter of the other students. I stared into those black eyes that seemed to pull me in.
“Hey. There’s something between you and him.”
Kim Bojin poked my side. I was so startled that I yelped.
“Nothing is going on.”
I said, trying to appear calm. How could I mention that there was engagement talk between my family and Do Jihoon’s?
“Really? Then club.”
Kim Bojin looked at his phone and shouted “club” as if nothing had happened. Thanks to that, my slightly stiffened body relaxed.
“Club addict. Stop it. It’s vacation in two days and we’ll be adults in ten days, so let’s go then?”
I hit Kim Bojin lightly while trying hard to take my mind off Do Jihoon’s scent.
But the next day too.
“…”
And even on the last day of school before vacation.
“…Do you see him often these days?”
I ran into Do Jihoon every day, to the point where even clueless Kim Bojin noticed. It was ridiculous.
What is this? Is this the force of the original story? Is Yeon Yuri’s future destined for destruction or something?
“Now that it’s vacation, we’ll probably see less of him.”
“Ah! Right, vacation!”
“You scared me. Do you have an amplifier in your throat? Control your volume.”
“No. Like you said, we’re becoming adults soon, right? That means we can legally go to bars and clubs!”
Kim Bojin smiled more brightly than I’d ever seen. It was almost holy.
“You’re… so consistent…”
“So if you don’t answer my call on December 31st evening, you’re dead.”
“Um, no. I have plans with family that day, so I can’t go. Good luck.”
I tried to show a regretful expression. But the more emotion I put into it, the more Kim Bojin’s face crumpled.
“You fake bastard.”
“What can I do if I have plans? Go with other friends. We can meet another day.”
“Damn… What fun would it be going to the club with guys like them? Their looks are like squid and their scent smells like poop.”
“Kim Bojin, your personality is showing. Do you look in the mirror? And is your sense of smell okay?”
“You jerk…”
Kim Bojin pretended to sniffle. I patted his back. It was like a comedy.
“Let’s make it January 1st. That evening. I won’t postpone it any further.”
“Okay. Deal.”
And so we welcomed the vacation.
❖ ❖ ❖
December 25th was Christmas. A religiously significant day and a nationwide festive day.
And a day for couples.
I was alone, rolling around at home. My grand plan to sleep from 11:59 PM on December 24th until 12:01 AM on December 26th had failed gloriously.
While I was lying face down miserably, flailing my arms and legs, a vibration sound went off along with the KakaoTalk notification.
[Kim Bojin: Hey, come out, you’re sulking lol]
[Are you psycho? I’m really sick]
[Kim Bojin: Come ouuuut, I’m with some Alphas]
[Kim Bojin: These guys smell like poop themselves but they keep hitting on us ㅜㅜㅜ]
[Kim Bojin: They came over to our table asking if they could join us;;]
[Kim Bojin: Recruiting Yeon Yuri who can make these squid-looking Alpha guys go into heat (0/1)]
[What am I to you?]
[Kim Bojin: Sweetie~]
[Ugh, I feel like throwing up; I think I can’t come out because I need to go vomit]
[Kim Bojin: You jerk, if you come, I’ll get you IEL’s autograph that you like ㅜ]
[I don’t like them anymore.]
[Kim Bojin: How can love change so easily]
A chuckle escaped my mouth. This guy was really something. He was a funny guy.
[Should I come?]
There was nothing to do anyway. My parents went to work on Christmas so they could rest on the 31st, and my sister went out to meet her boyfriend. My parents were a couple too, so damn, I was the only single person.
[Kim Bojin: Wow.]
[Kim Bojin: Wowww]
[Kim Bojin: I love you, bro]
[No need to thank me, I’m keeping this debt for later use]
[Kim Bojin: You calculating bastard]
[?]
[Kim Bojin: I meant you’re so meticulous^^ As expected, bro bb]
[Where should I go?]
While getting the location from Kim Bojin, I put on layers of clothes. People should dress warmly, but… I couldn’t go looking shabby when Kim Bojin, who I’d become quite close with, was being hit on. I opened Yeon Yuri’s neatly organized dressing room.
❖ ❖ ❖
I arrived at the place Kim Bojin told me about. Next to a sign that said AZ, there was a small note saying “For Manifested Only.”
I entered the building and looked around. The mixed smells of Omegas and Alphas and all sorts of scents were so strong it was disgusting.
“Hey! Yeon Yuri, over here, over here.”
Kim Bojin’s arm waved from an inner table. I slightly covered my nose with my finger and walked inside.
As I approached the table, I saw three Omegas including Kim Bojin and three Alphas sitting across from them. I looked at the table because of the squid smell, but there was only spaghetti and pizza.
So the poop smell Kim Bojin mentioned was actually a real poop smell. How could a person’s pheromone scent smell like dried squid?
While I was observing the Alphas, they were also observing me. They snickered at me.
“This is a restaurant that only allows manifested people to enter. How did a Beta get in?”
I was dumbfounded by that sneering remark. It was also a bit strange. It was the first time I’d been treated like someone without a scent. Plus, it was also my first encounter with a Beta discriminator.
“What are you talking about? He’s not a Beta.”
“Mr. Bojin. You don’t need to cover for him. I don’t smell any scent at all? If he’s not a Beta, is he a dominant Omega?”
“Yes.”
At my answer, they laughed as if they’d heard a funny joke. But when none of us laughed, they gradually stopped laughing. The man who smelled like squid jerky slowly opened his mouth and pointed at me.
“Really?”
“Yes.”
I didn’t want to speak at length. Along with my answer, I released my pheromones. A feeling of extreme displeasure flowed through my pheromones. The scent of angry roses filled the table and spilled outside.
The three Alphas’ eyelids relaxed. A dreamy expression was directed at me. It was extremely unpleasant to be stared at by these ugly guys with bad personalities, but I continued to release pheromones because of Kim Bojin’s triumphant expression.
“Oh, so what did you say to my friends? I didn’t hear that.”
“Well… that…”
The female Alpha panted with flushed cheeks. In place of the hesitating three Alphas, Kim Bojin opened his mouth.
“He said you smell really sour. Said you smell like rotten tangerines.”
“Oh, really?”
The Alpha who smelled like squid jerky bowed his head and responded.
“No. That…”
“Strange. I don’t smell any citrus, but I can’t breathe because of the fishy smell coming from this table right now.”
When I cut off the man’s words, everything went quiet. I smiled and opened my mouth again.
