Chapter 65
I’ve been feeling a bit strange lately.
I’ve always known that Espers are good-looking—that’s a given—and having grown up seeing them, I thought I was sufficiently immune to their appearances.
The problem is that these two guys are excessively good-looking.
They were famous before my regression, so you can imagine how they are. Even with some childish features still lingering on their faces, both have long limbs and tall statures. Even when they throw on clothes carelessly, they prove that a face completes the fashion, making me afraid to stand next to them.
“Black again? Ji Yeohoon, are you going to Fashion Week?”
Right now, I’m even more afraid to stand beside them because their outfits are polar opposites.
I’m dressed very ordinarily in a trendy long padded jacket, looking like a high schooler going to a ski resort from any angle.
Of course, I have more dark-colored clothes since I can’t really pull off sporty styles, perhaps because of the memories from my twenty-six years of life.
The problem is Yoon Cheong, who’s wearing a black turtleneck, black coat, black pants, and black shoes.
With his black hair and strikingly beautiful blue eyes, he stands out even more.
“Are you a grim reaper?”
“This is comfortable.”
It might be comfortable for you, but not for those looking at you.
If you fall while skiing, people might think it’s my time to go or wonder if someone called my name three times.
Standing next to him is Ji Yeohoon, who completely contrasts with Yoon Cheong, making him equally eye-catching.
With his light-colored hair and green eyes, plus a flashy appearance that attracts all kinds of attention, he’s wearing a coat because, according to him, Espers don’t feel cold.
What was it called? Like an idol’s lavish casual fashion, but the fact that it suits him makes it even more ridiculous.
“Are you traveling abroad?”
“What?”
“Are you an idol?”
“Don’t you think my clothes look pretty?”
“Isn’t it too flashy?”
Yet somehow, the colors match perfectly.
I’m wondering how he managed to put all those vibrant colors on his body, but seeing how well they go together, it seems this guy gets away with it all because of his face.
“You two, walk about three meters apart from each other.”
“Why would I walk close to Yoon Cheong hyung?”
“I don’t want to be near him either.”
“No, I meant away from me.”
I’m being compared. 100%.
As soon as I finished speaking, they stuck right next to me with faces that said they didn’t like my suggestion, so I gave each of them a pat on the back and boarded the bus heading to the ski resort.
The triplets sat in the very back row with excited faces, and since I made the two guys who were shooting electric glares, competing to sit next to me, sit together, Yoon Cheong and Ji Yeohoon looked miserable.
Do Yoon-seo sat in the second-to-last row with Oh Ji-hyun, thanks to Baek Da-hyuk who had saved her a seat in front of him in the back row.
The Ye brothers, whom I was keeping an eye on, were quietly traveling in seats near where the triplets were making noise.
Surprisingly, they’re sitting next to each other.
“Can’t you do something about them? The teacher’s neck feels a bit prickly.”
“If I don’t keep them like that, they’ll be too noisy.”
“Is the back of my head on fire?”
“Unfortunately, teacher, it looks the same as when I saw it in March, except maybe slightly less hair.”
“The class president’s words are too scary.”
“You flatter me.”
I was traveling with the Guide class’s homeroom teacher.
There were a few senior high school students I didn’t know, but they were only Espers. Only our grade and the third-year middle schoolers had both Espers and Guides.
It’s understandable since it’s not easy for Espers and Guides to be this close, but it felt somewhat bitter that the longer school life goes on, the more difficult it becomes to get along well.
Guides unwillingly develop fears of reverse guiding from Espers, and even when they become friends, they can get hurt by the Espers’ words.
In particular, even if they want to get along well, there are always some Espers who view Guides merely as ‘people or tools for guiding,’ so there was always some divide.
Conversely, Espers also couldn’t approach Guides who were afraid of them, and even special cases like Ye Han-dam get along well these days.
However, in the early days after transferring, he had approached Guides with expectations that guiding might work this time, only to be disappointed as soon as reverse guiding was confirmed.
They say you just need to be careful, but the reality is that it doesn’t always go as planned.
Should I be thankful that the people around me get along well with each other?
Can Espers and Guides never be comfortable with each other unless they’re lovers?
After looking at the high school Espers from different grades sitting apart, I turned my head forward.
“It feels like our class is going on a trip since there aren’t many other senior students.”
“That’s right, only three grades are going this time.”
Thanks to that competitive spirit, the third-years weren’t coming, and only three second-years were.
Since there were no other middle school grades, it really felt like we were going just as our group.
“Every time I’m on a long bus ride, I wish I could travel with someone who has teleportation abilities.”
“…Are you okay?”
“No, I’m not.”
The high school first-year Esper class assistant homeroom teacher and the middle school third-year Esper class homeroom teacher were sitting together.
I didn’t know they were a couple even after seeing them for a year.
I sighed while listening to the real-time conversation between the teacher who was mumbling “please let me off” and the other teacher who was fidgeting helplessly.
It felt a bit like watching a romantic comedy—the one dying from motion sickness was groaning, while the other offered medicine, then water, then a black bag, only to get their side pinched for being “too fussy.”
“Do they do this often?”
“This is actually mild because you’re here, Soo-young. Impressive, right?”
When I rummaged through my bag and offered motion sickness medicine, the Esper quickly took it for their dying Guide.
“Thank you,” the teacher said quietly, and the other looked pleased.
There was a reason they wanted to look good in front of that teacher despite being late—because of Ji Yeohoon who would soon be promoted to the first year of high school.
Homeroom teachers or subject teachers rarely changed for each grade.
To begin with, the school only had one class per grade, so the teachers were all the same, and subject teachers often taught both middle and high school.
And the Esper class assistant homeroom teacher who was currently dying is also the dormitory supervisor, trying to somehow get Ji Yeohoon into a room near me and Yoon Cheong.
Knowing that me, Yoon Cheong, and Ji Yeohoon always stuck together, they teased us by joking that they would definitely change our room assignments.
At least, with the motion sickness medicine received, I might be able to somewhat stop the teacher’s teasing and prevent Ji Yeohoon from getting irritated every time.
Actually, they didn’t seem to realize that they teased Ji Yeohoon more because his reactions—bursting out in anger despite pretending to be grown-up—were amusing.
I decided to pretend I didn’t know either.
Thanks to him, I learned that even when a good-looking kid gets angry and runs his fingers through his hair, that’s good-looking too.
“We’re here, let’s get off.”
It took about three and a half hours to reach the ski resort.
As soon as we got off, I stretched my stiff body, but the air was much colder than in Seoul.
The cold wind seemed to freeze my insides as it entered through my nose and mouth, making me hunch over again.
“Cold?”
Yoon Cheong asked as he approached with my luggage and his own from the bus cargo hold.
Of course it’s cold, I rubbed my shivering body with my hands, and Yoon Cheong beckoned me over.
“Why?”
“Just because.”
Saying I looked cold, he pulled me into a hug, and I stayed still.
Even though he was wearing much thinner clothes than me, he wasn’t cold at all. Unlike me with my bright red ears and nose, his face color remained exactly the same as usual.
Ji Yeohoon, who got his luggage out a bit later, approached with a sulky face and had a long stare-down with Yoon Cheong.
“It’s because he’s cold, because he’s cold.”
“Soo-young hyung, me too.”
“Come here, then.”
“If you get away from Yoon Cheong hyung. Get away, hyung. I don’t intend to give you my body heat.”
“I don’t either.”
Are you going to fight again? Thinking I’d passed on enough guiding bigar, I pulled away from Yoon Cheong, and immediately Ji Yeohoon quickly wrapped his arm around my waist.
“Hyung, I’ll help carry your luggage.”
“Really? That’s great for me.”
This is convenient and nice. Ji Yeohoon, who was smiling comfortably after guiding worked, separated from me and reached out his hand to Yoon Cheong as if asking for the suitcase, but Yoon Cheong levitated the suitcase in midair.
“Hand it over.”
“I grabbed the bag first.”
“I’m the one who got the answer from hyung.”
Since it was floating in the air, it was impossible for Ji Yeohoon to grab it even if he enhanced his strength.
I watched Yoon Cheong with his victorious expression and Ji Yeohoon desperately reaching out, then simply turned around.
No matter which one of them wins, they’ll both have to come to the room anyway.
Thanks to their efforts in persuading the teachers, the three of us were sharing a room.
Either of you win and come; the strong one who wins gets to carry my luggage.
“Seong-jin hyung, run!”
Until Ji Yeohoon shouted and Yoon Seong-jin started running, I thought everything was normal.
Ridiculously, at that sound, Yoon Seong-jin ran.
Why on earth are you running when you hear that?
I was watching in disbelief when Yoon Seong-jin jumped high, probably with strength enhanced by Ji Yeohoon, and caught the suitcase. Yoon Cheong hadn’t expected this either and didn’t think about levitating the bag higher.
When Yoon Seong-jin came down to the ground with the suitcase, Ji Yeohoon held out his hand.
It looked like he was asking for it since Yoon Seong-jin had caught it, but there was no way Yoon Seong-jin would hand it over.
Sure enough, this time Yoon Seong-jin shook his head, and because Ji Yeohoon ran toward Yoon Seong-jin, the spacious parking lot suddenly became the scene of a hide-and-seek game.
“Teacher.”
“Yes, Soo-young?”
“Can I just pretend I don’t know those kids?”
“Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s possible…”
“Sigh…”
“Can’t you stop them?”
“It’s useless.”
The teacher sighed, looking completely lost on how to handle these noisy guys’ behavior.
The teacher gave me a look that asked if I really couldn’t stop them, but I also find it difficult to intervene when they’re this rowdy, so I had no choice but to leave them alone until someone won.
They weren’t fighting seriously, and I knew if we left them alone for a while, they’d eventually stop on their own. Even though it was awkward to intervene, I knew no one would get hurt, so it seemed better to just go inside.
Just as I was thinking about what I would have done if I were an Esper, someone rushed by quickly.
So fast they were barely visible, the wind blew strongly as they passed by.
“Wow, that guy is really fast.”
“He was like that last time too.”
I heard Sun Cheol-ho and Baek Da-hyuk chattering.
By the time Ji Yeohoon and Yoon Seong-jin had circled the parking lot for the fifth time, it was the silver-haired boy who snatched the suitcase.
“Here.”
“…Huh?”
Why on earth? Why did you suddenly steal that and give it to me?
Ye Han-seo held out the suitcase handle to me with a calm face.
“Thanks…?”
Before I could even properly look at him, the boy who had handed me the suitcase quickly turned around and headed inside the resort.
What on earth is going on with that guy?
