The Mermaid Who Swallowed a Ruby 14

Chapter 14

“…? Alright, I’ll wait over there.”

Harriet, not understanding what Ender had said, lightly tapped his shoulder and limped outside where Ryan was waiting.

Ender carefully took out Harriet’s socks and brought them close to his nose. And before Harriet’s figure had even disappeared, Ender had already lowered his pants and taken out his penis. From the moment he removed Harriet’s military boots, his penis was already stiff and throbbing.

Burying his nose in the socks that still carried Harriet’s faint scent, Ender slowly stroked his penis. His massively erect organ twitched in his palm, dripping thin fluid as if in anger.

“Sunbae… Sunbae…”

It was a wonder how he could restrain himself in front of Harriet when he was this aroused. But Ender absolutely couldn’t carelessly move a finger toward Harriet.

If Harriet didn’t permit it, Ender couldn’t place any of his belongings anywhere in Harriet’s house. Ender wanted to install CCTV to observe Harriet 24 hours a day inside the house. But that too required Harriet’s permission.

Ender looked down at the white sock with half-lidded eyes like a languid predator. His red eyes became dreamy.

It was such a seductive sight that anyone who saw it would become aroused too. The broad shoulders, the masculine yet strangely sensual face, the droplets of sweat rolling down, and even the reddened eyes. Everything was perfect.

…If only it weren’t for the sock in his hand.

Ender brought the sock to his penis and wrapped it around. He stroked his penis with the sock. Though Harriet’s warmth was gone, his scent remained. This was the moment his number one treasure changed.

He instinctively moved his hand and ejaculated into the sock. Thick white fluid soaked the sock.

“Haah, haah.”

Catching his breath, Ender thought about how wonderful it would be to mix with Harriet like this. He stuck out his tongue and licked his own semen on the sock.

“Ryan.”

“Ah, Chief.”

Surprisingly, Ryan was conversing with an eagle.

So there was such an eagle in this countryside.

The majestic eagle flew up, circled impressively above Ryan’s head, and then disappeared into the sky.

“The eagle says it will help find the tiger.”

Ryan’s ability became more impressive the more Harriet saw it. To think he could even scout using animals – Harriet smiled at his capable and kind subordinate’s ability. As they waited for the eagle, Ryan carefully spoke to Harriet, who was sitting on a rock looking at the sky.

“Um… how do you know Lieutenant Colonel Ender?”

Harriet stroked his chin and smiled bitterly. Ryan seemed unable to imagine any connection between Harriet and Ender. Ryan sat on the rock next to Harriet.

It might be even harder to imagine a connection between someone who limped and was demoted to this rural village to enjoy the rest of his life leisurely, and Ender McGuire, a national hero.

“Back at the academy…”

Not knowing Harriet’s ability, Ryan became curious about his superior’s power. What kind of ability did Harriet have that allowed him to graduate from the same academy as the genius Ender McGuire?

And judging from Ender’s behavior, he seemed to admire the seemingly helpless man before him. Ryan tried to read Ender’s emotions but failed. It was because a storm of all kinds of emotions threatened to swallow him whole.

“A cute kitten lost its way…”

A kitten? Who? That Ender McGuire? That war hero who conquered the sea? The ruthless man who controls the wind and attacks the sea?

“I kept him company for a while.”

“…”

“Somehow he started following me.”

No, that didn’t seem right, Ryan thought. But Harriet’s eyes had an inorganic gleam, as if appreciating the whims of a cute animal.

Ryan had always thought Harriet was empty. From their first meeting until now, Ryan couldn’t read Harriet’s emotions.

Not being able to read someone’s emotions was a first for Ryan. He had felt that Harriet Alster was empty. A person without any greed or desires.

Harriet’s white faded pupils and hair, everything about him was so faint under the sunlight that it seemed about to break, and Ryan sometimes wondered:

Would something ever appear to fill this empty man?

“…Chief.”

“Hmm… I think the tiger can reduce its body size.”

“Ah.”

“An animal esper.”

Animals with abilities appeared from time to time. Most of them were managed by the military. Harriet gently scraped the densely branched ground to reveal tiger footprints slightly larger than a cat’s and smiled faintly.

* * *

Kak, kak, kak.

The magpie was cawing.

Chirp, chirp, chirp.

Next to it, a sparrow with its small body cried out loudly as if not to be outdone. The birds seemed to understand his mood so well that their cries sounded melancholic. Anschel got out of the military vehicle, unable to stop his 2:8 parted hair from becoming disheveled in the wind.

Whee-ing-

With perfect timing, a flyer stuck to Anschel’s face with a smack before flying away in the wind. Anschel looked up at the hot sun with a blank expression.

Because of that damn superior, I’m being sent to a place like this.

Anschel cursed inwardly. But he couldn’t utter those words aloud. That ghostly monster of a superior was a superhuman who could hear people talking about him from 200km away.

Anschel opened the trunk and took out three large carriers. If someone asked how he could pull all of these at once, he could answer that it became possible when you pulled with all your might.

Before reaching his destination, Anschel entered a shabby, old pharmacy. From the outside, it was questionable whether they were still in business, but the narrow pharmacy was quite packed with medicines.

An old man in a pharmacist’s coat came out from inside. The old man’s eyes widened in surprise at Anschel’s military uniform. Well, the appearance of a young person in such a rural area would be surprising. Especially a young man in a military uniform.

“What brings another young soldier to a place like this?”

The old man smiled kindly and adjusted his glasses. Anschel laughed hollowly, “Ha ha.”

“…I wonder that myself.”

By now, it’s all thanks to my superior who’s probably grinning from ear to ear after meeting his senior.

Anschel felt his anger rising again, making his stomach hurt. He wanted to go back to his past self who was happy and excited when first assigned as that man’s aide, slap himself a couple of times, and tell himself to snap out of it. Anschel clutched his aching stomach and barely managed to say:

“Five boxes of stomach medicine, please…”

He felt like he was going to need a lot of it going forward.

Harriet stared blankly at the sky and slowly closed his eyes. Though it was hot summer, the forest breeze was still cool. The unique freshness of the forest pleasantly enveloped Harriet’s body.

As Harriet was feeling the breeze, he heard a whistle. Ryan was whistling to the sky, calling the eagle.

Then a black dot could be seen gradually approaching from far away. The eagle flew fiercely through the sky before slowly descending. The way it elegantly descended while flapping its wings resembled someone. It made sense why Ender’s unit had designated the eagle as their trademark.

The eagle landed lightly on Ryan’s shoulder. Ryan stroked the eagle’s chin and head, seemingly unaffected by the terrifyingly sharp talons. The way it opened its beak wide and shook its head made it hard to tell whether it liked or disliked the attention.

Ryan put his head close to the eagle’s and whistled a few times, then looked up with a troubled expression. The eagle, as if it had completed its task, flapped its wings and soared back into the sky. Ryan turned his head.

“It seems finding the tiger won’t be easy.”

“If it shrinks its body to hide, it would be difficult. There are many lynxes too…”

There was no guarantee that the tiger wouldn’t harm people. That tiger hated humans, and this was a place where powerless elderly people occasionally came to gather herbs or wild vegetables. Though rugged, the mountain with its somewhat cleared paths was also used as a walking trail by the elderly.

While Harriet and Ryan were pondering what to do, someone approached them with rustling sounds. It was Ender, who was letting out a seductive laugh, having just done something.

“Ender.”

Unable to ask if he had successfully finished his lower body business, Harriet smiled awkwardly, stared intently at Ender’s lower half as he approached, then looked up. Ender was smiling much more refreshingly and brightly than before. Even Ryan beside him could tell that Ender McGuire was in a good mood.

“Did you take care of it well?”

“Yes, it was a very productive time.”

“…Is that so?”

Not knowing what was productive about it but finding the happy-looking Ender cute, Harriet nodded. If Ryan had known what Ender had done there, he might have advised that it wasn’t quite appropriate, but unfortunately, he didn’t know the truth.

“It will soon be the hottest time of the day.”

Ender glanced at Harriet. The hot summer sun was poison to Harriet. Knowing what Ender was worried about, Harriet glanced at Ryan and shook his head. It was a gesture telling him not to mention it.

Ender looked displeased for a moment but obediently followed his senior’s words.

“It seems it did pass through here. Since its body is small, it probably didn’t go far.”

Harriet said, following footprints slightly larger than a cat’s. Of course, cats are excellent climbers, but the tiger had probably spent its entire life in the military. So it clearly wouldn’t move much in unfamiliar territory.

Harriet, who liked animals, had quite diverse knowledge about them. Among them, his favorite animal was, unusually, the frog. That’s why Harriet’s most treasured mug had a frog picture on it.

"Congratulations on your graduation." His young junior was staring intently at Harriet with unwavering eyes. The red pupils meeting his own sparkled beautifully like rubies. "I will. I will make your wish come true." Why? "...When that time comes, please take me as your adjutant." That was something he hadn't expected at all. And several years later, Harriet's 'Ruby' appears before him, now a war hero. . . . "Height 182cm, weight 75kg, a genius whose abilities emerged at ten years old, favorite food is cocoa. On weekends, he mostly reads or sits in his favorite café enjoying quiet contemplation. For reference, I spend all my weekends observing him. Ah, don't misunderstand. It's just that after seven years of unrequited love, I've memorized these things." His aide, who had never witnessed the man speak at such length, turned pale. 'The world generally calls that being a stalker.'
