Chapter 39

M Magazine had always been one of the high-end publications catering to Omegas, consistently ranking among the top three in sales across all magazines.

The top three magazines were always neck and neck in sales each month, fiercely competing for the lead.

But this month was different.

This month, everyone knew M Magazine would leave its competitors in the dust.

Because they had managed to photograph General Qi’s wedding and even secured two brief interviews, one of which was compensation from General Qi for delaying their schedule.

When competitors heard about this, they nearly gritted their teeth in frustration. Compensation? What was there to compensate for?

General Qi and his partner were just too courteous.

But some who had interviewed General Qi before found it hard to believe. “He wasn’t this accommodating in past interviews, everything was ‘no comment.’ How did this one go so smoothly?”

The editor-in-chief of M Magazine smiled without answering. Well, it depended on who was by his side. With the wrong person, of course he wouldn’t speak.

These words made their competitors green with envy.

What kind of dumb luck did they have?!

To be chosen by the General’s spouse!

Even before the issue went live, pre-orders had already surpassed 100 million copies. By the time of actual release, sales seemed poised to break 500 million.

It was an astonishing figure, proof that not just Omegas were buying their magazine, but Alphas and Betas too!

Everyone wanted to see what General Qi’s wedding had been like.

For this issue, the editor-in-chief took charge personally, detailing the entire wedding process from start to finish, with a focus on the couple’s relationship.

Another article described the wedding’s romantic opulence.

Yet another highlighted the size of their diamond rings, the brilliance of the designer, the prestige of the wedding attire’s creator, and the expertise of the styling team, along with critiques of the overall aesthetic.

After flipping through the magazine, Xia Ze realized one thing.

These magazines seemed to know more about his wedding than he did!

For instance, the florist who provided the wedding flowers turned out to be a boutique on the 50th floor of the Green Plant Mall, right next door to him, in unit 505.

At the time, he had even quietly complained that their blooms weren’t full enough.

Little did he know they were actually a big deal.

Then there were the designers of the wedding attire and the stage setup, all renowned figures.

Xia Ze almost felt like he was reading about someone else’s wedding.

How surreal.

Just as he was browsing, Ansem called him in a frenzy.

Ansem was the head of his styling team, the one who usually handled Xia Ze’s looks.

A call this early in the morning was unusual.

The moment the call connected, Ansem’s excited voice blared through: “Ahhhh! Xia Ze! Zeze! You’re my lucky star, ahhhh!”

The volume was so loud that even Qi Jing, who had just sat down nearby, glanced over.

Ansem continued, “M Magazine covered your wedding and mentioned my team! Do you know how many bookings I’ve gotten today?! All for weddings! Oh my god, I’m going to make a fortune!”

Ansem’s team had already been somewhat well-known otherwise, they wouldn’t have been recommended by Uncle Qi.

But this wasn’t just “somewhat well-known” anymore they had skyrocketed straight into the top tier!

Soon, everyone and every business mentioned in the magazine whether easy to contact or not was overwhelmed by an avalanche of orders.

It’s not that they were already famous and didn’t care about these things.

They cared!

They cared very much!

This was about becoming even more famous!

As for M Magazine, needless to say, their sales skyrocketed, completing the entire year’s KPI in just a few days.

At this point, who wouldn’t say General Qi’s wedding was absolutely legendary?

To maintain this glory, M Magazine urgently planned a special issue featuring famous Omegas as the theme.

They intended to invite three or four maybe even five high-profile Omegas, including A-list celebrities, veteran award-winning actors, wealthy socialites, and elite Omega socialites.

Basically, the bigger the fame, the better.

With such a lineup, it was bound to be a dazzling spectacle, no doubt readers would eat it up.

Besides, they were doing this for Xia Ze’s sake.

Riding the lingering hype of the wedding, sales were sure to be strong.

And given the current buzz, celebrities would jump at the chance to participate, making recruitment much easier.

The editor-in-chief of M Magazine had it all figured out.

In reality, however, Xia Ze didn’t outright refuse but Qi Jing’s expression darkened.

Looking at the list of Omegas submitted, it almost felt like they were letting Xia Ze pick even choose who he wanted to shoot with.

Was this about selecting co-stars?

Or was it about choosing a partner?

Yet the oblivious kid didn’t even notice, seriously flipping through the profiles while eating.

“This one’s gorgeous, so radiant!”

“Wow, this one’s eyes are so lively, so pretty.”

“His waist is so slim is he a dancer?”

“This one’s hair, red, so striking.”

“General Qi, look at this one.”

Before he could finish, Qi Jing snatched the profile book away, his face expressionless. “Eat.”

“But General Qi, I—” Before Xia Ze could finish, Qi Jing leaned in close to his ear. “In front of others, you call me ‘General Qi’?”

Qi Jing hadn’t originally planned to tease him about the title.

But after frowning over the kid’s preferences last night, receiving calls from Omegas this morning, and now watching him pick through Omega profiles.

Couldn’t he see how unsuitable those people were for him?

At this thought, Qi Jing couldn’t help but act a little maliciously. “Isn’t that… a bit too distant?”

He pointed to a line in the magazine. “This says you call me what, hm?”

Call you what?

Husband, of course.

Xia Ze glanced around—the butler, the chef, the assistants, even military personnel delivering documents were all present.

But he didn’t hesitate. After all, it was just acting. They were already married, and it wasn’t the first time he’d said it, what was the big deal?

“Husband! So which Omega should we pick?” His voice was soft, almost sweet, like he was cooing.

Qi Jing’s hand paused. “None of them are good.”

Xia Ze tilted his head. Why was General Qi so prejudiced against Omegas?

“But they’re great! Look at this one and this pose aren’t they all stunning? I think they’re all really attractive.”

Qi Jing’s temple twitched. He gave the kid a long look before adding, “Don’t you have to go to 506 today? Probably no time for a shoot.”

Just then, Uncle Qi walked over. “No worries, the shoot isn’t until next week. The magazine said they’ll work around Young Master’s schedule.”

In other words, he could shoot whenever he wanted!

Everyone else would adjust to his availability!

Fashion magazines were usually arrogant, but for M Magazine to humble themselves to this extent they must have reaped substantial benefits.

They were internally extremely grateful to Xia Ze, which was why they acted this way.

And it wasn’t just Ansem’s team and M Magazine who felt this gratitude.

Every brand or individual mentioned in this issue of the magazine received endless phone calls.

Those already famous saw their popularity rise another notch.

And they were all being approached for wedding orders, the reason was obvious.

Xia Ze was truly amazing.

Couldn’t you and General Qi just get married again?!

So M Magazine accommodating Xia Ze’s schedule was completely natural.

General Qi opened his mouth but found no reason to refuse.

To outsiders, an Omega child taking photos with a group of Omegas seemed perfectly normal.

But he knew the truth the child was a Beta. Shouldn’t they be avoiding such situations?

Qi Jing frowned, yet the child was enthusiastically discussing the shoot with Qi Bo, clearly looking forward to it.

His lips moved slightly, but in the end, he only said, “Fine. I’ll take you there on the day.”

Qi Bo nodded approvingly. “That’s more like it. You two really have a good relationship.”

It wasn’t about their relationship, he just needed to keep an eye on things.

Xia Ze had no interest in being close to him; he wanted to bond with those people instead. Qi Jing’s gaze shifted to the portfolio, unaware that the child had noticed his expression.

Xia Ze was surprised.

Did General Qi have his eye on one of those Omegas?

Otherwise, why would he be so concerned about this?

Xia Ze thought to himself, he’d observe carefully during the shoot. Maybe he could even help if General Qi liked someone.

Both lost in their own thoughts, they finished breakfast in silence.

With this settled, Xia Ze headed to the Green Plant Emporium for work, while Qi Jing had military affairs to attend to. The driver accompanied him as usual.

The driver, who had previously led a leisurely life at the Qi residence mainly to recover from injuries, now found himself busier and happier with an additional master to serve.

Besides, it was the Green Plant Emporium, he could even soak up some natural energy along the way.

Xia Ze checked a message from the 506 manager:

“Boss, the sunflower seeds have arrived. We’ve already placed them in the cultivation room.”

Attached was a photo of the cultivation room. While they weren’t skilled at plant cultivation, they handled such tasks efficiently.

Xia Ze was thrilled.

The delivery speed was incredible ordered yesterday afternoon, arrived this morning.

On the garbage planet, it would’ve taken at least ten days, with most seeds likely spoiled by then.

He needed to get there fast!

Seeing his excitement, the driver immediately accelerated the hovercraft, full speed ahead!

Only a Qi family driver could push a civilian hovercraft to military aircraft speeds.

After dropping Xia Ze off, the driver followed him into the Green Plant Emporium, he wasn’t just a chauffeur but also a bodyguard, responsible for the safety of General Qi’s spouse.

Today, however, the 50th floor was noticeably livelier than yesterday.

The commotion centered around the neighboring shop, Green Plant Emporium 505.

505 had just opened, yet customers were already lining up with cash in hand.

“Look at us! We’re getting married next week, we want your flowers!”

“Us too! We want the same ones from General Qi’s wedding!”

“Ahhh, stop pushing! We want the same set!”

“I want the exact bouquet General Qi’s wife carried!”

“Every floral decoration and plant they used, we want them all!”

Xia Ze paused mid-step.

Seriously? They wanted everything identical?

Xia Ze was completely dumbfounded.

Just moments ago, he’d only heard from everyone that items from his wedding were being snatched up like crazy. But hearing about it and actually seeing it were two completely different things.

At the same time, Xia Ze felt slightly guilty.

What if these people found out it was a fake wedding?

Never mind, never mind, he should just hurry up and open the door.

As soon as he reached the entrance, Xia Ze saw his shop assistants gazing longingly at the bustling business next door, their voices tinged with envy.

“Wow, if only we had business like that.”

“Mrs. Xia Ze’s matching items are selling so well, maybe we should just ride on the little boss’s coattails?”

“God, I wish we were that busy too.”

“I’m practically getting sick from how idle we are every day.”

The manager of Shop 506 coughed loudly a few times before everyone noticed the little boss had arrived.

Since General Qi was the big boss, Xia Ze naturally became the little boss.

Xia Ze didn’t mind their earlier comments in fact, he found it amusing. Clapping his hands, he said cheerfully, “Don’t worry, we’re about to get busy!”

What they didn’t realize was that Shop 506 was also quite eye-catching.

While the neighboring shop drew attention for its liveliness, theirs stood out for its quietness.

The contrast between the two was simply too stark.

Xia Ze, the new owner of Shop 506, had already purchased a thousand sunflower seeds. Everyone was curious to see what he planned to do with them.

Even if he could grow plants, the difference between one plant and another could be enormous.

Shop 506 wouldn’t thrive just because he was Qi Jing’s husband, it all depended on his own skills.

Unaware of these thoughts, Xia Ze frowned slightly as he examined the sorted sunflower seeds.

Were these seeds, of really poor quality?

They looked shriveled and somewhat old.

After checking hundreds of them, Xia Ze sighed helplessly. A glance at the order screen confirmed that sunflower seeds from this region were all like this.

Oh well. He’d just have to nurture them carefully. Though it might take more time, only good seeds could bloom into beautiful flowers.

He wasn’t in a hurry!

He had time!

"Wait a minute, this kind of alpha actually has a wife?" "You were so brave when fighting the Zerg, and now you can't even knock on a door?" "This is driving me crazy, knock now!" "Hold on, this courtyard looks familiar. Isn’t this the flower shop owner’s place?" As the viewers grind their teeth in frustration, they finally realize something. Who wouldn’t want a beautiful partner who can grow plants that soothe mental energy? Why did it have to be you who ended up with him? Qi Jing raises his eyes and says coldly, "If anyone’s unhappy about it, they’re welcome to challenge me to a duel." Silence falls across the stream. No one dares fight the Empire’s General. Fine, whatever. We might as well wish them a long and happy life together.   One-Sentence Summary: He even made me pretend to be pregnant. Core Message: Face life with a smile.
