Xia Ze listened in disbelief to the conversation between the two men. Although he usually kept to himself, he had always been kind to his neighbors. He never expected them to be so greedy.
In truth, Xia Ze had been extremely cautious whether it was the mask he wore or the deliberately quiet little shop he used as cover nothing unusual had ever been noticed.
He understood the principle that “a man’s wealth is his own ruin.”
But he never imagined that even with all this caution, he could still be discovered by malicious people.
When he heard the word “imprisonment,” cold sweat broke out on his back.
To the outside world, he was just an ordinary Beta. Even if he were imprisoned, the worst they could do was force him to grow plants.
But in reality, he was an Omega. What if these two thuggish Alphas caught him?
Xia Ze took half a step back in fright, immediately alerting his sharp-eared neighbors.
“What was that sound?!”
Xia Ze turned and ran.
“Xia Ze! He saw us! Grab him!”
He couldn’t be caught. Absolutely not.
In his panic, Xia Ze suddenly thought of something. Instead of continuing to flee, he turned and ran toward the control switch for the greenhouse.
Feeling more confident, Xia Ze instinctively shut off the greenhouse controls. The two men, unfamiliar with the layout of the greenhouse, could only watch helplessly as they were trapped inside the transparent glass structure, with every exit sealed tight.
“Are you stupid? A glass greenhouse can’t hold us!”
The thuggish neighbors, now exposed, showed not a shred of remorse. Instead, they sneered, “Once we get out, you’re finished.”
“You’re a pretty little Beta, aren’t you? Not only will you grow plants for us, but you’ll also warm our beds!”
Xia Ze’s face paled, but he muttered softly, “You won’t get the chance.”
A glass greenhouse wouldn’t hold them for long, but Xia Ze pressed another button, and the machinery inside began to operate.
The two Alphas, who had been smashing at the glass, suddenly found it hard to breathe. The oxygen seemed to be slowly depleting, leaving them dizzy and weak, their strength draining away.
The thinning oxygen made their legs go limp.
What was happening?!
What the hell was this?!
Only after completing this did Xia Ze collapse to the ground.
This was his own designed greenhouse. Every gas inside even the UV levels could be adjusted. Otherwise, how could the plants thrive so well?
Drain the oxygen! Let’s see how they handle that!
So what if they were Alphas? Alphas needed oxygen too!
Still, Xia Ze didn’t dare rest. Call the police! Now!
Ten minutes later, the patrol officers arrived. The young Alpha leading them carried an imposing presence. His steps quickened when he saw Xia Ze slumped on the ground, two half-conscious Alphas lying nearby.
“Xiao Ze, are you okay?”
Xia Ze looked up at him, his eyelashes damp with sweat from the ordeal. “I’m fine.”
“I came as soon as I heard it was you who called.”
The young officer, Gao Zhou, had only recently started patrolling this area. He had always liked the quiet, well-behaved Beta who ran the flower shop. Every time he passed by, he would stop in to say hello.
The moment he heard there were intruders here, Gao Zhou rushed over in a panic.
Xia Ze’s eyes held a trace of gratitude. “Th-thank you. Them? They seem to have passed out.”
To prevent the arriving police from seeing his greenhouse, Xia Ze exerted himself dragging out two rather tall thuggish neighbors, leaving him utterly exhausted.
Gao Zhou clearly misunderstood, assuming the Beta Xia Ze had struggled fiercely against the two assailants, which explained his exhaustion. His expression darkened. “Don’t worry about them. They broke in to steal your plants this counts as home invasion. I’ll make sure they’re locked up.”
With that, Gao Zhou ordered his subordinates to tie the two men up and even kicked them for good measure to vent Xia Ze’s anger. “F-grade planets are undergoing reforms too. Did you really think things would stay the same as before?”
The patrol team he led had been dispatched in recent years as part of the military’s initiative to improve living conditions on trash planets, starting with public security. Though reforms were still in progress, he would absolutely enforce strict punishment for such crimes.
Gao Zhou, an Alpha transferred from a high-grade planet and a military academy graduate, was clearly here for experience. With his word, these men wouldn’t get off lightly.
That said, how had a frail Beta like Xia Ze managed to knock out two Alphas? That was seriously impressive. How had he done it?
But there was no rush, they’d question him thoroughly back at the station.
Hearing this, Xia Ze shuddered involuntarily.
They were going to interrogate him?
Wouldn’t that expose his greenhouse? And once those two woke up, they’d definitely blab about it.
Gao Zhou noticed Xia Ze’s unease and, filled with righteous fervor, reassured him earnestly, “Don’t worry. With me here, nothing will go wrong.”
Xia Ze hesitated briefly before nodding. In the chaos, he failed to notice his communicator blinking repeatedly as he hurriedly gathered his things and followed Gao Zhou into the police vehicle.
Meanwhile, in the royal palace on the capital planet, Qi Jing narrowed his eyes, staring at his communicator as if deep in thought.
Had the kid finished his livestream and still not replied?
Seeing him preoccupied with the device, the Emperor and Empress before him couldn’t help but ask, “Has something changed on the front lines?”
Qi Jing looked up, his gaze inscrutable, before his expression cooled again. “Nothing major.”
Exchanging glances, the imperial couple resumed their earlier discussion.
Like the nobility, they believed that as the empire’s top Alpha, he couldn’t possibly marry some unknown Omega. With rumors swirling, caution was necessary.
Besides, they hadn’t even seen what this Omega looked like.
Still receiving no reply from Xia Ze, Qi Jing shut off his communicator and stated flatly, “I see no need to repeat myself.”
“He’ll be moving into the Qi residence soon. I’ve already begun wedding preparations.”
Moving in?
Wedding preparations?
No one could stop Qi Jing’s decisions not even the Emperor and Empress.
The Empress’s face twisted slightly. This nobody Omega had ruined all her plans.
Glancing at the weak-willed Emperor, she seethed inwardly. Useless!
Qi Jing gave a slight nod before turning on his heel and striding out of the palace.
A whole day wasted. It was time to fetch his person.
Recalling Xia Ze’s earlier livestream and the way his eyes had lit up describing the roses, Qi Jing’s eyelids lowered slightly. His fingers brushed his communicator, lost in thought as his pace noticeably quickened.
“Prepare the warp-speed vessel. Destination: F-grade planet.”
His subordinates perked up instantly.
A warp-speed vessel, the fastest ship available!
An F-grade planet?
Wasn’t that where that Omega lived?!
Were they finally going to meet the general’s bride?!
The general’s subordinates were beyond excited. The co-pilot flew the spacecraft at breakneck speed, determined to reach the general’s wife in record time!
Finally!
They arrived at their destination just before dawn!
Qi Jing walked with familiar ease toward Xia Ze’s little flower shop. He still remembered the child’s expression when they renovated the shop those sparkling eyes that found joy in the simplest things.
As he approached the entrance, his top-tier Alpha vision spotted a car parked outside. The very person he’d been thinking about stepped out wrapped in a thick blanket, followed unmistakably by another Alpha.
The Alpha murmured something, and the child looked up with a smile. Even behind a mask, the ease in his eyes was visible.
Qi Jing’s face turned icy, causing his co-pilot’s pupils to tremble in shock.
No way?
Their general’s chosen Omega was being brought home by another Alpha at dawn?!
They were all adults here!
The implications were obvious!
The co-pilot instinctively glanced at the general’s head was there a hint of green up there?!
Qi Jing’s expression remained frosty. With a cold glance, he stated, “That’s a police car.”
A… police car?
Qi Jing strode forward, his Alpha possessiveness making him appear intensely aggressive.
Before he could get close, Gao Zhou, also an Alpha visibly tensed from the discomfort.
Xia Ze instinctively supported his arm, concerned. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
Before Gao Zhou could respond, Xia Ze found himself pulled into another’s embrace. “He’s fine.”
Xia Ze’s eyes widened. General Qi?!
Why was General Qi here?!
Though Qi Jing hadn’t fully unleashed his aura, every Alpha present felt the oppressive weight of a top-tier Alpha’s dominance.
Only the child in his arms remained unaffected, merely flustered by the situation.
“What brings you here? Is something the matter?”
Qi Jing’s gaze deepened as he whispered by his ear, “What else? I came to marry you.”
“My fiancée.
