Chapter 1

In the exquisite greenhouse, various green plants and flowers were arranged in an orderly fashion, with emerald leaves and vibrant blossoms transforming the space into a fairy-tale world.

Yet anyone who entered wouldn’t just see a beautiful flower shop, they’d be captivated by the stunning young man walking among the blooms.

The striking youth held a communicator in one hand, livestreaming while using the other to help fans in the chat select the flowers they needed.

“These flowers can generally be divided into three types: those that bloom year-round, those that bloom repeatedly, and those that bloom only once per season, each with its own pros and cons.”

“For example, this Centifolia rose blooms just once a season, but it has numerous petals, gracefully arching stems, and belongs to an ancient variety with a lovely fragrance.”

“The flower’s meaning? Probably something like, ‘I love you silently.’ Perfect for gifting to someone you secretly admire.”

The livestream audience watched as the camera zoomed in on the delicate pink rose, its petals shimmering with a silvery sheen, a rare sight in the interstellar age, where few could cultivate such an ancient rose variety.

None of the viewers had expected to stumble into a livestream from a remote planet and witness such breathtaking flora.

After all, in this era of interstellar travel, frequent magnetic microbursts had caused environmental degradation. Though many studied botany, few had achieved meaningful results.

On ancient Earth thousands of years ago, such roses might have been commonplace. But in the interstellar age, lush greenery had become something everyone yearned for.

[Ahhhh, it’s so beautiful!!!!]

[If it looks this stunning on camera, how gorgeous must it be in person???]

[Ahhhh, shop owner, how much?! I’ll buy it, perfect for my crush!]

[Me too!! I’ll pay extra!!!]

Only the young man’s fingers were visible in the frame as he gently touched the exquisite rose and smiled. “Sorry, this one’s already been reserved.”

“Even extra money won’t change that.”

Regular viewers knew the florist had impeccable integrity, he’d never hike prices last-minute or switch buyers.

With the camera fixed in place, Xia Ze carefully packaged the rose. As his fingers deftly moved across the wrapping paper, the chat paused briefly before exploding with even more fervor.

[Lick lick lick lick lick!!!!]

[Those hands, that voice, I’m dead. Owner, marry me!]

[Pure visual bliss.]

[Shop owner!!! I want flowers too!!! Can you deliver them personally?!]

[LOL, what are you really after?]

[Give it up, guys. The owner’s clearly still young, just turned eighteen, I think.]

[No problem, I can wait!]

[Me too!]

[Yes!!!!]

[Just look at those fingers must be an incredibly beautiful Omega! You normies don’t stand a chance!]

By the time Xia Ze finished packing and sent off the delivery, he could only laugh helplessly at the chat. At first, such comments had made him blush, but now he was nearly used to them.

Xia Ze touched his still-warm ears.

Well… maybe not entirely used to it yet. Clearing his throat, he said, “I’m just an ordinary person, everyone. Don’t get the wrong idea.”

“Alright, today’s livestream is almost over. If you’d like to buy plants or flowers, feel free to DM your orders, they’re all grown by me.”

“Same rules as always: I can’t ship to places too far away. My planet doesn’t have top-tier courier services, and I can’t get proper long-distance packaging materials. Sorry about that.”

[Ahh, owner, are you leaving already?]

[“Wuwuwu, have to wait until tomorrow to see you again.”]

[“I wonder where the boss lives that even interstellar express doesn’t deliver there.”]

[“Boss, chat a little longer! I’m so sad today wuwuwu, just got my heart broken crying.”]

Xia Ze, who was about to end the livestream, paused his fingers when he saw this comment and said softly, “Don’t be sad. Should we chat a bit longer then?”

[“Such a soft-hearted little boss!”]

[“LOL, boss don’t get fooled! Too many people got their hearts broken today!”]

[“HAHAHAHAHA that thing! Half the interstellar citizens had their hearts broken okay!”]

[“When a peerless top Alpha gets married, who wouldn’t have their heart broken?”]

Xia Ze was still confused, what were they talking about?

He’d never been very informed about outside matters, preferring to tend flowers in his shop every day, so he didn’t understand what the audience meant.

Though he did understand “peerless top Alpha”, A referred to Alpha, which was completely different from the world he’d transmigrated from. Here, humans had six genders: male and female each divided into Alpha, Beta, and Omega, with distinct social roles.

What he couldn’t wrap his head around was that he’d transmigrated as a male Omega in this world.

The key point, Omegas could get pregnant!

A male, getting pregnant!

Xia Ze shivered at the thought.

That’s why, with his grandfather’s help, he’d pretended to be a Beta since childhood. In Xia Ze’s understanding, Betas were the “normal people” of this world!

Even though Omegas received special social privileges due to their superior mental abilities, he chose to remain an ordinary, unremarkable Beta.

Xia Ze shook his head, distracted by the rapidly scrolling chat.

Everyone seemed devastated that this “peerless top Alpha” was getting married.

[“It’s about General Qi Jing of the Empire getting married! The Emperor and Empress are selecting a suitable Omega for him! I heard she must be beautiful, elegant, and of noble bloodline!”]

[“Of course! That’s a peerless top Alpha we’re talking about. If his Omega were ordinary, the public wouldn’t stand for it!”]

[“Which lucky person will get this dream Alpha??? I’m truly heartbroken!!!”]

[“Damn, as the general’s wife, she’ll definitely make public appearances! I want to see what she looks like!”]

[“Wuwuwu don’t remind me, my friend is so depressed she can’t leave her room!”]

[“Can’t be helped that’s Qi Jing we’re talking about.”]

Qi Jing?

Xia Ze instinctively tensed. He knew this person not just knew him, but owed him a great debt.

When the garbage planet he lived on was overrun by space pirates, it was General Qi Jing of the Empire who personally led the troops to rescue the occupied planet, saving both him and his grandfather.

Without Qi Jing, both of them would have died in the war.

Xia Ze glanced at the general’s contact in his communicator.

He’s getting married… that’s wonderful.

Joining the livestream discussion, Xia Ze said earnestly, “The general is a very, very good person. His Omega will surely be the best Omega in the world.”

The livestream viewers immediately agreed.

[“Exactly! He deserves the best Omega!”]

[“Same opinion as the streamer followed.”]

[“Back when space pirates could fight the Empire to a standstill, if not for three generations of the Qi family, we wouldn’t have this peace today.”]

[“That’s Qi Jing we’re talking about! He followed his father to battle at fifteen. After his father and grandfather died on the battlefield, he turned the tide single-handedly. No one is worthy of such a legend!”]

[Quietly saying, it’s because his family’s genes are too strong that he must get married. I heard from the main planet that if he doesn’t have offspring, they won’t let him go to battle anymore.]

[Ah, what’s this about? No kids, no fighting?]

[The Empire has been preparing for this final battle for five years. They’re afraid something might happen to General Qi Jing, cutting off the Qi family’s excellent bloodline.]

[Oh my god, so this is for the Empire’s future? That’s why he has to marry?]

Xia Ze’s eyes widened. He truly hadn’t known the General was getting married for such a reason.

Thinking of that cold, composed, decisive man being held back by such circumstances made him frown subconsciously.

Indeed, the ABO system is just unscientific!

In local terms, top-tier Alphas and Omegas are considered rare resources, their genes especially valuable. That’s why nearly every elite Alpha-Omega pairing is an arranged marriage, all for producing the best offspring.

What a tragic Alpha, even the strongest General can’t escape this fate.

Xia Ze glanced at his reflection in the mirror. Even though he wasn’t narcissistic, he knew his looks were good.

If even the General is being forced into marriage, wouldn’t an Omega like him with no power or influence, have it even worse?

Xia Ze took a deep breath. Even if beaten to death, he’d never reveal he was an Omega! He was a Beta! Always would be!

“I hope the General can marry someone he truly loves, the best person in the world.”

Xia Ze spoke with utmost sincerity, completely unaware that a certain garbled username in the livestream fell silent for a moment.

Someone he loves… the best in the world?

The cold-faced man before the screen tapped his desk, leaning back in his chair as if pondering something, then allowed the faintest smile though his eyes remained icy, giving no hint of his thoughts.

The man opened his communicator and casually sent a message. Though the young shop owner wasn’t visible on stream, viewers could sense his breath hitch slightly.

[Eh? What’s up with the shop owner???]

[Yeah, why does it feel like he took a sharp breath? The screen shook.]

[Right! You can practically feel his hands trembling through the screen!]

[Did something happen?]

Xia Ze stared at the message on his communicator, utterly stunned. Had something really happened?

“No way…”

His fingers curled slightly, accidentally revealing a corner of himself on stream, betraying his nervous unease.

General Qi: Are you free right now? There’s something I’d like to ask of you.

General Qi: If you don’t mind… could you marry me?

If you don’t mind.

Could you marry me???

Xia Ze frantically checked General Qi’s account, muttering, “This has to be hacked, right?”

But who would dare hack the General’s account?

The man before the screen tilted his head slightly, his sharp hearing catching Xia Ze’s words.

He’d intended to enjoy the moment a little longer, but then Xia Ze began hurriedly bidding farewell to his viewers before abruptly ending the stream.

Annoyed, the man shut off his screen and tossed aside the sensor. Glancing at the cowering royal officials beside him, he stated, “Since His Majesty and Her Highness insist I marry, then so be it.”

The room erupted into chaos, no one had expected him to concede so quickly. Yet his overwhelming presence left them too intimidated to utter another word.

After all, when this group of people arrived, they only dared to watch as the man seemed engrossed in his screen, handling official business, not daring to make a single sound.

Once outside the office of the empire’s youngest general, everyone finally let out a sigh of relief, their faces soon brimming with excitement.

The man had finally relented!

He was finally getting married!

Wait, who was the lucky person?

The royal officials exchanged bewildered glances.

“Maybe you should go back and ask.”

“No way, would you dare?”

“Absolutely not. Just being near him is terrifying enough.”

Well, at least he had agreed to marry. That was enough to report back to the emperor and empress. They should hurry and share the good news!

The excitement on the capital planet had nothing to do with Xia Ze, who was far away on a distant garbage planet.

Xia Ze stared at the video call request from General Qi, completely flustered.

What,  what was going on?!

Maybe he should just pretend he hadn’t seen it?

After Pretending to be a Beta, I Married the Imperial General

Status: Ongoing Author:
Xia Ze is a poor little omega with no parents. After his grandfather passed away, he made a simple living by running a flower shop on a low-tier planet. To avoid unnecessary trouble, he grew up pretending to be a beta. After all, he’s someone who transmigrated into this world and really doesn’t want to have a baby for some alpha. Just thinking about a man getting pregnant leaves Xia Ze completely blank inside. All he wants is to quietly grow flowers on this low-tier planet, occasionally stream from his cozy little courtyard, and live a peaceful, uneventful life. But unexpectedly, the Empire’s General personally requested to marry him. And even asked him to pretend to be an omega. Xia Ze had been acting like a beta his whole life. Now the General mistakenly thinks he is a real beta and wants him to act like an omega for their marriage? Xia Ze puts on a quiet smile, though he’s crying inside, as the General earnestly explains how to behave like an omega. For example, wear lace-trimmed clothing, speak softly and gently, drink tea with elegance. Most importantly, the General teaches him how to fake a pregnancy. Xia Ze holds back his frustration. After all, he owes the General a big favor. He just needs to wait until the General returns from the battlefield. Then, he can get a divorce and finally live freely. But as time passes, Xia Ze touches his belly and pauses. It feels like he might actually be pregnant. Apparently a certain plant had something to do with it. As the planned divorce date approaches, Xia Ze decides to hide the truth. Returning to his flower shop and raising the baby on the quiet planet might not be so bad. Just as he finally relaxes in his courtyard, the General comes back from the battlefield. Looking grim, he leaves his victory banquet in front of everyone and heads straight to Xia Ze’s front door. On the StarNet livestream, billions of interstellar citizens watch the normally stoic General hesitating outside his spouse’s home. Comments flood in: "Why is he so anxious? Just knock already." "Wait a minute, this kind of alpha actually has a wife?" "You were so brave when fighting the Zerg, and now you can't even knock on a door?" "This is driving me crazy, knock now!" "Hold on, this courtyard looks familiar. Isn’t this the flower shop owner’s place?" As the viewers grind their teeth in frustration, they finally realize something. Who wouldn’t want a beautiful partner who can grow plants that soothe mental energy? Why did it have to be you who ended up with him? Qi Jing raises his eyes and says coldly, "If anyone’s unhappy about it, they’re welcome to challenge me to a duel." Silence falls across the stream. No one dares fight the Empire’s General. Fine, whatever. We might as well wish them a long and happy life together.   One-Sentence Summary: He even made me pretend to be pregnant. Core Message: Face life with a smile. No matter what challenges you encounter, never be afraid.
