The show’s location was deep in the mountains. Tall peaks surrounded them and the terrain was steep. The group’s first gathering point was a platform at the end of a winding mountain road built right on the edge of a sheer cliff. Even with guardrails, looking down made everyone dizzy.
Ji Chen’s legs felt shaky before he even stepped out of the car. Walking alongside Wei Yuanju, he exclaimed, “This show is really not fair!” By the time Yu Shiqing and Jiang Yu arrived, crew members were fitting them with safety harnesses.
“What is this for?” Ji Chen asked repeatedly. “Why do we have to wear this?” The crew had no clear answers just clipped them in and passed extra harnesses to Yu and Jiang Yu. Wei peered upward, noticing that the road to the summit was now a narrow wooden plank walkway. He felt uneasy though not afraid of heights, he wasn’t into thrill-seeking.
Su Yayi, standing behind him, shouted, “Are we really going that way? I see gaps, are we going to rock-climb too?” Every word she spoke weakened Ji Chen’s knees further.
“Is there another path?” Ji Chen’s face went pale. “I’d rather be in the loser’s team.”
“No,” Wei Yuanju said, shaking a mission card. The director handed it over, denying Ji Chen an easy out.
This time it wasn’t a win-or-lose task it was a group mission. They had to climb along the plank walkway to reach a cliffside hotel at the summit. The walkway started at the road’s edge, going up in steps fixed to the cliff face, with gaps at each corner they needed to climb through.
Su Yayi was eager: “I’m first!”
Zhu Yulan followed: “I’ll go second.”
Wu Luo timidly raised his hand: “I’ll go near the back. I don’t want to look down; I feel safe with you all ahead.”
“I’ll join you in the back,” Ji Chen said. Since Wu Luo spoke first, he was second-to-last, then dragged Wei along: “Teacher Wei, you’ll guide me!”
Fully harnessed, they approached the plank walkway amid tense live comments from viewers. Yu Shiqing walked behind Zhu Yulan. Jiang Yu walked beside him.
“How’s your arm?” Yu asked.
“Okay.”
A few sharp watchers noticed tension:
“Pisces CP is weird today less interaction than before.”
“They showed PDA at the ceremony did they realize they need to avoid that now?”
“Too late everyone already suspects they’re secretly married!”
The live director caught these trends and kept them prominent on the livestream.
The walkway was built for extreme sports fans uneven planks fixed to rock, with gaps between logs and sheer drop below. It wasn’t long before Ji Chen started shouting hysterically:
“Ahhh I can’t go on! Someone help me! Teacher Wei, look at me!”
Su Yayi laughed ahead of him. Both were out of breath. Yu Shiqing glanced back at Jiang Yu. Jiang Yu met his gaze. Yu studied his harness and said: “Be safe.” Then he turned away.
Jiang Yu stepped forward and whispered in his ear: “You too.”
Yu moved closer to him as he whispered back, “Stay close to me.”
They grasped hands, and Yu said softly: “This way is safer.” He shifted so Yu Shiqing could see the path behind them.
Ji Chen was clinging to Wei, terrified: “Teacher Wei don’t let me go!”
Jiang Yu suppressed a smile of affection, but responded calmly: “Let’s go.”
Yu Shiqing tightened his grip on Yu’s hand, and Yu replied: “Okay.”
They reached the first corner. Overhead was a rock ledge easy to climb. Su and Zhu reached the second walkway and teased Ji Chen below. Yu Shiqing followed after Zhu, climbed up, and pulled Jiang Yu over the last rock.
As the summit platform was small and exposed, they descended from the cliff toward a pavilion for rest; each person removed their harness afterward. Yu looked back once, then continued up.
Ahead, Su, Zhu, and others waved at him:
“Yu Ge!” “Jiang Ge!”
Yu Shiqing called out: “Jiang Ge is up here.”
Jiang Yu hadn’t followed the sign and walked straight past the entrance. Su Yayi called: “Jiang Ge, you’re going the wrong way!”
Jiang Yu frowned, uncertain. Su pointed back. He glanced at Su’s hand but stepped, only to slip into a shallow hole hidden by a rock ledge. Silence. Su and Zhu approached the wall edge then they gasped.
Yu Shiqing had jumped forward and disappeared from view. Su and Zhu ran toward the rock wall, waving frantic hands. After a tense moment, Yu and Jiang reappeared on the ledge safe but shaken.
Yu Shiqing had pulled Jiang Yu out of the hole and held him close, with his left hand pressing reassuringly behind Jiang’s neck while his eyes closed for a beat. Jiang Yu nestled into him, hearing the steady beat of his heart.
He realized Yu Shiqing still hadn’t let go. Turning, he caught Yu’s profile furrowed brows, pale lips, focused. Yu finally relaxed and drew back his hand to grip Jiang’s shoulder, pressing out a bit.
“Are you hurt?” he asked.
“No, I’m okay,” Jiang said quietly. “It wasn’t deep. I tripped while listening to everyone.”
Yu touched the mark on Jiang’s brow and cleared his throat.
Su Yayi arrived: “Jiang Ge, are you alright? I’m so sorry!”
The director had already cut to Jiang Yu’s camera view, so viewers stayed calm. After a moment of hush, the livestream exploded:
“They warned about avoiding PDA then this!”
“Yu Shiqing swooped in. Gotta admire it!”
“My heart couldn’t take it!”
“Yu Shiqing brings safety so Pisces CP real!”
The group turned back toward the entrance. Jiang Yu reached for Yu Shiqing’s hand again, slowing him.
“You were so nervous,” Jiang said softly.
Yu shrugged: “Hmm.”
Jiang pressed: “What does ‘hmm’ mean?”
Yu Shiqing then looked away: “It means that.”
Jiang Yu teased: “But my test passed, right?”
Yu shook his head: “Not that.”
Jiang replied: “I think it’s time we passed.”
Arriving at the pavilion, Yu remained quiet. Soon, the rest gathered and headed to the summit hotel a cliffside villa with glass walls and a pool.
Su Yayi was thrilled and insisted on swimming after dinner. She convinced them all, and rushed to change. The room had swimsuits ready.
Jiang Yu came out wearing only swim trunks and a towel, water trickling from his hair. His toned body glistened under the camera lights. Even fans hadn’t seen him like this in live videos the chat exploded.
Yu Shiqing caught his gaze. Jiang, putting down the towel, looking at Yu’s clothes, raised an eyebrow and smirked: “Your turn.”
