Chapter 65

After the spots were assigned (though not officially), Yu Shiqing calmly avoided Su Yayi’s hand, then said softly, “Okay, let’s start training.”

Su Yayi withdrew her hand, slightly embarrassed. Facing her long-time idol, she stuck out her tongue and said with a shy smile, “I’ll go now.”

Ji Chen stayed in despair: “Why did I have to draw the person Jiang Ge is following? Otherwise, Jiang Ge would surely win!”

Su Yayi looked serious and said, “Stop slacking off and scheming you need to work hard.”

Ji Chen blinked. What kind of person is this? Then she added, “Plus, both of them are alphas. How are you still so bad at this?”

Feeling attacked, he defended: “Everyone has a specialty this just isn’t mine.”

Su Yayi replied, “Neither is it for Yu nor Jiang either.”

Ji Chen was speechless. She continued: “It’s your first time riding a horse. Jiang Ge’s first time too. Why can’t you two be different?”

He had no reply and covered her mouth with frustration: “Shut up!”

Su Yayi quickly hugged the horse’s neck and trotted off with it.

Yu Shiqing watched the two leave laughing. Turning the reins, he guided his horse toward Jiang Yu, who watched without expression. When Yu Shiqing arrived, Jiang Yu slowly offered a slight smile.

“How are you?” Yu asked.

“Nothing,” Jiang Yu said with a half-smile. “Just realizing how considerate you are, Teacher Yu.”

Wei Yuanju, standing nearby and waiting to share his own experience, heard and felt the atmosphere. Without a word, he slipped away.

Yu glanced after Wei Yuanju, then at Jiang Yu, smiling and said, “Still can’t beat Teacher Jiang.”

Meeting his smiling eyes, Jiang Yu tightened his grip on the reins, relaxing them again. He swallowed words that hovered on his tongue. His lips pressed tightly as he turned his horse around.

Yu Shiqing, walking beside him, didn’t notice his small shift in expression and assumed he was interested in riding. He only said, “Be careful.”

Jiang Yu looked at him, frowning: “Where are you going?”

Yu replied, “I’ll just watch you.”

He had learned horse riding and archery for filming. Today, he felt more familiar than excited, unlike Ji Chen and others. Since Jiang Yu was a beginner, it made sense to ensure safety.

Jiang Yu’s fingers suddenly tightened. He looked at Yu Shiqing and felt an unexpected flutter of his heartbeat.

“Teacher Yu, being with you makes me feel so safe!” Ji Chen, passing by, overheard and came close. “I want to try horse riding too. Can you teach me?”

Jiang Yu’s face darkened. Yu just said, “Go ahead. Ask me if you have trouble.”

Ji Chen gleefully ran off. Jiang Yu then nudged the horse’s belly and rode halfway to the training ground. He stopped, pulled the reins, and turned to look back. Yu was still standing where he left him, how vague his face looked from a distance.

With a frown, Jiang Yu guided his horse back.

Yu smiled at him: “Tired?”

“Kind of,” Jiang Yu answered ambiguously. “I want to try archery.”

The archery range was smaller and less risky than the field. Yu nodded: “Alright.”

When Ji Chen finally finished riding and came looking for Yu, he found them gone. And Jiang Yu? Not there either. Ji Chen felt betrayed. A three-person project, and they’d left him? That’s not fair!

Just then, the coach walked over calmly: “Your friends said you’re interested in riding. If you have questions, just ask.”

Ji Chen asked, “Where did they go?”

The coach pointed into the distance: “They went to the archery range.”

Peering ahead, Ji Chen saw two horses riding toward the range. They looked handsome against the grassland, but Ji Chen only felt jealous: Pisces duo indeed.

He noticed two cameramen still parked near the carousel. Confused, he asked, “Why didn’t you follow Teacher Yu and Teacher Jiang?”

The cameramen looked at each other with sad eyes: “We can’t ride horses!”

Yu and Jiang Yu didn’t know they were filming. To free the van, Yu carried Jiang Yu’s camera and they ridden back together. On the livestream, only their retreating backs showed two tiny dots. The cameras rocked like an earthquake. Viewers immediately complained:

“I feel car sick just watching the livestream…”

“If I sway with the camera, I can ride a horse too, lol!”

“Honestly, good they remembered to bring a camera. I thought they were off to some romantic date.”

“They sure look like a couple on a honeymoon!”

Despite the viewer chaos, numbers kept climbing. The director didn’t cut.

Finally, the camera steadied they’d reached the archery range. No staff needed, the two went straight to the arrows. Yu carried the camera and helped Jiang Yu pick a bow.

On screen, from the limited view of two long legs, viewers sarcastically remarked on the low-angle camera work, praising Yu Shiqing instead.

Their voices came through:

“Try this one first.”

“I want this one.”

“Okay.”

After one shot, Yu asked gently: “How is it?”

“Kind of tiring,” Jiang Yu admitted.

“Try this bow.”

“Okay.”

“Raise your hand higher.”

“Like this?”

The camera pressed too close to Jiang Yu’s shirt, blacking out. Cloth rustled, but no one saw them.

Viewers begged:

“Let me see what they’re doing!!”

“Second blackout, guys, at least show the legs!!”

“I didn’t know Yu was so detail‑oriented!”

“Because Pisces duo is real they always come first!!”

Moments later, light returned. Yu stepped back beside Jiang Yu in front of the target. He guided Jiang Yu: “Aim, then release. Watch the string’s recoil.”

At once, Jiang Yu let go. The arrow shot and hit the top left of the target.

“No way!” Ji Chen arrived and gasped: “Jiang Ge, admit it you’ve practiced archery! Maybe I still have a chance!”

“I did study before,” Jiang Yu said.

Everyone cheered. Ji Chen brightened. Then Jiang Yu added: “But that was before you arrived. This was the second arrow.”

Ji Chen froze. Wei Yuanju patted his shoulder: “Accept it.”

He walked over wearing a resigned smile.

Only the two of them remained. After the tough horse challenge, Ji Chen decided to stick with archery. Seeing Yu and Jiang Yu return, and learning the cameramen hadn’t ridden horses, Wei Yuanju decided to help. He and Ji Chen climbed into the van with the coach, leaving Zhu Yulan and Su Yayi who enjoyed horse riding at the stable with new camera crew.

Live stream returned to steady visuals. Neither Yu nor Jiang Yu looked at the cameras. Jiang Yu aimed and fired arrow after arrow, hitting two in, two out most near the target.

After his sixth arrow, Yu said: “Rest and relax your arm.”

Jiang Yu said: “Last arrow.”

Yu watched him take the shot it missed. The repeated shots were heavy on his arm; being a novice, hitting at this distance was already good. But Jiang Yu wasn’t satisfied. He reached for another arrow.

Yu asked: “Last one?”

Jiang Yu paused and looked at him, then nodded to keep going: “This one is really the last.”

Yu asked: “Want to hit the bullseye?”

Jiang Yu looked uncertain. Yu smiled and pulled an arrow from the quiver, handing it over.

Jiang Yu lifted the bow, stepped forward, breath drew closer. Yu guided: “Aim.” His warm breath came near. Jiang Yu held his breath and nodded.

Yu placed his finger on Jiang Yu’s bow arm, raising it slightly: “Lift a little.”

Jiang Yu’s eyes locked with his, holding steady. He said, “Good.” then focused on the target quietly: “Release.”

In that deep voice, Jiang Yu relaxed and shot. The arrow flew, hit the bullseye (ten ring).

Ji Chen, just turning back, stared: “All right?!”

Wei Yuanju confirmed it: “It’s a perfect shot.”

Jiang Yu’s hand trembled as he looked at Yu Shiqing.

“Are you happy now?” Yu asked with a small smile. “Go rest.”

The cameraman captured every moment and live viewers went wild:

“I love Yu Shiqing so much!!”

“I’ll believe in love if these two don’t get married!!”

Live chat exploded with support and excitement.

It spread online that the washed-up film emperor, Yu Shiqing, was seen entering and leaving the same hotel as the popular idol Jiang Yu. The media, eager for gossip, rushed to get an interview. As usual, Yu Shiqing refused: “Don’t disturb me while filming.” Jiang Yu, known for being strong-willed, said, “You guys should know your limits when making things up. How could two Alphas have a scandal?” Even the fans came out to clarify professionally: “They’re filming together. Please don’t misunderstand!” That night. Inside the hotel. For some reason, Yu Shiqing pinned the wrong Jiang Yu against the door and bit his gland. With a strange Alpha’s pheromones invading his body, Jiang Yu felt both pain and pleasure. His face turned dark with anger. “Hey, bastard, you bit the wrong person!” Yu Shiqing looked up and, oh— it really was the wrong person. So he simply apologized: “Sorry. Let’s pretend tonight never happened.” Jiang Yu: “…” Scumbag! If I don’t turn this around, I’ve lost!
