Chapter 49

The two hurried over and found two people in work uniforms inside Song Wangzhuo’s home, along with several bags.

The landlord said, “Oh, Xiao Song, I had no choice. My son is bringing a designer over tonight to check the layout of the apartment. I messaged you, but you didn’t reply, so I had to send someone up to help you pack up first.”

Song Wangzhuo clenched his hand tightly at his side, as if suppressing something.

Then, he felt a tug on his wrist. Turning his head, he saw Shen Yuqing stepping out from behind him.

The young master’s face was cold as he said, “During the lease period, this apartment belongs to Song Wangzhuo. Bringing people in without permission is highly inappropriate.”

The landlord snapped impatiently, “It’s my damn house—what’s it to you?”

Shen Yuqing didn’t bother arguing further. He simply glanced inside and said, “Our people will come to move his things later. Send the workers you hired away.”

The landlord, who hadn’t wanted to pay for the service in the first place, replied, “You should’ve said so earlier.”

He went inside and said, “You can leave now.”

The two workers quickly departed.

Shen Yuqing turned to Song Wangzhuo. “Go in and check if your important belongings are still there.”

At this point, that was all they could do.

Song Wangzhuo walked inside. The workers had only just broken in, and only a few small items from the living room had been tossed into bags. He quickly checked some things had been scratched or dented, but they were all just minor trinkets.

The landlord watched Song Wangzhuo carefully packing his things and muttered, “It’s just a few things, why so fussy?”

Shen Yuqing, who had just finished texting Xiao Zhao, overheard this.

He said coldly, “No matter how little there is, these are things he worked hard to buy. You have no right to comment.”

With that, he followed Song Wangzhuo inside.

Song Wangzhuo silently gathered his belongings, while Shen Yuqing trailed behind, taking photos left and right with his phone.

Once he was done, he helped Song Wangzhuo pack up.

This earned him a couple of surprised glances from Song Wangzhuo, who hadn’t expected the young master to be so methodical.

Song Wangzhuo lowered his gaze. Though he didn’t own much, his belongings still took up a sizable portion of the living room once packed.

Now, they needed to arrange for a vehicle to transport everything but where would they take it?

Song Wangzhuo looked down and began searching for nearby hotels on his phone. But just as he opened the app, he heard the landlord shout from the doorway, “Who the hell are you?”

Looking up, he saw Xiao Zhao standing at the entrance along with several burly alphas behind him.

Shen Yuqing walked out and said, “Take the bags and boxes downstairs.”

Xiao Zhao nodded and relayed the instructions to the alphas.

They moved with practiced efficiency. The leader greeted Song Wangzhuo before lifting the bags and boxes, and within a minute, the living room was empty.

It happened so fast that Song Wangzhuo barely had time to react.

“This is our lawyer. He’ll discuss the breach of contract and compensation for the damaged items with you.”

The landlord exploded. “Song Wangzhuo, what the hell is this?”

Hearing his name, Shen Yuqing turned to look at Song Wangzhuo.

When their eyes met, Song Wangzhuo suddenly felt an inexplicable sense of reassurance.

This feeling was indescribable even he himself found it utterly bewildering.

How could he possibly find a sense of security in someone who had once tried to bully him?

Song Wangzhuo found it terrifying.

Yet, Shen Yuqing was still helping him resolve the situation.

He said, “The real question is what you intend to do. If you’re going to breach the contract, you should be prepared to pay the penalty.”

Shen Yuqing was relieved he had come along today at least he could lend Song Wangzhuo a hand.

He glanced at the lawyer, who adjusted his glasses and stepped forward, saying, “Hello, I’m from the legal department of the Shen Group…”

After handing the matter over to the lawyer, Shen Yuqing turned and walked back inside. He approached Song Wangzhuo and said, “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of this for you.”

Then he asked, “Have you found a place to stay yet?”

Song Wangzhuo looked down at the hotel listings on his phone. Hotels in Silino weren’t cheap, and given how long it might take to find an apartment, he’d likely have to stay for at least a week. He planned to check out some nearby hostels those would be more affordable.

Just as he was about to say he had found something, Shen Yuqing sighed and said, “No need to look. Why don’t you just move into the tutoring place?”

“Why?” Song Wangzhuo finally asked.

He had so many questions but didn’t know where to begin.

Shen Yuqing answered quickly, “The Shen Group has employee dormitories, and you could apply to stay there if needed, it’s free. But since you’re just my private tutor, you wouldn’t qualify. Anyway, the place where we do tutoring is usually empty. You can stay there, consider it your dorm.”

Shen Yuqing added, “I don’t want my tutor canceling on me for some random reason. My time is valuable too.”

Song Wangzhuo pressed his lips together tightly. His instincts told him that wasn’t the real reason.

But Shen Yuqing had already changed the subject. “You don’t have anything else, right? If not, let’s go.”

Song Wangzhuo’s throat moved as he swallowed. “I’ll transfer the rent to you.”

Shen Yuqing chuckled lightly. “No need. I told you, just treat it as your dorm and stay there without worry. What you should be focusing on is how to improve my grades because only when my scores go up will your job be secure.”

Song Wangzhuo watched as Shen Yuqing walked downstairs with his hands behind his back. After a few seconds of silence, he followed.

The landlord, his face flushed red, was still arguing with the Shen family’s lawyer. But the lawyer had seen far worse no matter what the landlord said, he remained unmoved.

Seeing Song Wangzhuo about to leave, the landlord lost his earlier bravado. He pushed past Xiao Zhao and the lawyer, squeezing between them. “Xiao Song, Xiao Song! Don’t leave yet let’s talk this over properly!”

Song Wangzhuo glanced down at the hand gripping his arm but said nothing, simply pulling his arm free.

There was nothing left to discuss.

But the landlord insisted, “Xiao Song! It’s not that I wanted to kick you out, you know I don’t even have a son!”

The landlord was terrified of the Shen family’s lawyer. The moment he spoke, he demanded several times the rent in compensation it was practically a death sentence!

In that moment, he couldn’t hold back anymore. “It’s because you offended some important person! They’ve already spread the word no one dares rent to you now!”

So that was it.

Song Wangzhuo had sensed something was off when he visited the rental agency earlier. Normally, these agents would practically worship potential tenants coming to rent properties why would they slam the door in his face today like this?

The agency’s claim that all units were rented out was clearly just an excuse.

He must have offended someone influential.

So who could this influential person be?
