Chapter 133

Is it right to just obediently follow along? Not only did he have previously scheduled acting lessons, but meeting with Do-heon now would only lead to exhausting conversations.

However, with two security guards already here, there seemed to be no other option. He couldn’t shake them off alone, and even if he somehow managed to escape, he’d still end up being dragged before Do-heon by the end of the day.

Moreover, the gazes of several residents passing through the corridor made him feel that the longer he delayed, the worse it would be.

“Mr. Yoo Cheong-yeon.”

After Cheong-yeon had been standing silently for a while, one of the security guards urged him.

“Where are we going?”

“We cannot disclose that information.”

“You expect me to just follow strangers without knowing where we’re going?”

“If you need confirmation, you’re welcome to contact Director Moon.”

“……”

Though the security guards’ attitude was polite, they seemed ready to take him by force if he tried to escape or resist.

It would be impossible for him to deal with two trained men alone, and today he felt particularly unwell, lacking even the energy for a struggle.

Cheong-yeon reluctantly took heavy steps toward the security guards.

“Please wear this, just in case.”

As Cheong-yeon complied, one of the guards handed him a lumpy envelope.

Cheong-yeon cautiously accepted it with a tense gaze and checked the contents. Inside were a hat and sunglasses.

“I don’t need these.”

How long could it take to reach the parking lot that he would need such things?

Cheong-yeon returned the envelope dismissively and started walking. One security guard walked in front of him while the other followed behind, guiding the way.

Though he had no intention of running away, their unnecessarily meticulous behavior made Cheong-yeon exhale a long sigh.

Ah. Why did I leave my bag behind? If I’d just packed my things properly yesterday, I wouldn’t have to deal with this annoying situation.

But it was useless to blame himself now. Do-heon had already found the medication.

When the three arrived at the parking lot via elevator, a car was just entering from outside.

“Please step back for a moment.”

The security guard cautioned, halting as he warily eyed the incoming vehicle.

Cheong-yeon instinctively observed the car entering quickly. A familiar model with a familiar license plate. It was Do-heon’s.

Could he have come personally?

Cheong-yeon frowned as he glared at the heavily tinted car. Simultaneously, the car glided toward him.

The driver’s door opened immediately, and Do-heon stepped out.

“How did the Director come here…?”

Even the security guards seemed surprised, suggesting they hadn’t been informed of his personal appearance.

“I’ll take him myself. Wait in the car.”

Do-heon’s flat voice resonated coldly. Since exiting the car, his gaze had been fixed solely on Cheong-yeon.

“Understood.”

“You, get in here.”

As soon as the two security guards turned away, Do-heon opened the car door and commanded Cheong-yeon.

“What’s this about, suddenly?”

Cheong-yeon glanced at the car and questioned Do-heon.

“I said get in, Yoo Cheong-yeon.”

Do-heon repeated with piercingly cold eyes.

“……”

“Or would you prefer to talk standing here? I don’t mind either way.”

He pressured Cheong-yeon, who remained silent and unmoving. Cheong-yeon eventually looked around and reluctantly sat in the passenger seat Do-heon had opened. The door closed immediately, and soon Do-heon entered from the driver’s side.

“Why haven’t you been answering my calls?”

“I was sleeping.”

Cheong-yeon adjusted his position toward Do-heon and answered.

“So, why did you come all the way here?”

“Are you really asking because you don’t know?”

A clear crease formed between Do-heon’s brows. He pulled out the medication Cheong-yeon had left behind from his jacket pocket and shook it. The rattling sound echoed inside the car.

“Explain this.”

Cheong-yeon silently looked down at the medications Do-heon had practically thrown onto his lap.

Having to argue with him for the second day in a row was already bringing on intense fatigue. Perhaps it was his imagination, but the mild headache he’d had seemed to be worsening.

“I don’t know what there is to explain.”

In the brief moment when he read Do-heon’s message that morning, he had considered various approaches. But no plausible excuse had come to mind.

“You don’t know? Are you saying you don’t know what these medications are?”

Do-heon’s emotional behavior was incomprehensible. He was acting as if Cheong-yeon needed to desperately justify himself about the medication.

“They’re pheromone suppressants and contraceptives.”

“And you’re taking both?”

“……”

“Yoo Cheong-yeon. You were hospitalized because of suppressants.”

When Cheong-yeon remained silent, Do-heon pressed coldly.

“I had no choice if I wanted to work. Is that why you sent people this morning and even came here yourself?”

“Suppressants, contraceptives. You’ve been taking both simultaneously, haven’t you?”

Cheong-yeon rubbed his forehead as his headache worsened with time and swallowed a sigh.

“…No.”

“I told you. Don’t lie to me.”

Ah, that again. Cheong-yeon turned his head as if weary of the conversation.

Though he knew he should properly explain himself now, the throbbing pain in his temples made it difficult to even think clearly.

“What were you thinking? Are you a Dominant Alpha? Taking suppressants and contraceptives simultaneously, especially ones meant for Recessive Omegas? You must know how dangerous that is.”

“……”

“What were you thinking?”

As Do-heon demanded an explanation, Cheong-yeon felt a surge of emotion—whether sadness or anger, he couldn’t tell. But he didn’t want to argue with him about this issue anymore.

So he had to bite his lower lip hard to swallow the words that were about to pour out.

“As you know, I don’t think much.”

“Yoo Cheong-yeon!”

“I don’t feel like explaining everything to you. It’s not like you’d understand. Even if my health deteriorates, it’s my business.”

“I met Professor Han Sung-wook early this morning. He said these medications have such poor compatibility that they could cause permanent pheromone regulation disorders as a side effect. So I’m confiscating them. Don’t even think about taking them anymore.”

Do-heon unilaterally announced this as he grabbed the medications and crushed them in his grip. His rough breathing clearly conveyed that he was barely containing his anger.

Cheong-yeon already knew that taking both medications together increased the likelihood of side effects and wasn’t recommended. While they might be effective immediately, immunity could develop, making suppressants less effective for controlling pheromones, and potentially making them even harder to regulate.

Especially for Recessive traits, the medications were stronger than others and certainly not good for the body.

“I’m already aware of such side effects.”

Do-heon’s eyes flashed sharply at Cheong-yeon’s calm response.

“And you were still taking these two together despite knowing! Are you out of your mind?”

When Do-heon, who rarely raised his voice at Cheong-yeon, suddenly shouted, Cheong-yeon also felt anger rising within him.

“So what? What’s the issue here…?”

Cheong-yeon muttered as if he couldn’t understand. Though he tried to appear indifferent, the end of his sentence trembled faintly.

If Do-heon had truly cared about his health, he shouldn’t have proposed this contract in the first place. He should have let Cheong-yeon go when he begged to be released.

Yet it was none other than Do-heon who had threatened and bound him, even bringing up the staff.

Being fiercely confronted with accusations of being out of his mind made Cheong-yeon feel so wronged that he nearly choked up.

“There’s no clause in the contract forbidding medication. If I got pregnant while working and my belly started showing, would you let me go? I’d rather risk my health than get caught in such a situation.”

Cheong-yeon looked straight at Do-heon with raised eyes.

“Do you understand what pregnancy means for a Recessive Omega? Do you think it’s possible to happily raise a child who might be Recessive like me, knowing they’ll be unhappy? What about my life? Do you even know how people look at Recessive Omegas who get pregnant? When I know perfectly well that you might threaten to take the child away someday, why should I! I don’t want to look into my own abyss, or yours!”

As Cheong-yeon was pouring out his feelings toward Do-heon as if possessed, he suddenly felt something flowing from his nose and paused to catch his breath.

“You say the medication is bad for my health? Then is what you’re doing to me good? I’d rather get sick than end up like that. All you need is this body until you get bored of it, right? What made you so angry! Are you suffering as much as I am?”

Feeling his breathing becoming increasingly labored, Cheong-yeon painfully clutched his chest. Yet the words pouring from his throat simply wouldn’t stop.

“I feel like vomiting when I see you now. I find you repulsive from head to toe! But I’ll still have the sex you’re crazy about. What’s the problem? What are you dissatisfied with after having everything with all your impressive money? I can sleep with you despite hating you intensely, laugh when told to laugh, cry when told to cry. Just leave me alone to overdose however I want. Do I need your permission even for that…!”

As he was shouting, something warm trickled down from his nose to his chin.

Cheong-yeon stopped mid-sentence and hurriedly wiped his mouth in confusion.

Dark red blood visibly stained the back of his hand.

“Yoo Cheong-yeon!”

“…Huh?”

Cheong-yeon stared blankly at his now bloodied hand. Even in that brief moment, the sticky blood continued to flow past his philtrum, dripping beneath his chin.

Only after his palm and the back of his hand were completely stained with blood did Cheong-yeon realize he was having a nosebleed.

Cheong-yeon demands a divorce from Do-heon, ending their three-year marriage. "I think I've seen enough, both good and bad. Let's end this. Please divorce me, Do-heon." And so Yoo Cheong-yeon adds "divorcee" to his list of titles alongside former failed idol and high school graduate. As he struggles to restart his acting career that he had given up due to Do-heon's opposition, his ex-husband starts acting strangely. 'Is it just my imagination, or does Do-heon, who never showed the slightest interest in me before, keep lingering around?' Eventually, Do-heon even proposes a sponsorship arrangement to Cheong-yeon. "Spon...sorship?"  "Once a week. Meeting me every Friday evening." "Why should I accept sponsorship from you, Director?" "Because I can get you cast in that drama. As the lead role, of course." Cheong-yeon wants to flatly refuse, telling him not to talk nonsense, but the wealthy ex-husband's offer is too tempting. 'But this guy didn't even enjoy having sex with me when we were together.' Do-heon's unpredictable attitude leaves Cheong-yeon confused. "Fine. I'll agree if there's no physical contact. It's not like you're making this offer because you want to sleep with me anyway." "Why would you think I wouldn't demand sex from you?" Cheong-yeon's eyes widened at these unexpected words. "What?" "Even though we're divorced now, we were legitimately married." "Then... that means..." "Of course sex is included. Isn't that the basic condition of sponsorship?"
